Shows how low speedway has fallen , reaching a British final was a huge accolade … now riders don’t care …. Let’s be honest Lawson is at the journeyman stage of his decent enough career .. better to see a young gun in my opinion Journeyman , Lawsons been with us at poole 3 seasons now, if he was a journeyman he wouldn't be a Wimborne rd now, would he . From what I remember, no when it was the one big league, but in the split divisions, they were strong. Having said that, I think they only lasted one season - 1997 - before going out of business. Carl Stonehewer and Martin Dixon were there key riders, if I recall correctly. 1

Who's next? I would be more worried about what is happening at Plymouth, your number 1 not exactly pulling trees up, so trot on back to your Plymouth thread

Necessary evil... There is no alternative... Guest have been around for years... Etc, Etc, Etc ... There is a very fundamental reason why no mainstream coverage, large companies, and plenty of fans themselves, don't take Speedway (in the UK), too seriously... Your example of what happens regularly (virtually every week), is the clear reason.. Colluding with the promoters it actually means something is a prerequisite for fans who do want to take it seriously and pretend...

TheWellBehavedWorrall
Well, if sacking your temporary number seven and replacing him with another temporary number seven isn’t the sign of a club sh*tting themselves, then I don’t know what is.😂

We cant expect Cairns to save us other riders need to step up.

Feel a bit sorry for Marson myself.. Unless he asked to go. Riders GSA at the start of the season.. Averaging after the 1st 4 meetings Lawson 9.17 9.40 Cook 6.23 8.40 Rowe 6.11 8.47 Thomsen 4.41 5.07 Starke 3.36 4.40 Edited 22 hours ago by Bald Bloke spelling

Steve Shovlar
There’s making up the numbers and making up the numbers. Seriously, Matt Marson is a better speedway rider than me. I have never put a leg over a speedway bike and ridden one, in all my years. Yet I would have contributed the same as Marson, had I been number 7 in the Poole team. You don’t get a,point for finishing tailed off by 100 metres, or a lap behind. Marson knew he was well out of his depth at this level and it didn’t do him or the team any favours. Ritchings may or may not do any better but he can’t do worse. Riding for Poole brings more pressure than riding for nearly every other club, and rightly so. Riders should know they can’t have a couple of dodgy meetings. Kerr must know this and get his act together quickly. Starke needs to show some fighting spirit. Tick tock… 1
ASpeedwayfan
I really don’t get the over reaction for Poole replacing their number 7. They gave Marson the chance and he just isn’t on the pace of the other riders. So they have now given the opportunity of riding for the club to someone else? yes it’s an early change but Marson didn’t show any fight or improvement. poole stuck by Perry as he was often on the pace and showed some improvement, sadly Perry was always very poor coming out the tapes. Poole then brought in Foord who played a huge part in winning the league. Poole don’t ride to make up the numbers. They ride to win.

Tick tock… He will probably be next, even though he started on 3.36, and has averaged 4.40 in his first 4 meetings. I can't see the attraction of riding for Poole myself tbh. Fair comment, Marson was going nowhere so RItching can only be an improvement. I was never keen to see Kerr riding for Poole and his scoring so far hasn't been great, but.... when I've seen him race at Wimborne Road he has shown more willingness than his team mates to mix it and really have a go at racing, good to watch. The Pirates really lacked that kind of aggression, particularly at the start of last week's meeting with Oxford.
