Leicester are the team to beat … comfortably beat Belle Vue over 2 legs and now beat Sheffield over 2 legs

Wishful thinking, but if we could get Becker and Gilkes back in the saddle come the play offs, I’d back the Lions over two legs over anyone (yes, that includes Ipswich). Injuries and form between now and then of course could play a major part in that, but that’s speedway.

If Becker is fully fit, dont think Gilkes would be any better.

Leicester looking even more impressive with every passing meeting.

Sheffield have morphed into the Gorzow of British Speedway where they're relying on a youngster at reserve to do other riders jobs for them.

Gilkes would come back to replace Thompson. My eyes and averages would suggest that Gilkes is an upgrade on Thompson. (Should add however that Joe was great tonight, showing a bit more muscle to pick up some valuable points).

If that’s the case, I’d love to know what options are out there! Nowt on EBay from what I’ve seen. Did hear on BSN that Reg Wilson was at the track tonight. Riders have made come backs before! Enjoyed the BSN coverage tonight. More professional than TNT and still humorous. Really warming to the Scottish guy (forget his name). When talking to the team captains at the coin toss, Pickering asked him if he was a good tosser, to which he replied along the lines that he had a reputation for it. Probably went over some viewers heads, but it made me laugh.

Just got back from Sheffield and there was a decent crowd, but the track was woeful.  It's better watching that racing live than on TV, but for Jack getting up the inside of Fricke in Heat 1 and then a proper pass to see off Masters in heat 15, there was nothing.  Not sure how they'd prep it to be different, but might be better if it was a lot slicker.  Dirt on the outside like that made for a none event as a spectacle.

Yes, but, Leicester's achiles heel might rear is head again if/when the weather turns come play off season, as they don't seem to be able to adapt quickly enough when the track is anything out of the usual at home, as shown again on Monday vs Sheffield...

And it still remains to be seen whether Luke Becker's injuries have healed enough  for him to make a return to the UK when he's back on track again, if you know what I mean!

Personally I think Leicester are ok with r/r and Joe. No guarantee riders coming back from injury will fare any better, r/r works, Lawson guested tonight, I am sure  r/r would have scored more.

Jan Staechman said during heats 1,2 and 3 going to be some good racing later on when the track settles, heat 7 and he now says there’s just one racing line….Tatum is a different level to Jan.

You mean Tatum's inane ramblings? I think I would rather listen to Jan any day over the ex public schoolboy

Leicester really seem to have Sheffield in their pockets right now, saw them win there the other season and tonight's is another impressive result! They are certainly gathering momentum whilst Sheffield appear to be losing it!

If Leicester can continue to use Fricke for one R/R it's better than having Becker back I believe.  Though I'd move Howarth to #2 and put R/R at 3, 4 or 5 so Fricke doesn't have to be used in heat 8.

I think it works well at 2, could put him at 3 and use him in a later race but that would mean consecutive rides.

It is wasted in heat no. 8 with Fricke against a second string at 2 rising stars, but maybe Dickson sees it as a guaranteed 3-3 and Thompson might get the better of his counterpart and they sneak a 4-2 out of it
