Reasons to be positive

With all the doom and gloom on here over the Winter, am I the only one that can’t wait for the season to start? I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for the season to come round for many a season with the line ups in all leagues looking close and competitive.

As some as the biggest fans of the sport, and therefore most likely to attract new supporters, can’t we all look at the positives rather than the negatives?

Positives

- Same number of tracks as last season.

Yes ok so some some tracks have chosen not to run in as many leagues as last season (particularly national league) but in terms of actual tracks running, we are at exactly the same number as last year. We’ve lost Birmingham and Kent but gained the yet to be announced new prem team and Buxton

-  We still have a premiership 

Great news for Sheffield and Ipswich fans (sale almost completed) that are back at the tapes and with a high chance of a brand new team joining we are just 1 team down from last season and some top stars already back, Holder, Bewley, Douglas, Kurtz etc.

- Bright young British stars

I honestly think we have some of our most promising young riders coming through for years and if we don’t put too much pressure on them and they keep progressing as they have been then Cairns, Rushen and Scott could be the future Lambert, Bewley and Brennan

- The fight goes on

Despite all the negativity about the sport dying there are still passionate fans and businessmen out there fighting to bring back former tracks, Coventry, Peterborough, Rye House, Lakeside, Kent, Eastbourne, Swindon, Wolverhampton and no doubt more we don’t know about with rumours of 1 or 2 new locations too. 
 

I’m not wearing rose tinted glasses and pretending everything with the sport is perfect by any means but please put things into perspective and give some credit where it’s due, be grateful to the promoters and sponsors that put their hands into their pockets to keep the sport we love going and do everything we can to support it. If we give up then we’ll lose it forever.

Seeing if Guest numbers are well up from their pitifully low 196 in 2025? 

Seeing if £30 admission can be the norm in the top tier?

Seeing if you can watch your team race at every track in the top tier within a month of the season starting?

Seeing which rider can have the best excuse for missing UK meetings, whilst still riding in either Poland, Sweden, or Denmark or following his own individual ambitions?

Seeing which promoter can have the best reason for calling off a meeting, (with a special bonus for the one who uses the longest ranged weather forecast)?

Exciting times indeed do lie ahead...

its because most fans compare the current state of the sport back to a bygone era.  alas its gone and will never return.

Positivity talk to me! Markus O'Markie I share your positivity!  There are many great men in British Speedway who will help it shine through in 2026 and prove the doubters wrong on here!  There are 4 men in particular, all great friends of mine who will bring the glory times back to the sport!

Main Man Rogers - a lifelong friend and loyal associate of Terry Tibbs, what Main Man Rogers doesn't know about speedway isn't worth knowing, look at what he has done for the sport at Mildenhall, Newport and Birmingham, now he's at Buxton that place will thrive I can tell you. I have already allowed him to use Krystof Stojanowski's caravan which for many years was parked in the car park of the Smallbrook Stadium on The Isle of Wight!     Now the legacy of the mighty Stojanowski can be seen as the VIP lounge at the Buxton Raceway!   So many memories of that high spec model built in 1987, I got a great deal off the Haven Holiday Camp in Bembridge back in 2004, £1000 plus a lovely oil massage from my 2nd wife Bertha convinced the salesman to let it be towed from the resort that day by my Maz-za-raty!   I just hope Main Man Rogers has cleaned the seats, it's been in Busty C's car park at the Arena of Norfolk for a few years and Busty, his lad Little Jonny and Big Dale Boy, hosted a party with Robert the Lyon Heart which saw several buxom wenches from Bulgaria pay a visit to celebrate Busty's new pit gate!   Anyway, Terry digresses and on with my next speedway great...

Jimmy Lynch - a lifelong friend and loyal associate of Terry Tibbs, what Jimmy Lynch doesn't know about Team Management isn't worth knowing, he's been on a well deserved sabbatical but he's back for 2026!  watch this space as the Premier Teams are queuing up to secure Jimmy Lynch's services!

Philip Morris -  a lifelong friend and loyal associate of Terry Tibbs, what Philip Morris doesn't know about CEO'ing isn't worth knowing! A protégé of Terrence Tibbs, 2 years work experience as my lead valet boy at T Tibbs Motors (Europe) Limited of Chingford in the late 1990's meant he could shadow myself to gain fantastic business acumen whilst learning all about Speedway from my Assistant Director of Safeguarding Main Man Rogers!    Look at Big Phil now, I remember another associate of mine Timothy Sugar telling me that lad had potential and what Timothy Sugar doesn't know about potential isn't worth knowing!

Ryland Guest - a lifelong friend and loyal associate of Terry Tibbs, what Ryland Guest doesn't know about presenting isn't worth knowing!  Mentored by Main Man Rogers who used to sit Ryland Guest on his knee and tell him stories about speedway that left Ryland Guest so excited about the sport he enrolled himself on The Main Man Rogers seminar on how to present a meeting and look at Ryland Guest now trusted by Damo to have the freedom of the steel city, wanted by Lemsip for the Stad de Speedway and having to turn down Busty & Dicko as he can't be in 3 places at once!   

The Fab Four will shine through in 2026, Marky you can mark my words!
