Wild Cards for 2027
norbold replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Who do you think should get the wild cards? I don't think you've ever mentioned your view on this. -
Exactly why no one will move up as you try to screw them before it even happens.

Glad you enjoyed your night out, but if you think it was purely down to luck who wins then you didn't fully understand what you were watching. 😉 To the uninitiated, cars may have been taken out of the race randomly, and sometimes they are, but there are also ongoing feuds and team battles that mean a fancied runner getting taken out by a mate of another fancied runner. I am not saying there isn't an element of luck involved, but the winners of the major events usually come from the same small pool of drivers. Bunch of amateurs yes, in terms of the fact it is a hobby and you can't make a living from it, but the standard of driving and car prep is far from amateur. Some of them are almost semi-pro when you look at the equipment they are using both on and off track. Race engines are costing upwards of £5k and some of the drivers are racing every weekend up and down the country, with multiple cars being built in fully fitted workshops.

So much talk about Cairns & Rushen, but I am thoroughly enjoying watching Harrison plod along quite nicely at only 19. Would take him back at Northampton along with Kye Thomson. They should both be the first names on the team sheet for 27. I also have noticed how much Harris enjoys the track at Northampton, and with him living up the road in Rugby, I can absolutely see him as a Fox next year.

Jody has had 2/3 seasons in Champ before full season in the Prem? Whereas Cooper did both at same time. Throwing yourself in the deep end comes to mind!
-
Haha. Aint no one going to watch him ride. As for chances zero point, won't last 2 months let alone a season. 914 obvs.

Wild Cards for 2027
LagutaRacingFan replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Past performance should not justify a wild card. Freddie is over 40 and past it. -
Would that be because other countries sort their acts out, get riders signed and fixtures organised sometimes months before Britian can sort out even which teams are actually running ! Wright has been very loyal to Redcar turning down more lucrative moves as he rides where he enjoys it and hasnt chased the £ signs in the past so cant begrudge him chasing the big bucks in Poland in the time he has left .
-
Jody has been excellent this year. I think its easy to forget how young and inexperienced Cooper is sometimes. Hopefully they are both back, would welcome Fricke and Bomber too if they wanted to return but cho to the other three for me.
-
He is but you have to be so careful bigging up these kids as the next big thing. So many examples of 16 year olds who promised everything and delivered very little. Plenty of examples in the other direction as well of riders not tipped to do much, who suddenly come to life and go on to have great careers. You never can tell.
-
Could / would have got something out of that had Fricke not shafted Cook in heat 11. Which is quite remarkable after the dreadful start. Thank F 2026 is over!

Scott looks a better prospect than Rushen on current form. Rushen still young

What you on about now? Under 24 means anyone under 24 years old. There are loads of them in Ekstraliga. The juniors are under 24 years old aren’t they! -
All these that are saying they won't be going don't go anyway

Rushen has badly run out of steam towards the end of the season.
