Premier Sports most likely I'd say, when (if) they work out who would be paying the production costs

Phil Morris mentioned a few weeks ago in the Speedway Star that they had turned down a good offer from Premier Sports to cover this season.

I think their subscriber numbers would be too low for that to be worthwhile.

The exposure and viewing figures could possibly be less than BSN so not worth it as most sports fans  will likely have a Sky sports and possibly TNT subscription but will not pay out an extra £10-17 a month for Premier sports.

In fact back in June it was found at times there was a lot more people watching for free streaming on firestick and such like that than there was using official services

So a "good" offer was turned down and no tv contract was entered in to for this season. Doesn't quite add up that

The ongoing question for any terrestrial or indeed cable tv channel is who is it envisaged will pay the production costs?

1. The BSPL

2.The tv channel

3. A combination of the above

I don't know why you'd turn down a "good offer"?

Could have Premier Sports & BSN both showing Premiership Speedway?

Maybe it was for a longer-term deal and they didn't want that?

Figures I can find from 2022 show their subscription numbers as 222k. Unless that has very heavily increased I don't see much benefit from it. Those kind of numbers aren't going to help grow the sport much over time. If they have/had confidence that a deal with Sky, TNT, ITV etc was possible I think it makes sense to wait.

BBC or ITV will know doubt get in and amongst it with Richard at the houses of parliament the other month and putting forward a case on how to grow the sport. More tracks to come back, more coverage for the general population to casually turn on TV and watch without subscriptions etc. It’s the only way to grow it. TNT and Sky get the sport subscriptions purely for football let’s face it. People still won’t watch speedway even if it is available to them because they are paying for what they want. BBC and ITV would feel more of a bonus free sport for a casual fan to pick up when bored and nothing else on TV.

I was pretty sure ITV were coming on board next season. The play off finals were going to be shown on ITV but now not. So somethings happened. So I fear ITV stepped away now

British Speedway has to be on ITV or Sky Sports imo.

Premier Sports just doesn't have the numbers to grow the Sport and I can't see people signing up to TNT Sports just for Speedway tbh, BSN is great for die hards but that's not going to get new fans on board either imo.

Pretty much everyone will have Sky Sports if they're a Sports fan as it's got everything you want so if British Speedway was going behind a subscription service then Sky is the best option as it's the most likely platform to get new fans on board but that boat has sailed unfortunately.

Only other way I see the Sport growing is ITV4 because it's free to air, So let's see what happens next season.

Maybe they're waiting until next season for a stronger League featuring more teams as part of a British Speedway reset?
