Leicester v Ipswich 18/08

Lots of questions going into this.

Can Dan Thompson re find his early season form, Will Edward’s best his opposite number & can Brennan find some consistency.

The Witches should pick up the bonus point but at the moment seem to have found some inconsistency & are certainly making hard work of things at time.

For Leicester the big question is how will Becker far.

Should be a good match fingers crossed the Witches find their early season form.

The inconsistency of the Ipswich team still concerns me…..I am not counting my chickens yet.

Quite.  If the Witches face the Aces in the semi I can see them being beaten over two legs - past performance is no guarantee of future return!

I think this will be tight... I'm amazed at Becker's recovery, but like others have said, this meeting might be too soon for him to score the points that R/R has been getting in his absence.

Why? Appreciate we all have opinions, just interested in your reasoning for this. Belle Vue are simply not as good and by a margin. Of course it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they’d win over two legs, but it will be an upset and against all logical reasoning if they did so with two full strength teams.

If Ipswich lose to Belle Vue in the semi final and we are at full strength, then we’ve choked IMO and failed badly as a team.

same convo happened last year after getting hammered on aggregate against the challenging teams,

same happened in 2022 when we won the play offs

in 2021 when Peterborough won, we beat them 4 times out of 4 in league, then play offs they beat us

so while yes, i think this is the year that we probably wont change our fortunes, you cant write us off just yet, play offs are a different animal

Simply because things do happen.  At Foxhall recently I could have easily seen the Aces get a 5-1 in Ht13 rather than the other way around.  Thompson showed he can register a poor score as can others and I think Aces can beat Ipswich at their place and bring a few points in hand.  I'd have put £20 on the Witches reserves outscoring the Aces reserves but they didn't.  Speedway can be unpredictable - I though Redcar would muller Plymouth on Saturday but far from it, they nearly lost!

Ipswich have been to Belle Vue 3 times this season (so far).

Only 1 Ipswich rider has beat Dan Bewley in those 3 meetings.

Would think Ipswich would win but as you say nothing guaranteed (2 seasons ago Ipswich beat Belle Vue when they weren't favoured to do so in the playoffs).
