  1. Why would you charge different rates depending on how far away they live, the further away pay more too? Seems crackpot idea to me.
  2. For some time now BSF members have been saying British speedway is in the doldrums, dying on its feet, and what’s needed is some different thinking, something creative. The thinking a family of four staying at home, spend £12 instead of £50, thus the track loses £38 plus drinks, food etc, is stifling the creative thinking. When this pandemic is managed and we can have a bit of normality, many workers will have lost their jobs (how many millions we don’t know), their won’t be many families who can afford £50 plus, and I just wonder what percentage of fans currently are mum, dad plus 2 kids anyway. Creative thinking, here is a good example I just seen on a shopping channel on TV. ...... they selling a pair of ladies thigh length boots (I don’t normally watch ladies fashion, honest, but I just woke up from mid afternoon nap) and this was the offer. You order your size and they send two pairs, one the size you order, other pair half size bigger, whichever fits you keep and send the other pair back post free. Immediately I said to the wife “what a brilliant idea”, she looks at me with a blank look on her face. Creative thinking....... they almost certain of a sale by sending two pairs, different sizes. If they sent the size ordered, say ladies size 5, and it was a bit tight, it would be sent back and unlikely a size bigger ordered (lots of purchases are impulse buys). Result.... no sale. So, two pairs sent, different sizes, one pair is likely to be fit and kept by customer..... kerching - money in the till that might not have been there. Brilliant idea. The model doesn’t fit speedway sales, but it’s the creative thinking needed to INCREASE sales that is needed.
  3. would all the riders in this years British Championship be all on the same pay rate? I assuming it would £x per point and per start, plus travel. Anyone know?
  4. If you read my first post proper I was asking had I heard right, obviously not, according to Sky news that I since read, that’s where I got the info.......... There have been another 7,143 cases of coronavirus reported in the UK in the last 24 hours - the biggest rise since the pandemic began. 71 coronavirus-related deaths have also been recorded - the highest number since 1 July. The significant rise in COVID-19 cases comes after the number of positive tests fell at the weekend, with Monday's figure at 4,044 cases.
  5. 71 deaths in uk last 24 hours, largest number since July 1st. If cases have been doubling each week for couple weeks it’s obvious to me that deaths are likely to increase shortly after, People mixing without social distancing/facemasks etc, simply ignoring advice and now legislation merely because they don’t want to conform is shouting out “I could t give a monkeys about anyone else, I will do what I want, it’s all about me, me, me”. Hospitals will be overrun, staff will be in danger, all because of selfish self centred people.
  6. How many deaths today, have I read it right at 147, substantially more then yesterday.
  7. Don’t agree with you on numbers. Some may stay home to save a few quid, but I think many many more will stream. Tjat could be past supporters who may have moved away from the area, supporters like me that find travel (30 mile each way) is too much but would stream, there would be away supporters who cannot afford a day off work to travel Poole to BVue for example but would stream, and of course keen supporters who would stream watch a good match between two teams, neither that he supports. So at the right price, streamers could outnumber those in actual attendance. £8 max.
  8. I hope not too many subscribed for last night. £12.95 is too much, if a lot subscribed then £12.95 could be a norm. I would go fo £7-£8 for top league racing
  9. Apart from no 5, 7, 9, and 15 all seems a bit lack lustre compared to previous years. Pity Dan meets Jan Kvech in his first race when the track wont be at its best more then likely.
  10. I believe tv can be very addictive, and understand we can get more then 4 channels.
  11. Gote came 3rd in the first post war World Final away from Wembley, 1961, Malmo,Sweden. First two rides he beaten by Ronnie Moore, then Ron How, then in his last race he was the only one to beat Fundin. He had a season at Belle Vue in1960, then during the 60’s he rode for various.
  12. Gote Norden was a class speedway rider. Silky smooth with a nice style. Pity he never reached the very top, he would have been a popular world champ and a class ambassador for the sport.
  13. but worldwide there must be tousands, if into tens of thousands in with the snouts in the trough. Being as there must be so many surely at least one if not more will blow the gaff to tell the world who these unknown uper powers are.
  14. I would have done at a tenner but Thursday evenings are took up by more important things.
  15. So all the governments around the world must be telling lies cause this bogus virus story is pretty universal and hitting a second time in lots of places. If it’s a load of lies there must be thousands upon thousands around the world complicent to the lie which to me sounds incredible.
  16. If only........ If BVue are charging a tenner for their forthcoming meeting I think that will be it for “top flight” speedway in the UK, especially if a few thousand pay for it this time.
  17. I think it’s likely the front wheel has touched the tape well before the peak on a helmet. Seems the helmet peak catches when they have gone through the tapes with the wheel and carried on.
  18. The start area for Moto x, the gate does drop “flush” with the start block which is usually concrete. Thing is with Moto x is that per race it is only used once ie it’s part of the course not used for the following laps, unlike speedway. Using the same design on a speedway track probably would cause problems due to a) concrete start block b) metal grid may not give a flush surface (some bikes are into some sort of slide around the start area at some tracks.)
  19. MotoGp must have a system that detects the finest of movement. I think it was Argentina GP last year, Cal Crutchlow moved ever so slightly, just moved - didnt go, it was detected and he had to do a "pit ride through" which costs about 30 seconds. They magnified his front wheel, did it in slowmo, yet ou could only just see the movement - as I said, such a small movement yet it was detected. Would be a bit crazy giving a speedway rider a "pit ride through" penalty though !
  20. Overall the Czech GP was poor speedway entertainment. Too often races were strung out. Not what viewers want, not what riders want. Yes, I will sit through it tonight for Round 6, all the time hoping it will be better then Round 5. The fact 8 of the riders were on a start infringement warning/exclusions shows the riders knew they had to get a good start to have a chance of winning the race. Some of the infringements, when shown in slowmo, were so close to perfect anticipation it was difficult see why a penalty was given. The fact some races, not only las night, were called false starts and the race stopped, but then after the ref replayed in slowmo he decided it was not an infringement just shows how difficult a job the ref has to uphold the rules. In MotoGP, and F1, do not have start tapes (not practical) and especially in modern day F1 a good start is imperative, but rarely do you see riders/drivers being penalised for moving at the start. One of the reasons for this is that the have many laps to claw a “poor” start back., in speedway there is just 4. Remember Warsaw GP a few years ago, the tape system failed, so they used the green light system to start races and the system worked. Refine the green line system such that it includes a beam in front of the front wheel AND a beam behind the rear wheel. The rider cannot have his machine too far away from the front beam (the rear beam would be broken) so cannot do massive rollers, but has no fluttering tapes in front to distract, nor magnets too watch......... just, when the green light comes on then the beams go off and the rider is free to go. For sure, the rider can anticipate the start but the amount would be so small it wouldn’t matter. The rollers that were in the 70’s etc were allowed and they spoilt races, IMO, I hated them. But today, equally races are spoilt when a rider anticipates perfectly but it’s stopped and potentially a rider excluded for really a very minimal offence.
  21. That is not what has apparantly happened. Anlas tyres were submitted for approval, passed the test and approved, but on testing what was available at Wroclaw the results differed from the approval standard so are now banned. From the Anlas statement I read it appears that they are saying the limit of approval was not too clear for them..... so what becomes of this is to be seen.
  22. Doyle a big girls blouse moaning about that move. I seen him do much worse anyway. overall not that bad a meeting, made good by fantastic last three races plus a few other belters.
