Latvian Gp 18 July
New Science replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I can say as someone who was there that the parade started at 18:50 and the first race took place at 19:00. The track was watered and graded after every 4 heats as is the norm. Before heat 16 the rain started and the track was only graded not watered. It rained all through heats 16 - 20 at which time there was a natural break while the draw was made for the semi finals. At this point it was raining heavily and it was still raining half an hour after the abandonment. The organisers or the track staff could have done no more to see this meeting through to conclusion unless your indicating that racing should continue regardless through puddles in monsoon conditions. -

New Science replied to Haza's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So when you stop being an Elite league number one you should pack it in. Unfortunately there are not many Greg Hancock's around who continue to achieve world level success into their 40's.I dare say if P.K had been in Pooles's team and averaging over 8 points a meeting from 2nd string he would be lorded by the same people who are knocking him, -
Torun Gp Tickets
New Science replied to markw40's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No need to apologise the fault is theirs .Gorzow site was exactly the same shenanigans, Daugavpils was easier but for some reason if you paid by Visa you could't print your tickets off at home and have to pick them up in Riga.Nothing seems simple on the SGP ticket page for overseas GP's this year -

Peter Karlsson was brought into the Wolves team as a second string. Not to ride in heats 1,13 and 15 every week. Its the failing of others that have forced him into this predicament.P.K has exceeded his starting average, don't lay the blame of Wolves failing at his door. -
Torun Gp Tickets
New Science replied to markw40's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
After a month wrestling with the Gorzow website trying to get tickets didn't think things could get worse.Lo and behold the Torun website has not disappointed.Having the same problem as others not being able to move beyond the seat selection page. Any ideas anyone, seems they are making it as difficult as possible for us to buy tickets in Poland. -

Coventry V Wolves Friday 10th July
New Science replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Unfortunately at Wolves their is no money at the club any more, crowds are down year on year and even the team sponsorship is structured around results .Although Wolves are historically loyal to riders, there simply now is not the funds to sack riders and bring in what would be expensive replacements.Unfortunately if the starting 1-7 doesn't work the club are now resigned to having tot stick with it.The weekly sound bites in the press of 'sticking together' 'low on confidence' and 'looking forward' are just a smokescreen for we can't afford to make to make changes.Unfortunately the team every year becomes a re jigging of the club asset base which is fine as long as you supplement it with some young riders with emerging talent who have experience of riding in Britain, the days of Wolves signing a Brady Kurtz of a Max Fricke seem to have gone.Unfortunately this years team was built with a top number 1 and a top number 7,neither has worked and it has exposed Wolves 4 second strings and a weak 2nd reserve.Unfortunately this season is over and it will be interesting to see what effect it will have on attendances at the Green. What also hasn't helped is that the quality of speedway at Monmore is nowhere near what it was pre 2011,something CVS and Pete Adams can't be blamed for. -

Swedish Elitserien 2015, Round 9

Greg seems to be making a habit of giving opponents plenty of room to pass him up the inside on tracks where riders are struggling to pass. -
Wolverhampton V Leicester 6/7/15
New Science replied to justathought's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Belle Vue did rip you off, they knew at 6.30pm that the track was not fit,but still opened the turnstiles regardless.Last night was different, with no rain after 12 the track would have been perfectly ridable, but with Lewis Blackbird not 100 percent fit,PK having a prang in his van and with Wolves in poor form the promoter decided he didn't want the meeting on for those reasons alone. -

New Science replied to justathought's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It rained at about 20.50,not exactly justification for pulling the match at 2pm -
Was gate 1 so dominant in the test event ?

No rain from 12 o'clock onwards, seems the Wolves promotion did not want this fixture on . Shameful really -
Wolves Vs Bees 29/june/15
New Science replied to lino wolf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Absolutely spot on ! I'm glad I'm not the only lone voice on here.It pains me to see what's on offer now compared to what we use to have pre 2011 in terms of racing and atmosphere. I think some fans (Stevebrum maybe) find it uncomfortable to criticise the sport,But the important silent majority have voted with their feet already. -

The track is well prepared. Unfortunately the shape and material used don't lend themselves to the modern speedway machine. -

The weather was good on Monday,Wolves had to win,Coventry top of the league, not on Sky and its still not full.People are voting with their feet because the racing is not good enough ! -

Can we kill this myth "the racing at Monmore is rarely cracking" It was one of the best of the year, but that's not saying much.Nowhere near what this fixture used to attract. -

New Science replied to lino wolf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Maybe its because the only way to pass at Monmore is up the inside.Outside passes are as rare as hens teeth,Such a shame the quality of racing we are witnessing now compared to pre 2011.Poor crowd last night for a derby match with Coventry top of the league, -

For those wondering why so many people are turning there back on speedway then meetings like tonight provide the answer. All the ingredients for a good match on a perfect evening and what do we get utter garbage,no atmosphere,no racing to talk of and 2 passes all night, those who chose to stay at home made the right decision. Is this really the best the Elite league can offer ? To see track specialists like Lindgren and Karlsson not being able to gain an inch on away riders you know something is wrong. At this rate the sport is doomed. -
To be fair Peter Kildermand crashes at most places. Would image it would be the same size if its exactly the same place. Seems everyone at BSI towers is keeping stum over this years opening ceremony the aim I would imagine to top last years.
-
I suppose if you ignore the ruts then it was fine, and only another 11 heats to run,I think it was only going to get worse . Without what happened in Warsaw BSI / Ole Olsen would have not have had the wake up call they have had, that has to be a good thing !

New Science replied to Noodles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Love the sarcasm. Its a crying shame that since the start of 2011 the speedway at Monmore has been nothing short of average. Oh how we pine for the days of Freddie Lingren using every inch of the Monmore track rounding everyone up. Sadly resigned to history. -
