  1. A big well done to Plymouth looking to improve the track, yes it did look bad, but remember still 2 months till the season starts, a little bit of dry weather and a drying wind will help things big style, looking forward to my visit in may with the comets
  2. Would think some of these riders will have been approached, but for one reason or another probably don't fancy a journey to deepest Cumbria
  3. Unfortunately as said in recent interviews with Steve lawson, when Workington were accepted into the league at a late stage, mid November after promoter's conference, most teams were already signed up, thus leaving the comets having to think out of the box to sign a team, so far the team looks good, but the last signing seems to be a sticking point, not helped now that Redcar have a similar average to fill
  4. Race now on to name last rider, now Redcar has joined the race, while riders who may fit into either team will be counting the extra dosh
  5. Yea this happens now, but in the past was supplied from a big drum at the track, but it was very primitive, now a big more safer when giving out the supplies
  6. Apparently it was the illegal additive he was carrying, nitros oxide, several riders allegedly put a little in the carbs before going out on track and it gave a boost to your starts
  7. Seems like @KK62 is wrong defo in 50 gallon drums in late 70's early 80's , a few on here have done it or can remember it being taken out of the big barrel into 1 gallon containers
  8. Report on various pages say after a short illness
  9. Some sad breaking news one time comets promoter Graham Durey has passed away today
  10. Just for fun 1 Workington 2 Plymouth 3 Edinburgh 4 Berwick 5 Redcar 6 Oxford 7 Scunthorpe 8 Poole 9 Glasgow
  11. But it was, supplied in a 50 gallon drum, as I said very little elf snd safety in them days
  12. Ron bagley in 1981 and Ian thomas in 1985, 6 or so junior meetings with the likes of 16 year old Gary havelock think Kenny Carter and a few other who went onto be major names
  13. I also gave methonal out back in the day at derwent Park,( 1981 + 85 ) but very few elf and safety rules then !!
  14. Wot a big surprise Dan Bewley is riding at Ben fund meeting let's see if he is bringing some big name friends
  15. Plans going forward for bar and food in 2 newly installed portacabins on middle of bend 1 + 2
  16. A few years ago a Glasgow number 1 was on a lot more than £100 a point and another was on a very very high guarantee whatever points he scored. Apparently
  17. A good thing for comets promotion is that every penny that comes into the arena, admission, car parking, food and drink, sponsorship etc, is all their own, no rent to pay, but you have more costs than riders wages, other major costs need to be factored in to the equation, like medical costs, insurance costs of electricity/generators, track equipment etc. In the interview Steve lawson said a break even figure of 600, which imo will be easily achieved, let's get behind the comets promotion and be like Oxford then speedway will be here for many years UTC
  18. We haven't got Pooles money, so IF the last signing is Vissing, I think he will have to lower his wage expectations a bit, as imo that's number 1 money, not 3rd heat leader money. Maybe Mr Shovlar can ask Matt Ford if he will help the comets out
  19. Hopefully before Easter weekend that's when the 1st matches are
  20. Is that the same person who hasn't posted for a while, despite a few days ago, thought it was his/hers personal forum page
  21. Sounds like a bitter and twisted tiggers fan,
  22. Probably wants too much money, more so, as this is the last team place left in the league, so riders know the place has to be filled, so it's probably a major sticking point, promotion budget V riders (whoever it is ) demands
