  1. Thata what I meant when I said we been spoilt by excellent racing in the GPs this year....we expecting races like that EVERY race, but of course we cant have it. Stick by what I said, some races ok (were good), some were brilliant, just like that Warsaw race. I agree with the trophies being rubbish.I thought Cardiff trophies would be a one off, but to have the same again the very next meeting , no more please.
  2. Been spoilt with excellent racing in GPs this year and expecting every race to be the same. Some races were ok, some were brilliant. Overall a very good meeting. Pawlicki fortunate to stay in the Smolinski incident, and then again in the Zagar incident. With Smolinski, Smoli was in the lead and Pawlicki didnt even try to stay on by moving. With Zagar, you can see Pawlicki look toward Zagar then still turned left into him.
  3. Agreed. Thats business, make an investment to make a return, with the aim of a profit..
  4. Good post full of relevant information. Hope BSPA are reading it and make appropriate changes to the rules for next year to foil Poole having 5 "foreigners" in a BRITISH league team. Someone sometime has to stop this nonsense of not giving british riders a Premier league place at the expense of foreigners who use britain as a developing stepstone at the expense of british interests.
  5. £20+ grand in Marcels pocket is probably a fraction of what he has put into the project.
  6. Monster Joe will probably make up any losses Chris Holder has due to his ban in UK - "dont worry, there are enough mugs who drink this muck to make up your losses"
  7. If the ref told riders not to return to the pits in the event of a restart........ why were the pit gates open?
  8. Probably so, just like I think there was more to the opening night at BV
  9. Considering whats just been said, is it right for him to have added pressure of being captain not only of Bv but also Team GB.
  10. So not really a ban then? If they wanted to ban him that would affect his riding in UK why didnt they say ban until end of May 2018
  11. Not showing up for a tribunal means Holder was showing contempt for the speedway authorities.
  12. The comments you make about Holder are squashed due to the fact he now has a 9 month ban from SCB
  13. I cant knock it. We all know many things are not working right in British speedway, much is said on this forum, and obviously elsewhere, so whats wrong with someone trying to get their voice heard. It may not work, but there again ... it may work. Wont be known unless its tried.
  14. who is the "certain gtr rider" that has changed his engine..... or is it some big secret. Noticed a rider at KL last night was riding a GTR, forgot who it was though.
  15. I think the key words being used are amateur status and professional status. Most speedway riders will be registered as a business and such should be classed as professional I would have thought.
  16. and surely we hoping that BT seem it fit to press on with coverage for 2018.
  17. That was an ok meeting. Must admit I was apprehensive that it would be ok after the recent rider loss at KL, but it didnt come over too bad on TV. Meeting was run slickly, 1 hour 45 minutes and it was over. Pit gates stayed closed after race stopped for tape movement. Shows it can be done and thats how meetings should be run.
  18. Sorry HA, I missed the n at the beginning of the 4th word. Should have read "Surely it was not lack of money that caused such a recognised poor track layout" I agree with what else you said. Dave Morton and Chris Morton took the effort to design a track for BV by going studying successful race tracks around the europe and maybe elsewhere, and put what they found into practice despite the track had restrictions of size due to other buildings already in place. Leicester looks if they had an open field to go at.
  19. and I find it staggering that you find it staggering. If Poland protects its speedway that then affects British speedway, then British speedway needs to be protected as well. If Poland hadnt brought in protectionism then I doubt the matter would be being discussed on this forum.
  20. and so should UK protect its interest - UK speedway is as important as foreign speedway. Perhaps more clubs should have taken a Matt Ford stand. Is it OK for clubs like Peterborough to let a rider who they already declared and promoted for advertising purposes certain riders would riding, only for them to be offered some money to let a rider ride in Poland. Not showing much regard for the British paying public, in fact its an assumption that it is ok to rip the British public off - talk about Rip Off britain, make a good tv program out of situations similar to what happened at the weekend. I do think promoters at times rely on the die hard staunch British speedway supporter to turn up with their £20 or whatever no matter what show is put on. Trouble is, these die hards are diminishing and not being replaced at the same rate rate with new younger speedway supporters.
  21. No its not the same. The poles are restricting a rider in the Polish league to max 2 other countries. OK if they are raising a raw rider into something that would be a betterment to their team, but they only do that mostly with Polish riders. What I was saying is if you take on a rider, give them the right encouragement and facilities, then the before they can make another country his main riding place. Its logical if you invest in someone then you expect some return, not that they just get up and go when they half good.
  22. So its happening again, young Aussie comes over to Uk with a freshly issued visa, gets good apprenticeship, uses that time well, then hops off to somewhere else. This is different to years gone by, where Aussies came over to make their WHOLE career based in the UK. UK needs clauses in contracts that state UK has first choice, and make this a condition of riding over here in the first place.
  23. Tomorrows KL v Somerset I think will be crucial to British speedway and the link to BT for next year. If the meeting is a flop then could be curtains drawn by BT
  24. Surely it was ot lack of money that caused such a recognised poor track layout, which has had to be severely modified, and still not considered a good race track. Thats what I meant when I said Leicester seemed to have missed a trick. Have a good race track, good promotion, that will surely bring in fans (if in a speedway area) which means more money to spend on the amenities in time.
