With a stream I would think hundreds will pay the £11.99 to watch and save a fortune on fuel. Only 26 Deg in the frozen north comets lager required to keep hydrated 😁
crescent girl
Workington people must have had a shock when they heard about the troubles, and it must be a wake-up call for lapsed supporters to get over to the north side and see how good speedway can be. No excuses, rally the troops and get the terraces teeming! You've got a superb speedway. Use it or lose it. They have very good home crowds, be interesting to see how many of these travel to support the team and other clubs 🤔 unfortunately can only see a pirates win, just hope plenty of fans turn up are entertained and return in the future UTC Why would they do an 800 round trip when you're not prepared to? What perplexes me most of all are the number of fans who followed the Comets pre 2019 some regularly away from home who have not as yet returned . It maybe just proves that if you get out of the habit a return is even less likely.

Was coming as part of a southern tour, but Poole put the brakes on that by moving the fixtures around, would think about 30 fans were doing the same. But now not many. Also I believe Poole upset Edinburgh fans by moving their fixture, then you wonder why speedway is dying

It's surprised me that, unless somebody has, that nobody has approached Stoney about becoming team manager, if only on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at home, a name that may resonate with some of those lapsed fans.

I think this idea has been mooted before but I don't know if Stoney has ever been approaced officially. Carl had a great following at Worky, even had his own fan club.
Toady
All the best to Batch and the entire Worky team for a successful evening and for their continued success in the future. We cannot afford to lose another venue, particularly after the large investment and effort required to establish this one in the first place

But agree with your first point, far more appealing travelling from Workington to Poole as part of a tour than a one-off match.

Can't imagine Stoney wanting to learn the rulebook or get involved in the paperwork or travelling needed to be a team manager. However it could make sense to use him as a kind of "Brand Ambassador" to turn up at some home meetings and do some P.R. Whether or not Workington would be willing, or think it viable, to pay him to do this, is another question. I know Stoney has done some commentary work on the Belle Vue streaming service, but that's 5 minutes away from home for him, not a 4-hour+ round trip. Do something (or stop doing something), for 28 days continuously, and you then become "unconsciously competent" at it, and it becomes your norm... Which is why so many clubs who choose to go so long without a meeting, is truly baffling... And a big risk... Hope the crowd is a big one this evening...
