Very good point he was outstanding the commitment he showed I would take him at Poole next year in place of Zach cook 100%

Jeppesen is nearly a point above Zach, if his average fits, of course he's be preferred to Cook.

Can't see it happening unless Poole move up.

Shouldn't really be making comments about the Lawson situation, it says he on compassionate leave not paternity leave

Compassionate leave is not allowed either. That's what Oxford asked for Jacob Clouting.

Story here: PREVIEW: Key battle for Chargers in Scotland – OXFORD SPEEDWAY

Relevant paragraphs:

Chargers will be going into action at Edinburgh without skipper Jody Scott, who is due to be riding for his Cab Direct Championship club Redcar at Glasgow on the same evening.  They will also be missing Max Broadhurst (ruled out for the rest of the season with a hand injury) and Jacob Clouting (due to the birth of his daughter).

Cooper Rushen and Harry Fletcher will guest for Scott and Broadhurst respectively. Chargers were due to utilise rider replacement for Clouting, but he has not been granted compassionate leave by the Speedway Control Bureau and Chargers will use the unattached Kieran Douglas instead.

Personally, I think speedway needs to move with the times and allow such leave, but unfortunately it doesn't.

Another nail in its coffin

Sadly, I think the SCB will step in and block the guest, just as they did with R/R for Jacob Clouting for Oxford Chargers at Edinburgh. British Speedway is in the dark ages and doesn't do paternity/compassionate leave.

Yes, but don’t Poole get special treatment?🤨

Did I dream it or did Sheffield get a facility for Jack Holder for family reasons earlier in the season?

That was down as family emergency though rather than compassionate leave. Howarth also missed a meeting due to family emergency i believe.

On Redcars SM pages (mainly X) they are still saying Lawson, so who knows! 🙃🤷‍♀️

It will be Ellis. Most speedway clubs are pony when it comes to updating social media.  Ellis will probably score less than Lawson.

Just because he may score less doesn't mean Poole should get a facility

Agree think it’s time for Zach to move on.

Why be keen for a rider to move on when he's put over 1 point on his starting average? OK he's not the most extrovert of captains that's ever been and will still be in the Poole side in 2026 imo.

(Maybe he'll improve further with another compatriot Aussie in the side?)

Agree he has put a point on his rolling average, watching him every week I feel he is getting stale on the Poole track. 9 times out of 10 if he is behind just follows the rider in front line for line, no attempt to even try and overtake. BV suits him well and if he wants to progress maybe a full time team in Poland will help him progress. Nothing against zach at all, he’s been a loyal servant but like riders been and gone a fresh challenge may do him good. I don’t also feel another year at Poole he will increase his average anymore, it’s gone up due to mainly been put at 4 most of the season. When it didn’t work out for Kerr at 5 Zach was next in line and that didn’t go well either hence his return to number 4, Anders has held his own at 5 thankfully but this should have been Zach’s big year to push to remain at 1 or 5 all season but hasn’t happened. Argument could be made his average went up due to riding at 4 in the team and not 5. If I went through the 2025 meetings and worked out a percentage of Zach’s heat 13 and 15 appearances, think it may be pretty low, but that’s where he needs and should be, and on that front he hasn’t progressed in 2025. My opinion and everyone is open to theirs, but that is why I don’t think being at Poole in 2026 would benefit him or the club.

As long as its not Bowes 😂.

Chances are this guy will not be riding POL U24 (too old anyway) next season or in POL 3rd Div so no doubt would welcome riding UK. But not one for me. See no improvement on his 2025 GSA. He is a bang average rider who has gone nowhere in his career in 4 years riding in Germany - POL - and the Swe 2nd Div

If it was Zischke - Bailey -  Mcdiarmid or Morris - Now that's a different matter entirely.😉

True but it is a valid reason in my opinion, cant see us getting through with Ellis especially as his father hates Poole almost as much as you do!!

Funny how I supposedly hate Poole yet I spent the afternoon with Matt Ford and his wife here in France.

In 2024 Zach rode at 4 all season with his brother at 3 and and Tom at 5 and only increased his average from 6.22 to 6.23!  This year he's had the extra 'burden' of the captaincy because nobody else wanted it yet still improved his average by over a point. Agree he likes the BV track (who doesn't) but its different machinery,  and different set-up for a big track.
