Ipswich Witches vs King’s Lynn Stars - KO Cup 2nd Leg Thursday 17th July

Recommended Posts

Wow, what a result. I'd go as far as to say result of the last decade. To beat that Ipswich side over 2 legs is an outstanding result.

Young Chris must be raking in loads of ££ with all this local derby stuff .... shouldn't think he will be too bothered by a KO Cup exit. Might be more upset if his sesaon is cut short by not making the p off final.

Tim Brennan and Adam Ellis well poor tonight. Cost Ippo the tie.

Adam scored over his average. Not sure how you worked out that he cost them the match.

They don't. They might moan a bit. The only riders they boo are Barker and Craig Cook but even that not much anymore.

Anyway back to the Prem!..

Ipswich fans were booing Kerr and the referee who walked through …..

Not one Ipswich rider got booed

Don’t worry it’s just people with a lack of knowledge who find it easy to stick the knife in

Brennan and Dan T cost is tonight but are recently superb against Belle Vue …. It happens

Brilliant performance from the Stars, did not see that coming without their number one! (Before anyone starts, yes he’s only a 6+ rider, but statistically the No.1). This is actually good for British speedway, a team that won’t make the playoffs offs having overcome the team (over two legs) that everyone assumed would sweep up all before them. Only going by the Updates site, but even when you have two of the best riders in the league delivering to expectation, the rest of the team still have to contribute to a certain level.

The final will be a cracker between the two teams probably the the most evenly matched in the league.

I dont care. But I know for sure Louis won’t want to walk away because of 1 result.

Too many years of putting heart and soul into Ipswich having stopped it going under in the 90’s and then pandering to the hierarchy who run the sport to not selling out to Mr Chapmam to not having weekly meetings and being left with what is a shadow of what the sport was just a few years back, just how much does an owner/ promoter persevere before you decide I am flogging a dead horse. I remember weekly meetings at Foxhall with good support and every effort was made to get a meeting on despite the weather etc but now that has all gone by the wayside. The Louis family have put more than most into the sport but surely they eventually draw the line on a failing business model.

Hey Gavan, instead of worrying about Poole's track, Poole's team etc, think you have more pressing issues with your own team 😂

And for the record Tom Brennan never let us Pirates down

You’re still favourites for the league. Your blip actually come at right time because there is plenty of time to come out the other side which I’m sure will happen as you get into the play offs stages

not one Ipswich fan can question Louis commitment to you. And it will carry on for the forseable as he’s an Ipswich fan and probably pinches himself that he own his home town club

Witches were well below par tonight, but I’m sorry anyone who thinks Kerr’s move on Dan T was fair and square has got rose tinted glasses on, Dan passed him fair and square up the top turn and Kerr was probably still two bike lengths behind him going past the start finish and into the first turn bend 1

standing on the second bend exit myself and everyone around me were certain that there was contact including the kings Lynn fans beside us, as the rider in front Dan could’ve easily ridden across to the inside going into turn 1 lap 4 but knowing Kerr was coming steaming under him from miles back some self preservation ensued and he rode a little wider and was still sent tumbling.

as the rider in front is entitled to ride where they want should he of chopped Kerr off and stood it up in front of him and made sure they both definitely crashed?

it’s a shame for it to end on a crash and questionable as it was a closely fought tie between rival teams, and despite being below par tonight on their home track the witches still had a chance of winning the tie on aggregate having moved into a 5-1 in heat 14

Ah so you can comment on here but I can’t on the Poole thread … typical Poole fan

Were you there tonight then? Curious you’ve travelled from Manchester to watch this meeting instead of down to Oxford to watch your own side?

Dan had nowhere to go, there is hard then there is stupid. Kerr was about 5 bike lengths back and just dive bombed and couldn’t stop in time so Dan took avoiding action. We were crap tonight, apart from Doyle and Emil who were the only ones who knew the assignment by the looks of things! They must be pissed off with the likes of Brennan and Ellis, again we are relying on Emil and Doyle when the whole point was to have a strong ‘team’.

Trust a bloody Sheffield rider to ride dirty against Ipswich and take us out! Although saying that, in heat 3 Lawson literally shoulder barged Brennan out of the way when Brennan had more speed and went on the overtake on the back straight.

No excuses though, sh!t show from Ipswich from all riders but Emil and Doyle IMO. Hawkins need to have a conversation of a ‘reality check’ if they think we are winning the title like this. It’s boarder like embarrassing losing so many times this season to Lynn and Ellis and Brennan have been the culprits in most of them.

The final doesn’t consist of the top three league teams… work that one out haha.

Correct, there was no contact but is there any reference to contact in the rule book, I am not sure there is.

In my opinion, the only reason that there was no contact was because Thompson took action to avoid it losing control as he did. Was coming in at that speed from that far back hard or reckless, in my view it crossed the line into reckless but I’ve seen those decisions go both ways.

Having been to both legs, the Stars deserved to go through. Too many unforced errors from the Witches tonight.

What the hell are you doing to our  Tom? He went from last pick RS to leaving us on a (old school with bonus) 7.16 average in 2023. He has added 0.25 to that and he has Jason, Emil, Chris etc around him. It’s not working for the poor lad.

We need to get him back at the ATPI track days with Jason to set him back on course.

Some time as a second string will help him I am sure...

If his average will see that happen...?

The issue is though that someone else will have to go to No 3, and they could struggle like Tom...

Dan T is so key for the Witches, and that is a big responsibility for the young lad....

The Witches have narrowly lost out to local rivals in the semifinal of a Mickey Mouse sport. Please don’t call the Samaritans as they will probably tell you to f**k off. If Ipswich speedway have problems the sport is as good as done in this country. Move on and enjoy!

You can score your average and still cost your team the match.

He gave up three 5-1s tonight. That’s poor from both of them, not just Brennan. Just because he got 3 points towards his average coming third each time it’s acceptable as far as I’m concerned. You’re better than your teammate who is having a stinker… congrats.
