  1. No its not the same. The poles are restricting a rider in the Polish league to max 2 other countries. OK if they are raising a raw rider into something that would be a betterment to their team, but they only do that mostly with Polish riders. What I was saying is if you take on a rider, give them the right encouragement and facilities, then the before they can make another country his main riding place. Its logical if you invest in someone then you expect some return, not that they just get up and go when they half good.
  2. So its happening again, young Aussie comes over to Uk with a freshly issued visa, gets good apprenticeship, uses that time well, then hops off to somewhere else. This is different to years gone by, where Aussies came over to make their WHOLE career based in the UK. UK needs clauses in contracts that state UK has first choice, and make this a condition of riding over here in the first place.
  3. Tomorrows KL v Somerset I think will be crucial to British speedway and the link to BT for next year. If the meeting is a flop then could be curtains drawn by BT
  4. Surely it was ot lack of money that caused such a recognised poor track layout, which has had to be severely modified, and still not considered a good race track. Thats what I meant when I said Leicester seemed to have missed a trick. Have a good race track, good promotion, that will surely bring in fans (if in a speedway area) which means more money to spend on the amenities in time.
  5. Only 2 of the SEC riders worthy of a sniff at the GP's and that is Milk and Lebedevs - only if they can keep their current form up. Are both of them still in the GP Challenge???
  6. Meeting repeated on Eurosport this morning, Sunday, just 1 hour, so very much the highlights - which might be best as it was an average meeting, but weather played its part in that. Not seen Smolinski go so wide to do overtakes.
  7. And what would one do with the young Brits that develop in the UK, then get to a point they want international experience/another country takes an interest in them, and off they fly to pastures greener. Cant blame them if the money/world fame is there and not here. Can you blame them for wanting that, can you stop them doing it?? And what if a world class rider with connections around the speedway world, turns manager/trainer of a team of young Brit hopefuls. That would be an interesting scenario.
  8. When you think of the hold up due to M-Way problems, fans will have made a huge effort if they get there at all, and then find that they not seeing what they thought they were going to see. Not good is it? Thought Chapman said he was going to rip up the rule book and start again. Taking his time doing it.
  9. Perhaps fans should be given a refund because they not seeing a full show in action. Its all getting worse. I blame the twisting of the rules in years gone by. Every twist of a rule means rules get tighter such that there is no leaway when there is a genuine need. Pretty pathetic IMO
  10. Daugavpils has produced some good racing in the GP's. Be sad to loose it.
  11. That about sums it up. Always the same, someone tries to get round a rule means another rule is introduced, and so it goes on. Then comes the day when there is a genuine case and there i no wiggle room. Of course, there is an unwritten rule - rules can be broken when justified - is there a will to bend it for BV in this circumstance.
  12. Wemmbley of old was a special place to be - any one who didnt get there has missed a treat. If a modern day GP was to be held there I doubt I would be up for going - Cardiff is easy to get to, city centre, plenty going on for those who want it
  13. I mentioned the good crowd at BV the other week when BT were there with the cameras, and wondered if it had been tried before - that is lower the price regularly to £10. The comment I got back was the crowds will be there for a few weeks then start to dwindle down to the die hards, so the club is worse off.
  14. but to make a meaningful point about poor track condition you need solidarity - all for one and one for all type of stuff. The riders were not in unison that night, that was Holders and Batchelors downfall.
  15. If you mean Chapman used r/r on the night of the injury - well if the medical staff at the track indicated TB was unfit to continue....... but the point is, TB had a medical certificate but made a wonderful recovery for the next nigh guesting at BV - a track he knew he can score well at.
  16. How is Chapman failing miserably???
  17. The fact TB had a medical certificate issued at KL one night, and the next night he guest rides and scores well makes his situation a lot worse IMO. Remarkable recovery, would you agree? The link says its blocked in this country.
  18. If you meaning BSPA, have they actually bought the engines and got them in store in a big lockup???
  19. Are you missing the point??? It would mean the "dropping of 2 if not 3 riders" would mean 2 if not 3 riders would be out of a job through nothing of their own doing - that is "out of a job". Is that fair???
  20. Am almost certain no retractable roof at Wembly - big mistake I would have thought seeing the football season is during winter.
  21. Possibly best engines in Poland. Wasnt it said somewhere on the forum that Jack was bringing a Polish engine over for this meeting - did he?
  22. Once someone is suspended from work there is usually a review taking place during that period. Thats what happened to Chris Holder resulting in his being dismissed. Troy batchelor was so stupid to ride the night after being declared unfit to ride (wrist injury), not only riding, but seemingly without any affects of his injured wrist ie he scored well. Remember 18 months ago when top riders refused to ride at the Belle Vue opening meeting. There was bound to be consequences following that fiasco.......... it just happened. Perhaps referees need to get more involed as to a meeting being called off, or a track not suitable to race.
  23. and Lewis does'nt compete in a British final for him to pull out. I understood what geoff100 was getting at, and you probably did as well.
  24. We done 3 years on the 3rd tier 3rd bend for £19 each year per person, and no problem, being higher up means you can see the track from a (semi) birds eye view ie see most of the track and the lead up to passing moves.
  25. OK, then I wonder what the turnover is, including turnstile/programs/food/drink/carpark/anythingelse when charging standard entrance fee (but a smaller crowd), and the reduced £10 fee but with larger crowd. Would be interesting to know. Someone somewhere must have worked out the figures, or have they?
