  1. Reminds me of the wife while she down on her knees dusting the fireplace hearth - I say to her "while you down there you may as well kiss my feet". That gets her up quickly.
  2. "speedway in this country is a sport that definitely needs to address the matter of equality and diversity." Why do you say that? Have you any evidence that potemntial riders other then white have been turned away from a practice track etc due to the colour of their skin? Have you not noticed that certain sports are dominated by coloured persons, and other by white persons ie athletics/swimming. I have concluded that certain types of humans are not cut out for some sports but ok with other sports, for example cricket compared to motor sports. Moto GP doesnt have many/any coloured riders (though there are many asian riders. I notice certain countries are predominat in sport in general, but many dont really compete on the world stage ie Saudi/UAR/Qatar/Iran/Iraq/Afgan/Lebanon. So its each to their own, cant force competitors to do this or that, and IMO it would be wrong to spend a lot of money trying to coerce somone to do something they dont want just to satisfy some perceiced need.
  3. If controls were put in place supposedly to control COVID-19 and they have not done that then yes, I think it is likely to affect other sports. I Presume they have looked at what went wrong, what was weak, and what could strengthen the controls, and come to the conclusion to shut down. Look at Poland speedway, couple got tested +ve even though controls were in place. i surprised football has been allowed to start, after all its a contact sport on the playing field. At least in speedway riders have virtually full body covering whilst riding, it’s what goes on in the pits and offices etc that is likely to be weak areas.
  4. In Boris speech the other day (telefvided and in newspapers) he was talking about October for "mass" gatherings, so thats end of speedway time. So effectively speedway in UK not going to happen. As for will officials be required COVID testing if stadia dont open. Well its happening in other sports now where no crowds ie footba;;, F1, MotoGP so yes it more then lokely be required IMO.
  5. Completely different meeting to Toruń. Madsen showed his class again, not his best meeting but can pull something out of the bag when needed. The final was interesting, 2 Russians v 2 Danes, 5-1 to Denmark. In the final I was pretty sure Emil was letting Laguna get 2nd place, trouble for him was Michelson had his own agenda and I was glad to see him take the 2 Ruskies on the last bend. Robert doing well, obviously not got the experience yet that some of the other mature riders have, but he will learn a lot this season, likewise Smektala. Timo Lahti doing ok, not spectacular in any specific way, but he’s in the mix mostly. Great track, missed it these last few years, glad it’s back, want more of it. Great meeting.
  6. But does Vaculik have the consistency. More then a few riders have the talent.
  7. Depends on what the first meeting was like as to whether I would want to watch a second meeting, Prague GP can be iffy.
  8. The east side of Manchester is a sports village spread over a large area. The true legacy of the Commonwealth games is the main stadium for athletics etc, which is now Manchester City football club, plus the the cycling velodrome which is now the National Velodrome. See the title National Velodrome..... I would suggest Manchester City Council embraced a new speedway stadium for the most famous speedway team in the world, Belle Vue, because it would be called the National Speedway Stadium. Indeed, they may, I don’t know, have insisted if they were to invest money then the stadium had to be called National Speedway Stadium. I don’t know what the ground the new NSS stands on was used for but it is next to a road on one side (grandstand side), an indoor sport facility (turn 1 & 2), houses (back straight), and 3 outdoor pitches (turn 3/4). All these were in place before the speedway track/stadia was built. The track, grandstand and back straight are all brand new. You recall the new BVue got off to a bad start when the first meeting, Peter Craven Memorial, which attracted a world class field (which had to be paid for) was called off (when the stadium was full) due to problems on bends 3/4 which had nothing to do with BV management but all to do with Man.City Council sub contractors. BV invested a lot of money on the first meeting, punters had to be refunded, leaving BV playing catch up all year money wise.
  9. I didn’t realise he only did 12 meetings for Coventry. I got to see him at Belle Vue when Coventry came visiting, I was only 12 at the time but remember we used to call him ”Aunties Pyjamas”.
  10. Depends on what the first meeting was like as to whether I would want to watch a second meeting, Prague GP can be iffy.
  11. The two Polish league matches shown Sunday evening on Box Nation absolutely board me. The racing wasn’t all that brilliant, but the interlude between each race was terrible. Ok, they show a re-run of the best parts of race just finished, then they showed rerun of the race before that, and the race before that, then start all over again. And the music that accompanied these reruns, terrible. Grump over!
  12. What else do Walkers make at the Leicester factory?
  13. Terrible race track, most of the time I couldnt believe I was watching a meeting fro Torun. Processional racing after first half lap a lot of the time. Good to see NP up there with them still. Madsen at times showed his true skills, but the star of the night was Robert Lambert, now I can see how the injuries carried into last year were holding him back, hop he can keep up the good form. Zmarzlick, well he was going to win it or be an also ran. Lets face it, he was the wild card, probably not going to be in any other rounds, therefore no chance of winning the title, so why bust a gut. He did what he did and got some practice in against a field of (mostly) top guys. Disappointing one was Gregory Laguta - impressive when on form, which he was not.
  14. Listed on BT Eurosport 2 is SEC Euro championship at 4:00pm tomorrow Sat 4th July from Torun. Is this meeting still on????
  15. Looked down on the stock car track in Yarmouth using Google Maps. It looks the wrong shpe to produce good racing. Long straights compared to tightish corners.
  16. Yes they did, hugh table across Charles Bridge, pre booking only, no social distancing, bring your own food & drink - but it was shared apparently. It was as if was a celebration for taking covid19 down to zero ie it doesnt exist. Sees they shot themselves in the foot, the virus is not dead - its deadly. Now they finding out the foolishness of there actions. Potentially putting no speedway in Prague ie GP. Must be a concern for medic pros in the UK - opening pubs and eating places this Saturday. Fancy doing that on a Saturday when most people able to go to work will be off. Roads will be crazy, pubs/cafes/restaurants will be as full as can be, staff not only getting used to working again but also getting used to new practices - I can see spikes coming in a week or two.
  17. There was a thread couple months ago, maybe less, where some contributors on here seemed knowledgable on streaming, maybe they would know about stream and blocking. If, not, there is likely to be someone out there in the uk speedway world that would provide info.
  18. As I said it needs someone with the vision to go where they not been before, either that of speedway in the uk stays stagnant and rots away.
  19. But with something like speedway, it’s spectators will likely not only come from all areas of Leicester but from areas 20-30 miles or more beyond. I still don’t think there will be any speedway in the uk where spectators will be allowed, so no paying punters equals no speedway. Of course speedway could be streamed but do British speedway promotors have the vision to do that?
  20. I dont think Ove was too bothered about a showy display, even to riding the track spare. But he got the best out of what he rode. Just like Leon Madsen can get his bike out of corners at a gallop, OF had the skilll to get both wheels in line asap and get the drive.
  21. Is Gleb Chuganov not elegible this year? Don’t know for who, now confused - Russia or Poland
  22. I dont think it would have been on, do you Phil?
  23. It looks like Woffy may have taken Dan under his wing, which has to be a good thing, plus Max, who he knows well, is there as well.
  24. Last night I watched a recording of the 2019 British Championship from Belle Vue. What a good meeting but the last two rides of Danny Ayres were real crackers, especially his 5th ride when he the race all but won except for him riding into the deep stuff on bends 3/4, him fighting with his bike to stay on, which he did, only to lose out to Chris Harris. i know the night belonged to Charles Wright, but Danny Ayres will be remembered for a brilliant showing, he so much wanted a win that night.
