HGould
The Companies House documentation is as conclusive as it can be I fear. I would not post anything that did not come from a reliable source but i have been told by someone well known in Midlands Speedway circles for many years that on Friday morning the BSPL were close to pulling the plug and making riders available for moves. At the 11th hour Workington were able to give enough positive information as to give the BSPL confidence to extend the suspension for a further 7 days. I think it's clear though that new limit may be the final time stamp for something to have happened to resolve the impasse. My understanding is that only a very sizable payment to HMRC; who are the main Creditors seeking to get renumeration here ; and who have massive clout, will ensure recommencement of activity.

So will it be NORTHSIDE Comets on companies house now to avoid paying the creditors?

And after the history season in 2018 Andrew began making noises about opening Comets at Northside. His first job became the removal of Derwent Park shale, off to the new track. And apparently (?) Andrew dug too deep into the shale and ruined the machinery blade he had hired - costing him approx. £50.000 (I'm only going by what I was told then). By the way to this day you can still see the deep gouges, into the concrete base, on both bends at DP. The work though carried on successfully -thank goodness. I don't know Andrew's line of work but the aforementioned drama must have tested his resolve and I say well done marra for sticking with it. Hopefully the bikes will also be shifting shale again soon at Northside.

But, if they haven't filed accounts, HMRC would have no idea what they are owed. HMRC used to be the main creditors, but they aren't anymore, in an insolvency situation.

Muppets taking over successful teams is quite common, it seems, along with losing stadiums to development and along with speedway track owners, with strong connections to speedway, (the Duggards, the Pughs), either selling up or keeping the stadium, but not running speedway. I don't know what the answer is, but speedway is clinging on by its finger tips. Holding on to running speedway as a team event, cannot last, as the number of teams drop out. It will survive as an activity, but my guess is it will survive as an amateur sport, with individual meetings and with other associated attractions, such as upright challenges mixed in and GT140 type races. My guess is it would attract more riders, would remove the need for expensive foreign riders and would give the promoters/organisers, a chance to at least break even! Only assuming sufficient crowd numbers would attend!!?
SteveLyric2
Good to see at least Vinnie is getting some track time as a Prem guest tomorrow.

Fantastic opportunity for Vinnie, he's not had the meetings he needs this season and although it's a shame he's not riding for the Eagles at Birmingham tomorrow, that what the NDL is about. As you rightly point out with no accounts filed it is possible HMRC’s records do not show anything as outstanding. Certainly if HMRC thought they were owed any money they should have objected but they are not particularly well organised to always pick such things up.

Also, It could be, the promotion is in someone else's name. I remember Arena Essex stating Peter Thorogood as 'The Promoter', but he was really the team organiser/manager (bless him, he was good at that!), but not the 'cash man'. Then you have Coventry speedway, I always thought Charles Ochiltree was the promoter, but he was, apparently, a junior promoter, someone else stumped up most of the 'cash'! How can a rider decide not to race for their team to guest in another league? If Vinnie doesn't want to do NDL/NDT then don't sign in that league. EDIT: just found out Foord has signed for Ipswich, isn't a guest after all. Edited July 6 by szkocjasid

When I read he was missing a NDT match to guest in another league I was livid, feel the NL/NT gets very little respect, but have since read he's signed for Ipswich, so that's fair he's missing for Kent. At least he gets a bit more riding while waiting for Workington.

Why not start at the start of the season and pick a pool of riders who want to ride and just pick bingo balls out and that rider rides for that team. All done on last seasons averages and so you have number 1s 2s etc 1
