Workington v Poole Sat 12th July 6pm start

Recommended Posts

Lets get a new thread on the go in anticipation of the return of the Comets and what better way to do it then by welcoming the Reigning Champions Poole Pirates to town!

This is sure to be a cracker of a meeting with both sides keen to take home the points and with a new start time of 6pm it gives the Poole fans all day to plan a trip upto our part of the World, and for the Home fans be sure to turn out in force and make some noise for the lads who will thrive on the extra backing!

A great way to re start the comets season, yes a tough meeting against the pilots of Poole, but they can be beaten. We need to get as many supporters to Northside to cheer on the comets to victory against the pirates 😄

Really tough meeting for the Comets, hoping the team can rise to the challenge and sneak a win. This will be a great opportunity for fans to see a young man who seems destined to have a big future . Will Cairns has done many laps of the GT Tyres arena some under the supervision of Greg Hancock. He is going to be a big threat to all of the Comets while the whole Poole team will likely provide the sternest challenge we will have this season. I'm sure the boys will be up for this and they will need to be. Lets get behind them, it should be an absolute cracker. UTC 👊👍

Its good to see the comets are going to be racing again. I noticed that it was on the british speedway face book page and they had over 400 likes compared to other posts which only had about a hundred and something. I think i will go saturday and support the comets.

Yes good to hear that the Comets have got whatever it was sorted, and are ready to get racing again. We can't afford to loose any more speedway clubs.

Interested to see how Vinnie goes this season, many didn't want to see him leave the Pirates. Good luck to you on Saturday just don't win.

Saturdays meeting is going to be very difficult against a powerful Pirates side which includes the fast starting Premiership rider Richard Lawson, former Comet Paul Starke and the new sensation Will Cairns.

Lets all get behind the Comets and try to help them put up a fight and sink the Pirate ship!!

We will need something extra special. Vinnie will be looking to do well I'm sure, lookout Starke and Cairns 😅

Obviously riders should want to do well every week, but Vinnie should have some extra motivation to beat Starke.

Very warm morning in Workington today. Hoping for a good evenings racing and a solid crowd too.

Hopefully with the later start time, the track will race even better than before.

Can’t see anything other than a pirates win however, just thankful we have speedway to go and watch.

Be interesting to see how many Poole fans travel to worky ? They have very good home crowds, be interesting to see how many of these travel to support the team and other clubs 🤔 unfortunately can only see a pirates win, just hope plenty of fans turn up are entertained and return in the future UTC

Can also only see a poole win. Lawson is obviously fantastic but they also have Rowe, kerr, and cook who can all put in solid performances. Cook looked phenomenal last season at northside and I'm pretty sure he was beating our heat leaders.

I can only hope that hook can continue his form from last time out and Bowes continues his form from Poland.

Zishcke is no longer riding with Bowes thankfully so I hope that helps him out.

There will be the NIDS travelling up but a truly awful day to travel with such a long journey and 34C expected. With a stream I would think hundreds will pay the £11.99 to watch and save a fortune on fuel.
