British final 15th August

Date announced for British final, good news it's on a Saturday night. Bad news 6 championship teams are riding the same night so either fans won't be able to go, or a mid summer fixture will have to be rearranged 🤔 . More bad news probably polish meetings so maybe unavailability of several riders 🤔.

Chances are those championship teams will have riders in the British final. I’d imagine they’d be rearranged, which begs the question why release them in the first place

Why have it when teams are on a mini northern tour. So rude! 🙈😉 Wonder how many riders will pull out of the meeting now there is no wild card on offer?

Promoters wonder why shortage of away fans at tracks 👀

There is no reason why they couldnt have decided when the BF was going to be before Championship fixtures came out especially if they are going to steal one of their race nights. It doesnt affect the Prem calendar. 

They definitely need to do an online course on how to be organised.

Got to feel ( a little bit 😜) for any Poole fans who were planning a mini tour to Edinburgh/ Workington in mid summer, with this new fixture many fans do not know if they can make plans to follow their team oop north

I doubt if the riders involved will accept the invite to the British Final if no GP wildcard is on offer, so no need to move the Championship fixtures

But I think about 30-40 Comets fans would normally go to the British final, now due to a possible clash of fixtures, British speedway will miss out on the travelling fans £25-30 admission money. Riders like say Richard Lawson or Craig Cook may want to go to the British final but at the moment the championship fixture clashes

Will some riders bother without the British SGP spot ??? 

BSPL will make the decision on the Wild Card. Every likelyhood it will be Tom Brennan and/or Leon Flint.

Well if it is all about publicity and marketing give Fri to Scott Nicholls and the Sat to Chris Harris. For services to British Speedway and the farewell tour for the former.

Should guarantee some extra press coverage and then make one of the reserves Cooper Rushen / Will Cairns each night.

Speedway Regs 14.1  relating to the British Final includes this paragraph:

A Rider who withdraws will not under any circumstances be permitted to participate in any other speedway event on the same date

So the choice for the Championship is to rearrange or run with facilities

Hasn't the call over the last few years been "Why are we running the British Final on a Monday - it needs to be a Saturday night to attract a bumper crowd"

Now it is set to be many are up in arms

It affects one night in 6 months - get over it

There should be no other meetings than the British final run on this date.

It will maximise the amount of fans attending and free up all riders.

It's not rocket science, we have so many free dates throughout the year it can't be that difficult can it?
