Once upon a time the bottom half of the series automatically went into the challenge. As others have said if you exclude GP riders you risk weakening the field for the series. I too would like to see some fresh faces in the GPs but if they can’t beat the old guard in the qualifying events then perhaps they aren’t ready or good enough to get there.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the sgp qualifying system. Just because Zagar and NKI aren't winning SGPs they are in my opinion still in the top 16 in the world.

You're spot on.. point is, even at this stage of their careers, both Zagar and Iversen are capable of winning a GP.

You're totally right, what a nonsense speedway is. It should be like football where the top 8 sides in the World Cup are seeded to the next event.. All the others aren't allowed to qualify as they had their chance. Speedway fans... I despair at times.

Craig's adventure to qualify for the GPs is over. I wonder how much his injury has affected him plus the Eastbourne stushie. However he did win one race beating Vaculik, Fricke and Pavlic. He also beat Iversen, Lambert and Bellego. Some good scalps seeing as Iversen and Fricke both qualified. On the other hand he must have got the set up wrong in his first race as he finished last with Chris Harris even beating him for 3rd. So a good effort from our captain.

Whoever is in the series it's almost certain there will be 2/3/4 riders who are adrift over the course of the season and don't really look like having a chance of winning a GP. I agree that it would be nice to see some new faces but if the likes of Zagar and Iversen qualify then they deserve to be there. Would be different if they were being given a wildcard year after year but if they are proving themselves as the best of the rest in these meetings then fair enough.

By the same token,Should Bjerre ,Harris and Cook be allowed to enter again they have been there before and would add nothing to the GPS if they qualify.Imo everybody has the right to try and qualify again and if the do fair play to them

So you dont want the top 16 riders in the GPs then?

Would normally wish for Poole to get a good hiding but in the context of Play Off qualification an away win would be ideal.

He brought the house down when beating Briggo??? Stan is what speedway was all about a great team man.

Only Robert knows how fit, or otherwise he is. However looking at his scores last night he ended the meeting with a win. Many people seem to think riders, after a long lay off can throw their leg back over a bike and just pick up where they left off. It’s takes a few races/meetings to get back to where you were. Only have to look at Wuffy. Long lay off and just finding his way back. Lets give Robert the time and space he needs to ride himself back to full match fitness. To be honest, if he rides Monday then I’m not expecting to much from him.

I'll be travelling to this. I have full belief in the Panthers to win this, and string a run of results together, to make the top 4.

The two go hand in hand, don't they?

This conversation has been had on here multiple times already. In short, its can hold 10,000 the same or bigger then several GP current venues, it wouldn't replace Cardiff, it would be in addition to Cardiff.

Why didn't we use Dan Thompson as a Tactical Substitute in heat 14? Also I would have thought Tom Perry was a better choice for heat 15 rather than Connor Coles.

Most Teams are carrying a “ passenger “ these days.

Down in Kent visiting relatives and popped over, so glad i did as this was possibly best meeting i've seen all year and for any neutral the semi final KOC between these 2 is a must i'd say. Best I've seen track there in a long time, no dust, even watering nice dirt line and enough passing for 3 meetings anywhere. Great atmosphere, all very friendly and Redcar most impressive the way they attacked the track and Eastbourne heat leaders and Newman outstanding.Anothrt big crowd too at Eastbourne 4th time i've been this season and looked over 1000 there again. I can't work out who'd take a mental advantage as Bears made a few errors mainly in midst of outstanding fast paced racing and Eagles fielding an NL reserve (Marson) for Bowtell may have a lot more up their sleeves as Edwards could easily have doubled his score but for machine issues. A shame this is not going to be KOC Final as surely either side will muller Newcastle in Final. Charles Wright a canny little dig at Craig Cook on the Parade, seemed to enjoy himself and a proper British Champion.

Still better than the rest though.! A lot of riders crumble under pressure at challenge over the years. Its not Zagar and Iversens fault if the can’t beat them.

The upside was he wasnt there to twit someone off and injure them....

I'm pretty much done on the subject,, all I do know is, it's gotta be one of the most un pro pro sports going, hence no major sponsors and a small fan base.

Let's just take the broken down van for example. When did it break down? Couldn't they hire a van? Couldn't the club get a van to him? This is supposed to be a pro sport, does that seem professional? Can you imagine say Hamiltons cat breaking down on the day of a race, oh okay Lewis, don't worry, we will use someone else. I used to love speedway, now I'm seriously starting to hate it., and my attendance is becoming less and less The sport in this country is so un professionall, its pathetic

I think the same with our reserves, both Adam and Jamie,. Adam had a couple of really good rides last night but all too often can slide off when under pressure. One thing I won't ever say though is that he hasn't got heart, he is a real team man. With the second half last night 10 rides I think, with some of the "bangs" he get he must feel battered the day after a meeting.

I'd be very interested in reading anecdotes regarding Ipswich & King's Lynn encounters knowing how important local derbies were once thought of amongst rival fans. We had our fair share at Cowley with derby matches between Oxford, Swindon and Reading...alas no longer.
