The main thing British Speedway does wrong is the lack of information even if there isn't much to tell and rhats happening here unfortunately. Literally, seven figures spent on riders, (who Average Joe Public will never have heard of), yet hardly anything on professional PR, Media output, and Event Management.... Absolutely crackers!!!!
paulnolan
It's actually six weeks until the first meeting, six weeks tonight. Still, a club name wouldn't hurt!

If they could persuade the powers that be to put on a decent individual meeting to raise the profile it should be successful. Unfortunately due to the upcoming fuel crisis 😧 I don't think many people will be prepared to travel to Northampton or anywhere else for that matter

Happy Hunter Posted yesterday at 12:44 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:44 PM Everybody seems to have forgotten that for several years Milton Keynes, which is only 20 miles from Northampton, had a team. Thats a lot nearer than Coventry, Peterborough and Wolverhampton!

Milton Keynes “The Grove” was just a tad over 4 miles from Newport Pagnell. But at 9.6 miles it’s very close to Brafield so let’s hope folk take the time to take in a few enjoyable meetings. Guess t he Cobblers will be hoping that hte Stock Car supporters will transfer their allegiance to the 2 wheeled sport ?

There was an MK MDL team a few years ago, until the nomadic teams were abolished. Some fans came to Birmingham, at least.
BluPanther
Well, if Charles Wright was pencilled in for Northampton, they will now have to find a replacement...

It's certainly not an ideal start for the newcomers...
Fromafar
I wish Northampton well , but it does look a bit of cobbled together by Premiership Promotions to save theirselves.Who is chipping in the cash to get this project up and running though is the question that remains a mystery . According to Mark Lemon in the Speedway Star, the promoters (who and how many not confirmed), and some "outside investors"... Attracting a fanbase to support a team put together by the owners and promoters of some/all (?) of your opponents in the same league could be a bit of a tough sell... If they don't do well some may not be "too surprised" given their opponents put the team together..

I wonder if Plymouth still have their spare rider in storage somewhere? Maybe put him on a train and send him up to Northampton just to familiarise the new Northampton fans just what they're getting themselves into 😁
