The announcement on his own Facebook page indicates that he hasn't signed elsewhere: "At this stage I'm unsure what's next". Either the Comets didn't want him back or he didn't fit into their team building jigsaw

Don't think so. 8.20 with a 2.5% reduction is 7.995, which would normally round up to 8.00. It might depend though on if there is a more specific calculation. I'm also not sure if there is a specific rule on rounding. To be honest though, I'd be surprised if anyone actually asked the question. Top rider on his day but too many issues

Jon Boy
Stunned no Hook. Things must have changed higher up the riding order to mean they have moved to a plan B without him.Ā

I think you'd be mental if you're feeling alienated because Jacob Hook hasn't been signed.

Hooky had A LOT of supporters and was the best rider in 2025, yet doesn't appear to have been rewarded for his efforts (assuming this is a comets decision obviously).

Adamski1282
So, as things stand, the two 2025 comets that have been signed for 2026 are the ones whose averages reduced throughout the season? Presume this is the management hoping that 2026 will be the year they push on from whatever challenges/issues/injuries they had last year...

Yes, thatās unfortunately the way speedway works sometimes. Hooky was excellent last year but when you do well in the sport, occasionally it can go against you. The promotion obviously believe thereās more room for improvement with the riders theyāve brought back than there is in Jacob (not entirely sure about that) Tate should definitely improve back to 2024 levels and hopefully last year was a learning curve for Vinnie and he can kick on, heās never short on effort. Certainly makes things interesting for Workington, should see some new faces. Have to feel big time for Jacob, hopefully he gets a place next year. JC81
although im gutted , hook would of been in main body on his avrg . thats a big risk for me i wouldnt take and unfortunately its just speedway and something we Ā see every year . will of been a hard decission Ā to make no doubt Ā , will see what comes of itĀ
