I was just wondering if anyone else who subscribes has had delivery problems? I have always received my copy thursday mornings for years, since august its been arriving 6 days late, its not the publishers who despatch it as usual. Thought about postal strikes but for 4 months? Anyway after years of subscribing i wont be renewing its better now to just go to Sainsburys thursday morning as its always on the shelf or order it from the local newsagents. Royal Mail cant be relied upon.

Afraid I did the same, for the same reason!

TBH it's late most weeks, sometimes very late.  I asked the postwoman, was told they deliver 1st class letter post in my area every other day, alternate weeks i.e. "one week it's Monday, Wednesday & Friday, the next it's Tuesday, Thursday & maybe a Saturday".  Nice of them to bother🤔.  Used to be on time every Thursday, even during lockdown, delivery issues really started when they used clear plastic bags, been getting ever worse since....

Newsagents are the best source of supply

Normally arrives either on a Thursday or a Friday for me. On the odd occasion and it can go into the following week, mainly on a Monday but that is down to Royal Mail’s unpredictability.

What a surprise

A lot of most royal mail depots only deliver mail on certain days of the week and not at weekends, unless it's a parcel, so may explain a slight delay to the star delivery

I get all other mail without problems but instead of the regular postman we have different ones all the time and delivery times can be from 10am to 1600 seems to be all over the place

We are the same regarding irregular delivery times. For years are regular postie would deliver between 8.30am - 9am. Then when he relocated we have had several different ones who all now deliver between 11.30am to 2pm.

I spoke to the regular postman some time ago before all the deliveries went haywire, he told me then parcels were being prioritised over letters and that he had more parcels on his round up to 25kg, i think Royal Mail had to try to compete with the likes of Amazon and DPD at the expense of regular mail, emails will no doubt have had an effect on the volume of letters. Be interesting to see if magazine subscriptions have fallen generally nationwide.

Would agree the problem is definitely Royal Mail.Ihad lots of problems in Dec/Jan.Postman said the same to me regarding Parcel. It has reverted to normal over the summer though. Also believe it was lack of Staff in my area.

The Royal Mail got fined (again) last week for failing to meet delivery targets...

They have, (once again), asked for the targets to be lowered....

They are useless...

Playing devil's advocate

They have all the targets and obligations for standard day to day Mail but have had all the lucrative parcel deliveries deregulated and offered out to the market

The rest of the market don't want the expense of the promise of UK wide guaranteed delivery for standard mail day in day out

Effectively they have been tied to providing the 'loss leader' without the accompanying profitable additional lines

Is it time for Royal Mail to loose the "Royal" tag, or should they be ordered to use "Royal Replacement" or perhaps "Guest Delivery" ?

R.R. for me. 😉

Royal Mail deliveries are very haphazard, but I'm pretty lucky with mine.

My post normally comes between 10am - 11am.      I'd say that 60%-70% of the time my Star arrives on Thursday.  When it doesn't, it almost always arrives on Friday morning.   Very, very rarely it's the following Monday morning.

However last week it arrived at 4pm on Saturday.  I rarely get post on a Saturdfay, and never at 4pm, so I don't know what happened.

I agree most weeks it turns up Monday or even Wednesday by which point it’s no longer really relevant.

i have not renewed for this reason.

need to make digital copy available for paper subscribers to ease the pain as some weeks I didn’t even bother to open the envelope.
