Sheffield vs Ipswich 2024 Cup Final Sept 2nd
InTheDeepStuff replied to ShanoXtra's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Meeting changed after the heat 6 gate swing where Sheffield got a run of the more favourable 1 & 3 that Ipswich had early doors. Ipswich defo put the pressure on, but the meeting sort of evened out after that. Following a stinker at Owlerton on Monday and bike failure in Ht1 I think Howarth had a massive night after that and that’s gone a bit unnoticed with focus being on points Pickering and Ch Holder scored -

Brennan scored a paid max (10+2) when guesting for Sheffield earlier in the season, was against a depleted King’s Lynn though -

Can Sheffield break their Foxhall hoodoo? Possibly a first away win on the cards since winning the Championship there in 2017? 43-37 to Sheffield -

I think that the Sheffield track man should get another pair of eyes to give some impartial advice on what to do with the track as in its current state of a lot of powdery material it’s a) it’s becoming dangerous when it gets piled up high virtually stopping riders in their tracks on more than one occasion and b) it makes the track ‘gate and go’ or ‘follow the leader’ as riders using the only line up high. Maybe someone like Meredith from Belle Vue or even Phil Morris coming in giving his view having been involved in track prep in the world stage. -

Hook was unlucky not to score more last week for Plymouth at Scunny, him and Thompson were the only ones challenging the home riders -

Where was Craig Cook last night surely can’t be using the ‘wife is due’ card still or has he got a 28 day ban that we’ve not been told about? -

Firstly terrific news Emil’s injuries aren’t as bad as first feared. Jack wasn’t going over to have words with a stricken Emil he was going to see how he was but Chris had got there first and could see the open wound on his posterior and Emil in pain so ushered Jack away so he couldn’t see it. Jack was sat devastated in the pits, Emil is one rider that all the others seem to like so he was concerned about his injury. Both Jack and Chris as well as other Sheffield riders were speaking to Marc Bates saying this accident is exactly why they need to change how the track at Owlerton is prepared. Too many armchair fans on here ready to go in two footed when they wasn’t there and didn’t either see the incident of the events afterwards. -
Felt for Kyle Howarth last night, found cure for ignition issue with bike number 1 after two rides and had good win over Max Fricke in third ride, then in fourth ride through no fault of his own whilst trying to avoid Ryan Douglas who’d locked up on exit of bend 2 clashed with him causing chain to go and cause around £2k worth of damage to his bike! Engine case cracked and gashed so that’s for scrapper, diamond squashed where chain flattened the tubing, engine plates damaged, clutch wrecked including basket, throttle cable snapped and that’s just for starters!! It’s an expensive sport especially for someone who isn’t going to be on the receiving end of massive sponsorship or at the top of ££ per points. But you know what he still put his kit away, went to the bar to meet the fans, had some pics with some kids, when he could have just got in van and drove home with no interaction with fan base like a lot of riders. Went up in my estimations for that

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Tai Woffinden r/r, Kyle Howarth, Josh Pickering, Chris Holder, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes. LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Richard Lawson, Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Antti Vuolas, Sam Hagon. 1st August is Yorkshire Day, will Sheffield be celebrating it with a home win? A very tough one for the Tigers tonight against a Leicester team who have riders that have shown a liking to Owlerton on many an occasion and could see this one going down to the wire. R/R again for Sheffield which immediately puts Sheffield on the back foot for man and machine especially on another hot night and also in the fact it’s not really covered Woffinden’s points when used to date. Pressure on the Holder bros to be on top form and for Josh and Kyle to get back in the points and hopefully get back to some consistent scoring. Jason and Dan’s life made slightly easier with no Cook tonight especially after his performance for Oxford Owlerton earlier in the season. The key rider for Leicester is Fricke as has been up and down at Owlerton, if he’s on it then Leicester could have the upper hand especially if Lawson, Douglas and Masters perform on a track they usually score decent on. Tough one to predict, narrow home win for Sheffield 47-43 with Leicester going home with the bonus point

Ipswich v Kings Lynn August 1st
InTheDeepStuff replied to cowboy cookie returns?'s topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lemon generally doesn’t let his riders guest for teams who are around Belle Vue in the league positions, so more chance of Blodorn, Cook guesting at number 1 for Kings Lynn than there is of any Belle Vue rider guesting in place of Doyle at Ipswich or Woffinden at Sheffield with only one team not racing. -
King’s Lynn vs Sheffield - 29.07.24
InTheDeepStuff replied to StarBoy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done Stars really good performance from a patched up team even gifting a few points to Sheffield on the way! Pickering a massive let down tonight, you’d have thought it was his first visit there, no speed continually rode high line going further and further behind. Think Steady needs to have a word to tell him there’s more than one line on most tracks. Jack poor by his usual Lynn standards, those two had ridden to what they should it could have been a helluva a lot closer. -

I can see Sheffield running R/R again for this one which will be a massive mistake, as can’t rely on Pickering and Howarth to cover the points Woffinden should have got, know it’s all hypothetical and Woffinden pulled up no trees on last visit to King’s Lynn. If they do go R/R then home win 50-40, if Sheffield get a decent guest (Fricke, Harris as can’t see Janowski who’d be first choice flying over for a guest visit) then could see Sheffield sneaking it 44-46 -
Sheffield v Oxford - 25th July
InTheDeepStuff replied to InTheDeepStuff's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No, Sheffield don’t do live streaming for their home meetings -
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Tai Woffinden R/R, Josh Pickering, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes. OXFORD: Rohan Tungate, Erik Riss, Maciej Janowski, Charles Wright, Chris Harris, Ashton Boughen, Luke Killeen. R/R at number 2 should work out better for Sheffield than having it at Tai’s usual number 5 position, as should ensure a strong partnership with Jack in 3 races and allow Sheffield to use Jack in Ht8. This one should be a lot tighter than the last 4 meetings where Sheffield have got around the mid 50’s in each of them, as a few of the Oxford team have had more than one good meeting at Owlerton (Harris, Wright, Riss to name a few). This though should be the first match of the year where Sheffield have a stronger 6 and 7 than their opposition so if Jason and Dan continue recent form that could be a bonus for Sheffield. Always good to watch Bomber around Owlerton no matter who he’s up against and the battles between Charles Wright and Kyle are always fierce (you wouldn’t think they were good mates!), Magic should improve on his last visit to Owlerton and Tungate fast if he gets in front with him weighing less than an average persons leg! Sheffield need an improvement from both Kyle who’s had two under par performances in the last week and Josh who only seems to get going from Ht14 onwards. Personally think change to rising at number 2 for Josh when back to a full 1-7 will help him. Think Sheffield will get the home win and nick the bonus point on offer too, with a 50-40 win.

Birmingham v Sheffield - 22nd July
InTheDeepStuff replied to StephenMiller's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Think this will be as tight as the meeting between the sides earlier in the season which went to a super heat. If Pawlicki was fit and could have brought his weekends form in Poland over to the UK as that would have been a game changer, but Castagna will give his all as ususal. Looking forward to seeing Lindgren v J.Holder and also interesting to see Brennan v Fricke as Brennan guested superbly at Owlerton last week and Fricke could use this as a testing ground rather than going with what he knows works. The Brummies reserves could have the upper hand in that department if the Sheffield duo don’t get out of the traps which they’ve both been guilty of so far this season especially away from home, so could come down to MPT/Cook/Lampart v Howarth/Pickering/C.Holder. It’ll be tight rather way but going for an away win 44-46 -
Wojdylo looked to have 2 mechanics with him tonight one of them being Lambert’s dad, if he’d have had 4 it wouldn’t have helped him as on more than one occasion could hear them telling Rob Lyon they couldn’t do much with what they were working with, so is Wojdylo just using the basics over here and keeping best kit for Poland and Sweden?

Sheffield ride their 18th league match (75% marker) of the season on 1st August, can they really afford to wait for Woffinden? He’s not going to ride until Cardiff and even if he did ride prior I imagine Wroclaw will have first dibs on his services possibly the weekend prior to Cardiff and if that doesn’t go to plan for him that’s R/R and guests for the rest of the season and we’ve seen how that hasn’t worked recently. Surely if there’s anyone out there (Musielak, Lambert, both have good relations with the club) that can ride from next week/week afters fixtures before we hit that 75% threshold they need to come in. Gone are the days of Woffinden bringing in additional 10’s of fans to Owlerton (away meetings possibly) and a new face might just bring that team spirit spark back which hasn’t been there this season.
