After all, he had ran a distant third in his fist race, and his two remaining programmed rides yielded a win and strange decision by Lemmon to put in Z Cook. Yes he may have featured in heat 15 but it would have been hard to justify given the performance Norick was putting in throughout the meeting and certainly no gurantee that he would have bettered both Leicester riders Fundamentally, Whereas the Aces got off to an absolute flyer in the first five heats the Lions were none existent. The stats make interesting reading. In the first five heats, a Lions rider finished last four times conceding four heat advantages as the aces raced to a 12 point lead. In the next nine races Lions finished last just once, notched up seven heat advantages to lead by four points with just heat 15 remaining where they duly collected the required two points. On balance, I would say the turning point wasn't the loss of JD but the much improved performance across the board by all of the Lions riders from heat six onwards.

I don’t know what the issue was but they also won’t have needed the flood lights for a football match in the middle of the day. I think it’s a bit silly of anyone to suggest it was anything other than a honest, uncontrollable issue.

With a seemingly ever-increasing lack of riders I would suggest removing averages. Probably something that would actually assist the Championship more but if there's even one rider losing out because of it then that is one too many. I presume the reason Alfie Bowtell for example is missing this year is because his home form for Plymouth gave him a false average, similarly for Kyle Newman last season. Go back a few years and Matthew Wethers suffered the same fate when Newcastle closed and there went a solid Championship rider never to be seen again. Eddie Kennett has done okay since his comeback, there's no reason why he couldn't have done that sooner if he hadn't been stuck with his old average until now. And those unattached riders should be also be allowed and even encouraged to take guest bookings. They get the opportunity to put themselves in the shop window and it obviously doesn't look as bad as a rider helping a rival team.

As for Garrity , he's out on release for which certain conditions are applied. it appears he has a curfew imposed , which is there for a reason ,who knows if he is spending the night with his girlfriend's or perhaps out on the prowl looking for another "old dear" that he could frighten & steal from He's a compulsive law breaker & deserves no respect from decent folk.
