Yeah i dont think we can carry 2 out of the top 5 in meetings. Maybe if Bowes was getting 7/8 home and away they may have gone with Dan. But he needs to race for at least a month/6 weeks to get the confidence up and be race fit. Also Kyle being in 2 5'1s last week probably sealed it along with last night. Leicester are ok as they can carry him for a bit without it affecting them too much. Different for us, i dont think we have the time to give him unfortunately.

Doubling Up has increased the "Guestfests" massively.... Get injured on a Monday and you could miss Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday... Meaning. Four Guests needed or RR.... Less riders per team could be an improvement as it would create "subs on the bench".... Most, if not all, of those without a team spot will already have jobs elsewhere so it won't be like they are investing in kit with no income... Just use a rider who hasn't got a fixture that day anywhere in Europe... Build a pool of "Loanees" who are not affiliated to any UK team who can come in to cover short-term... The near 200 Guests used last season is well on track to be smashed this... I wonder if Dan will be hit financially by his Polish team too...?

Kyle at reserve will be terrific, I am so pleased he is staying, always liked him, always gives his best for us.

Injuries are becoming more and more of a problem when trying to present even a bit of credibility for the sport when I went late 80's early 90's everything was based around the old british league and national league. Now days with riders competing in up to four different international leagues plus doubling down and more individual/team international competitions plus all the grand prix's the opportunities for injuries are way higher so we are less than a month into the season and some teams are decimated already turned up with guest,. r/r and irr. There really is no answer to this in the UK but it doesn't help from a point of view when selling the sport when teams turn up with half the stated riders missing or trying to build a bond with the local fans.

British final 15th August
Sir Sidney replied to Neila's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Yes, they can get there. Various flights available but not a lot of leeway -
I think you are right about the R/R & guest scenario with home and away meetings. If Dan is going to be out for any more than a month, I wonder if Dickson has thought about bringing in Sedgmen as a short term replacement? I think has away scores might be a concern though.

Too injury prone and another liability, no thanks.

seems to always happen when a rider gets more confident, and winning more races. hope he can keep improving when he comes back..

British final 15th August
Colinspeedway replied to Neila's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Will Bewley and Lambert be riding? Will they be able to get to Torun for the 16th August Polish league match? -
They get decent signing on fees though. He wouldn’t want to have to pay that back if he was to miss meetings.
-
Poland can't be paying Drew's bills, Godfrey should get him signed up in time for Berwick away.
-
Thats going to be a massive loss with Dan Thompson sidelined with a collarbone break. His present form is great so he'll be badly missed home and away

Does anyone else think it's crazy that Northampton are not being granted a full facility for the missing NKI...? It's not their fault that he's injured and it's not their fault that he's being advised not to fly because of his injury... Surely this is a perfect example of where the infamous "In the best interests of the Sport" rule should be applied... We have a new track starting from scratch, trying to attract and retain new fans... but in a sport that prides itself on having No Brakes...they are being asked to operate with an artificial hand brake applied... Seems ridiculous!!!!

Whilst I understand the points you make they are not actually correct. The concept of arriving at a final was to provide a winner takes all climatic last race rather than trip up “the favourites”. Consequently, as you say today’s system means those riders not making finals face a mountain to climb. Which of course is what happens with the leading (minority) riders more often than not making the finals, leaving the majority to scrabble up the mountain.
