  1. Hadn't really thought of the Olympic Stadium The infrastructure was put in for the Olympics to get people in and out of the venue with ease though, you can get there in 5 minutes on a train from Kings Cross, would only take me 13 minutes from Kent. and there would be no shortage of hotels, also most people could, if they liked still travel home on the late train if they wished. you would lose the pre meeting atmosphere though as people descend from all over, and I think they can do an opening ceremony
  2. I may have been wide of the mark on that, I thought it was what I had read but probably not
  3. Is there a reason why a speedway gp couldn't be held at Wembley? Not saying it should, just asking if it could
  4. I certainly haven't expressed any doubts at all, I think it is great, to be honest I wasn't aware of it when the planning stage was happening Great post, all the answers I was looking for, without the assumption that I am anti anything, I also would have thought Britain would be capable of holding a 2nd Grand Prix without it taking anything away from Cardiff, but that would only be my opinion, even if it is just every 2 or 3 years Thanks
  5. Always had a lot of time for Belle Vue to be honest, just didn't know the ins and outs of the new stadium, And yes I am a bit jealous because I have no team to support, wouldn't call it hating though
  6. Wow there are some sarcastic people on this thread eh, I was of course referring to "the national speedway stadium" which I know little about hence the questions, I am sure it would be even more ridiculous to build such a thing and not let the local team use it every week. Can I also assume then that Belle vue have funded this completely themselves I have already been told that this is the wrong place to ask such ridiculous questions so wind your neck in a bit, no wonder people leave this forum, you won't bully me off though
  7. Similar website here for accommodation https://www.airbnb.co.uk/s/Cardiff--United-Kingdom
  8. No probably not, but then why build it in Manchester? Does the new stadium have a roof? Anyway I thought it had a 25000 capacity, I know they get 45000 ish at Cardiff, but there are smaller venues that get used, can't they use both Just seems utter madness that we have built a National Speedway stadium, but are only going to use it for the british final and a few pairs meetings
  9. What is with the new national stadium at Belle Vue then?, I was assuming the British Grand Prix would be held at the national speedway stadium (once its built) Not that is anything wrong with Cardiff, just makes no sense to build it unless it is to be used. Than is unless Cardiff had a 5 year contract or something similar and there is only a year to run on that Maybe we will get 2 GP's, I'm sure you people more in the know will put me straight
  10. It was only a rumour I heard, not my preference, and would only apply if kings went elite, which was also what I was told, not by anyone from the club mind, so could be complete rubbish
  11. Kings Lynn didn't have that problem this season and they finished 2nd, It's ok for Rye, if they have a really good youngster he can go from the raiders to the rockets, Kents just go to other clubs, there can be no progression, National league definitely has a purpose, just not sure its good for stand alone clubs for too long, Maybe because I was bought up on the old national league where riders could at least complete the races
  12. been listening for nearly 40 minutes and not heard him speak yet, just Jackie Stewart
  13. It's never too late. I have decided not to go again this season, but I am more a floating fan than a Kent die hard supporter, I go to Kent as it is local, as is Arena I will be getting my speedway fix at Lakeside for the remainder of the season The problem I see is this, and it's not Kents fault, but every year you have to lose half the team, now I know it is a development league, but to lose riders such as mason, Simon Lambert and Benji Compton, and replace them with riders who after half a season, still struggle to complete 4 laps makes what's on offer a lesser product, don't get me wrong here, James Shanes has been worth the entrance fee alone some weeks I completely understand teams who run in the NL who have elite league clubs also, can concentrate on maybe producing that one young star who can make the transition to the teams elite league side like Robert lambert or james sergent have for Lynn and Cov, and then everything becomes worth while but year after year you will have to rip the heart out of your team just to meet the extremely low averages Eastbourne fans seem to be loving their speedway at the moment, and who can blame them, much like Kent in the early years, but give it a few years when they will have to lose BWD, Wood and Dugard and replace them with the likes of Danno Verge and Adam Shepherd, I believe the enthusiasm will wane It is possible to unearth a few gems on a low average like Kent did with Danny Ayres, etc but any top 3 pointers like ellis perks usually end up at Cradley, leaving slim pickings for the rest Kent have to do something, anything, to rekindle the interest, If, Kent were challenging on any front for some silverwear, then the season wouldn't be over, but the way they went out with a whimper on Monday, and as far as I can see, that was more down to the promotion and team manager than the riders has left Kent fans with nothing, season over, all that after such a promising season last year, which the Kent fans were hoping to build on, Kent have taken steps backwards I have also heard the elite league rumours, not sure it would be financially viable, but I do believe the fans would come back if the team was well put together, and to run alternate weeks from Lakeside, The Kent crowd deserve better than what's currently on offer.
  14. Elite league next year ? may explain why Kent are happy to just let the season fizzle out with what looks like no attempt to strengthen a weak team Something needs to change, that's for sure
  15. Its always the fans that take the hit and feel the brunt though, I've had it with Kent this year, and by the sounds of things so have many of the other paying public. Short term gains for the club maybe, but long term people will just stop going I have never really forgiven the club for the shambles that was Leicester at home last season when they blatantly ripped off every fan that was there by forcing riders to ride in torrential rain for 4 heats to avoid having to reimburse fans
  16. Great stuff as usual, I thought the idea of having a squad system was you avoid using R/R? how come Rospiggarna and Lejonen don't replace the injured riders?
  17. i can't believe they rushed through heat 10 at around 8-28 Why not just abandon the meeting and have a rematch, no ones fault mason was injured and needed to go to hospital, one of those things, stinks of money grabbing AGAIN, Kents last chance of anything this season, and that's the way they do it, And to make no changes, other than Shepherd quitting is unacceptable, Hope Mason is ok
  18. Matty Bates is out with food poisoning
  19. narrow kent win at kent, big Eastbourne win at eastbourne
  20. Thanks, so its unlikely summers will get an extra ride?
  21. sorry if already mentioned, but who can take rides for Sergent?, need to know for betting
  22. I like the idea of 3 meetings in 3 days on the same track, Friday night, a Saturday gp and then a meeting on the Sunday why wouldn't you stay over and go to at least 2 be great for fans travelling from overseas, be great if it happened for every gp at every track in my opinion not sure which meetings though
