Everybody seems to have forgotten that for several years Milton Keynes, which is only 20 miles from Northampton, had a team. Thats a lot nearer than  Coventry, Peterborough and Wolverhampton!

From what I remember of Elfield Park and going there was that although the viewing areas around the track were elevated, the track itself was pants!

I've not seen it but just from reading the description on updates it sounded like a nothing fall... and he was stuck under the air fence. Another case of a rider ending up under the air fence, why is this still happening some 20 years after their introduction 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone know if any research has been done comparing injuries before and after the introduction of air fences? For example how many injuries have been caused by a rider bouncing off an air bag into the path of another rider.

Most air fence injuries are caused by the bike going in before the rider and lifting the fence off the floor and then the rider going under it.

I thought there was going to be an investigation, in Poland, after DJ Woffy's crash last year... don't know if anything ever came of it?

Milton Keynes ....last raced in Milton Keynes back in the early 90's  ? Think i was a Hackney supporter then .  Doubt there are many supporters who still have their programme boards  from 30 years ago ? Guess the Cobblers will be hoping that the Stock Car supporters will transfer their allegiance to the 2 wheeled sport ?

The flaw in that plan is that Stock Car racing isn't a 'local sport' and is very much a 'travelling circus'. There are fans in all areas, but the bulk of the fans at Northampton on Saturday night would have been at Kings Lynn the previous Saturday, and will probably be at Scunthorpe next Saturday.

I would hazard a guess that on average, only about 10% of the crowd at a stock car meeting live within 50 miles of the track. I do 35-40 meetings a season, but my nearest track is about 35 miles from my home, and most other tracks I visit are around 60-90 miles away, with others further still, such as Taunton at 220 miles, and St Day (Cornwall) and Cowdenbeath (Scotland) both just over 300 miles.

F1 stockcars still have a strong following in the North West due to past history, despite there no longer being any tracks up that way, so many fans at their meetings are travelling from North and West Yorkshire, Manchester and Lancashire.

I bet Northampton weren’t far away from announcing when Niels got injured… Lidsey and Klindt are definitely in

Doesn’t stop them announcing who is running it unless buster picked up an injury on his tractor and the others are so busy doing other things

Hopefully Buster didn’t crash his tractor in to the pit gate, because if it needs a new latch, this could put back the grand opening even further!

Wright didn't want Prem AFAIK, Iversen very much on Northampton's radar and that may still be the case despite his fall. Smektala also in the frame as well as others already mentioned on the thread.

Are you sure? He was one of the riders saying there needs to be 2 leagues.

Yes that was the time I was really into the sport I can remember poor old Terry's woes he was another fella who went from being relatively wealthy to skint by the end of his promoting days.

I'm pretty sure Terry used to comment on a  forum that i followed many years back, long before this one existed.

He always seemed to be suffering with noise complaints after each meeting even though the track was pretty remote.I recall once when "one of the usual people" sent in the regular complaint about excessive noise at the previous night's meeting even though it had been called off a couple of days previously.

It surprised me too but I heard that once he got sorted at Landshut he didn't need/want Prem.

Might not be true of course but if it is I wonder if his experience at Oxford last year put him off?

Is there still nothing on the riders for the coming season?

Not officially as far as i know.

Lidsey, NKI, Klindt, and Kerr was four that i was told a few weeks ago. But with NKI's crash, that might of changed.

I hope I'm wrong but this has all the hallmarks of not happening. At all.

If the people that are behind it think that a total news and marketing blackout is a good decision then they're wrong and they're clearly not business people.

Track prep, starting gate, track lights (ie green and red lights for racing) airfence (and on and on) all need sorting. And that's before you assemble a team. If someone was to confirm who's promoting the venue and where they're at with the above (and more) then maybe fans would feel excited or at least confident about the future.

Silence does you no favours and no news is always worse than bad news.

That’s the four I was told alongside Harrison as the RS.

Could be a reshuffle with NKI being out or they go R/R until he’s back and get what the can for the final three, also told that  Wright was approached but he turned them down weeks ago

No way they could get a facility for a rider who hasn't even been named in their 1-7 let alone not ridden for them.      Maybe a 'no facility' guest, but that'd be that....

With the way things are going they are probably going to be one of the weaker teams anyway... just what a new club needs to get the fans flocking in their thousands...!!!

If they are then also told that they can't have a proper facility for one of their chosen riders that really would put the lid on it...

Surely this should be a case of the famous... "In the best interests of the Sport"... rule... and this would be one of the more reasonable applications of it...
