  1. Interesting to read see of the issues regarding late arrival because a few years a lot of mine used to come Friday, Saturday and very occasionally Monday and after speaking to my local postman it was clear it wasn't his fault or the stars. The postman told me some magazines are held over by the local distribution areas and after a firm email to the local SO manager it funnily enough doesn't happen anymore except for the odd bank holiday. I think the star is a quality read and like others I especially enjoy the special articles and track reviews over the winter, the new super 7 being a good example.
  2. Many thanks for your replies which are appeciated we'll certainly by me. One quick question, bearing in mind the whole topic came about because of a flawed race format wouldn't it have been common sense to scrap it and go back to a race format that provided accurate averages which were fair to all concerned.
  3. A quick look at the current rulebook shows all changes from the previous year in bold print.
  4. The problem is the SCB are not in control of the relevant sections of the rule book that cause all the problems, the BSPA control the sections applicable to the EL and PL a point the SCB manager Graham Reeve has pointed out to me several times. In addition two members of the SCB management are BSPA promoters (Alex Harkess & Gordon Pairman) so are hardly Impartial.
  5. And that's the basic problem It needs ripping up and starting again.
  6. I have been saying this for years and it hasn't happened yet, a new rulebook written by people other than the BSPA would be helpful as well.
  7. Phil I did try and PM you but for some reason I am unable. Did the BSPA or office complain or has SCB been suspended just for flouting BSF warnings.
  8. I am sure you will correct me if I am wrong but I thought it was Stuart Douglas who keeps the sport going at Lakeside, has Cook bought him out.
  9. I have and to be fair I think Cook is beng disrespectful, it also comes across as downright arrogant as to why supporters would question his and other promoters decisions. How on earth he can call supporters thick, biased or both after some of the ludicrous ideas he came up with (EL KOC format being one) escapes me. Another classic piece of Jon Cook PR.
  10. It's to do with the supporters club, vacant positions on the committee.
  11. Every club has supporters who don't agree with the majority and Rye House are no different, RH even had a promoter (now gone) who didn't agree with most of the Rye fans on what constituted a good team. On the basis that Simon (deservedly) won the rider of the year award I think you can take it shads that he is generally very popular and most will be delighted to see him back.
  12. And theirin lies the problem, the BSPA continues to hide everything it does instead of doing things openly to the benefit of the sport, despite assurances from the new chairman it's clearly business as usual.
  13. This is bog standard press release bullrubbish, the blokes ridden for just about every team at one point or another and didn't even get offered a place last year. Without at least one big hitter Lynn will struggle.
  14. Failing to keep fans informed of what's going on is also very damaging and certainly doesn't portray Hemsley or the club in a good light.
  15. Surprised that no Ricky Wells this year, I expect he will get plenty of guest bookings at Monmore though
  16. Very good top 4 and certainly the best team completed at present
  17. I don't think it's his hearing that's the problem.
  18. Pretty sure the Kurtz brothers don't need visa's
  19. Terrible news for Lynn fans but this has been coming for years and the promoters have just ignored the warning signals I asked the question at Niels talk in at Lynn the other week did he like Busters idea of fixed race nights for the EL and he completely agreed that it made a lot of sense. Funny how it makes a lot of sense to supporters and riders but promoters don't seem to agree or not enough of them to make it happen.
  20. So you are telling me he only rode half the season at no 5, which is basically what I was saying. It's still early doors but I haven't seen anything yet that stands out although Newcastle look better than last year already.
  21. Personally I thnk it's pretty average. Kings class at this level but Covatti started at reserve last year and will undoubtably find it tougher riding in the likely no 5 position. Risager is very hit and miss and their are big question marks against Kerr, especially early doors, if two of the top 4 have quiet nights I think you could struggle especially away. A good season will depend heavily on Kerr and Castagna significantly improving their starting averages.
