The opt-in option applies to grass track champs as well with the ACU licence I seem to remember and has always been there I think.

It'd go the same way as the Finnish, Norwegian, Italian, Slovenian, Croatian, Australian & New Zealand GP's I'd have thought.

Last night I bumped into a couple of polish friends that I haven’t seen since  wolves last meeting, I asked them if they had been to Birmingham this year , they said no they hasn’t been to any speedway since wolves closed, still watched the polish extraleague on tv but said they were thinking about going to Cardiff this year, they didn’t even know the British GP had been moved to belle vue, I think that pretty much tells you how much British speedway is removed from the public conscience and until discovery and the bspl come up with a plan the fantastic spectacle that was Monday night will remain a closely guarded secret

The meeting at Mildenhall was actually Bangers, not Stock Cars. They are very different formulas and different types of racing.

Attendances vary depending on the formulas racing and the level of the meeting. On average probably very similar crowds to Speedway, but some meetings can fill a stadium.

This particular meeting was far from 'run of the mill'. Although it wasn't a major title race it was one that attracted attention due to the type of meeting it was with all the cars being pre-1990. It was a 2 day meeting with over 300 cars booked in, giving fans a chance to see rare cars being raced, stay overnight at the track for a good social, and the weather was superb for the time of year.

With regards the comment from someone else about Odsal looking empty. It has a capacity of over 20,000 so even a 4-5,000 crowd makes the place look sparsely populated. For some of the less popular meetings they only open the stand on the home straight (which I believe holds around 3,000) as this reduces stewarding costs. A youtube video shot from that stand would then obviously show very empty terracing.

As I don’t follow stock car I wouldn’t know the difference between stock car or bangers and I was just generalising and when I said run of the mill I just meant it wasnt a championship event like the British final was but it sounds like a great social event to attend and this leads into my gripe about the GP being at belle vue, it’s a great track etc but as a social event it’s a non starter, it’s just a meeting, Cardiff was a social event if if the track was dodgy at times

An excellent meeting but, sadly, so many "throttle jockeys" on show..

Unfortunately, it was like watching a meeting in Poland...

They should hold it at Plymouth next year and call the sport "TECHNICALway" rather than "SPEEDway"...

How much more exciting would it be to watch riders fully locking up, blocking the track every bend, thus ensuring no one has room outside to pass..

The art of the sport is to scrub off speed by going sideways, instead of forwards..

I have read on here that this is what Speedway should be about, so let's hope the authorities are reading this.....

Birminghams future is more than dodgy. The dogs are moving out the stadium end of September I think they said.

The stadium will close end of the season.

But countering that was the racing last night which was excellent, and ended in a final which was top drawer. There’s no doubt that the track is the best in the UK, but if fans don’t come out what’s the point? Are we going to be embarrassed by a really small crowd at GP this summer? I hope not but let’s hope it’s not a repeat of the empty stands we saw there last year for the WTC or what ever it was called.

Thought it was Bewleys to lose but Lambert had other ideas and won it well in the end. Great final. 

 

Have you not seen the ticket sales for the GP 🤣🤣🤣  it's not hard to check.  Saturday is sold out with less than 1k left for Friday.
