  1. Past hour
  2. Given the reported size of their crowds each week, where is all the money going at Plymouth? - surely they're not paying silly money to riders (although their travel expenses bill must be higher than all the other clubs 😁)
  3. Feels almost symptomatic of the wider society at times. If a rider isn't the next child prodigy and pushing towards the GPs by 18/19, they get almost written off. Sometimes they end up quitting. As you say, you need riders who are, ultimately, just average. It's even more concerning when you look at the ages of some of the 'mid-level' Premiership riders now - Klindt, C. Holder, Harris, Lawson, King, Masters, Iversen - all have passed or are edging towards 40. What happens when we lose them?
  4. Looking at other teams the one 8 point rider rule must have been scrapped therefore we need to be pushing for two 8 point riders. Jeppersen & Klindt?
  5. Absolutely spot on if both in the same team nothing gained by Lawson shutting off to let cairns through
  6. Cairns "high"average is partly a consequence of lawsons "lower" average, you couldn't have both on "good' averages,so lawson might be the better call for next yr
  7. Having just read the brief AGM delay statement again, this part stands out ā€œA statement regarding next year’s structure, including any key regulation changes, will be issued when these details have been fully agreed and ratified, and this is not directly associated with the AGMā€. Can we assume by that that they haven’t actually yet agreed on a points limit in the top tier? Surely we haven’t got the farcical situation where they just can’t agree and the likes of Northampton, Lynn, Leicester? Are building towards 37, whilst Belle Vue, Ipswich and Sheffield are building towards 40? You wouldn’t bet against it would you!?
  8. Nothing confirmed yet for running in 2027 but remaining hopefull

  10. One of the most frustrating aspects of UK Speedway is the lack of these "engine room" type of riders.. Years of not developing UK riders has left many leaving the sport who now could be at this Second String/No6 level.. The very top level riders are a breed apart, but those in what I would describe as the "third level" ie "the average rider" make up the largest individual sector, and this country should have had many more riders of that level, which would have helped the sport in the UK enormously... Hopefully enough is being done to encourage that potential level of young rider to keep going...
  11. I remember Simon Wigg having a disagreement with the ACU over his commitments to British grass track & the fact that even as the current World Long Track Champion he would need to race in a number of club events to get a spot in the qualifiers for the British Masters before they would nominate him for the FIM Championship qualifiers. Simon took the choice to take out a Dutch racing licence & raced as a Dutch rider for a while. But at one meeting Simon was the winner & they played the Dutch National anthem at which point he stepped of the podium in protest.
  12. I think you are missing the point, most teams are having to weaken significantly to get back within the points limit and so keeping the Bears team similar with a much stronger back up to Wright with King as second heat leader is not too bad at all.
  13. I''m sorry, I simply do not accept this statement. I have supported Speedway since 1964, I am 81 years of age, and it was people who are elderly now who kept the Sport going years ago. I no longer attend as I am unable to do so, but crucially it has to be realised that we did our bit for Speedway. If the youngsters no longer wish to go that is not MY fault, it is the fault of the youngsters themselves or more likely the fault of Promoters, Management of Speedway, who have acted in such a cavalier manner with the sport they were responsible for running. Please do not blame the elderly who have paid their money over the years and supported Speedway through thick and thin.
  14. So swapping Allen for King and gambling on a 2 pointer is an improvement on 2026 ?
  15. I think the fact that one of them lived in Denmark and had a flight to catch, while the other one lived 10 minutes up the road might have had something to do with that.šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
  16. I thought I’d heard that about Jonas also. Something about making a a lot more money at his day job. So dosnt want to travel to the uk any more.
  17. Having the misfortune of knowing Cairns personally, I'd say perhaps attitude.
  18. Having the misfortune of knowing Cairns personally, I'd say perhaps attitude.
  19. Thought I'd heard something last year that he was finished with UK speedway ?
  20. Best ask @lewyas he seems to know everything about every team going by his posts 😜 Maybe he can tell us if Plymouth is running, as unfortunately last time I saw anything they were around 18k short of target for a new air fence
  21. Financial, is the only reason I can think of. I don’t believe they think he’s reached his ceiling I’m not having that one.
  22. That’s along the lines of what I’m thinking. Perhaps Gilkes instead of Kennett and maybe Allen instead of Zischke if we can’t get Zischke
  23. Seems a strange one. But Poole have a history of getting these things right. Of the youngsters that don't get brought back they don't tend to progress as expected (Hagon, Foord, Perry). Makes me wonder if there is another reason for not bringing Cairns back, and 'average doesn't fit' is just an excuse
  24. Good for selling season tickets and to make a team not look like cannon fodder... Which they then invariably become.. "Look at our league, isn't it competitive?".. Whilst many followers of the sport will already know it clearly isn't, and be proven right, usually around the end of May....
  25. 100% we’ve seen it so often that their assessed averages go south, very few have maintained it in first season
