Ipswich v Wolves 26th May
bigcatdiary replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don’t like cheating, it’s probably one of the reasons the sport is dying on its arse Glad it cheers you up, I think it’s commendable your still in good spirits considering your a Witches supporter, let’s be honest you haven’t had much else to celebrate have you. -

It reads until 25% of league fixtures are completed, and they haven’t been to date. Whether you, Uncle Tom cobbly or your mate from the pub agrees or not. All this cobblers about Regional starter competition and the BSPL must have decided is just that - cobblers. I am well aware that this change was allowed under 10.3.1, Board directors sole responsibility, best interests of the sport etc. Certainly was in the best interests of Belle Vue and following on from that decision Ipswich as well. -

What the speedway regulations don’t say is irrelevant. The regulations says A Premiership Transfer Window opens after 25% of the League fixtures are complete and closes when 75% of League fixtures are complete. This permits changes to the team on 2 occasions, except for proven long term injury. Now considering no Premiership team is likely to complete 25% of its league fixtures until early June it’s clear both changes do not comply with the above rule. -

Which the BSP Ltd Board completely ignored for the Belle Vue and Ipswich changes. -
Bowtell has been knocking around Div 3 and Championship Reserve berths for 5 or 6 years, let’s give Jenkins a shot, Palin cannot really complain he just isn’t cutting it this year and his record at Lynn is dreadful.

I should think you could fill volumes with stuff you don’t understand. Yet you think Promoters can magic up replacements presumably from thin air. -

And how many half decent riders can you name that are likely to want to come ? -

Sounds like Klindt wanted too much, the real problem is their are not enough riders of that ability available or want to come in the first place. -
The format itself is entertaining and is perhaps worth pursuing but the idea to enforce a reserve to have a ride is pointless, I think this detracted from the overall competition. Going forward I would suggest any 2 of your top 5 with a teams no 6 or either of the Rising stars at reserve but definitely letting the TM chose his line up and his choice as to whether he uses a reserve or not. No guests please, whatever is chosen.

What was the streaming like, tempted to try it for the future meetings.
-
Wouldn’t we all, not one tractor on the track from heat 1 onwards and the whole 17 races done in an hour and a half. And to be fair the racing was pretty non existent for the first half and then some decent races in the later stages. Lynn deserved the win, they rode as a pair, not many others did.
-
Just a shame he didn’t realise it was a Pairs event, the only time Doyle looked for his partner was when he crossed the finishing line.
-
It was raining slightly from about 8.30pm but it didn’t affect anything

Updates has the line up it appears

To me the the sensible solution would be the teams no 6 or either of the rising stars (7 or 8)

20.05.22 - Scunthorpe v Newcastle (league, BSN)
bigcatdiary replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think in this day and age not checking the local weather forecast and the respective clubs website before leaving for a speedway meeting when travelling a distance is somewhat reckless and a chance that just isn’t worth taking. Clubs who call meetings off on bad forecasts invariably do it to save everyone’s time and money including them on rent, expenses, riders officials etc and it works. Not often I agree with a Scunthorpes press officer but I do on this occasion. -
You make a lot of good points, their could be a case for a guest for the missing No 1 rider but the guest for everything else has got completely out of hand again.
-
Personally I will be attending my home leg anyway as I should think will a lot of supporters from the other Premiership teams attending theirs. I don’t know what the individual events are but I still think it could have been more competitively priced (to start with) this is a new venture for U.K. speedway and could be a lifesaver for the sport.

Not sure if he still does but he did used to live locally
-
I think they have missed a trick with the streaming, they needed to get everyone on board by knocking it out cheaply the first year and then increasing it when a lot of people are using it.

Heat formula is in this years regulations, which is available to download free on the SCB website

He needs back up, including a TM with a brain, unfortunately he has neither. Batch doesn’t look any better than last year and both Riss and Barker started brilliantly and faded just as quickly, but once Sheffield got the set ups it was game over. Not sure what’s up with Danny this year and what on earth is the Rowe disappearing act all about.

The racing was dire, as it was at Peterborough a couple of weeks ago, but Peterborough does occasionally serve up some excellent racing.

I would have said Painful was a better word
