Redcar vs Workington, BSN Series 10/04/26
SteelShoe replied to Marksman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
First of all I hope Vinnie isn't too beat up after lifting off the 4th bend and ploughing into the fence ( No tattie puns please 😉). Following a first ride where he struggled with the track he was much more competetive. Shame after superbly getting into a 5-1 behind Cookie and looking comfortable he lifted and couldn't get it down in time. This was always going to be a tough task but we were left rueing points thrown away when in good race positions. Niklas looks a real racer and I look forward to see him develop as he settles in to British racing. Signs are that consistency will be pivotal to our chances of competing at the sharp end. Well done the Bears who all chipped in. The 10 last places undid the Comets but there were some promising signs. UTC -

A game of two halfs , to use an analogy…. First half is the reason the sport is dying, track issues due to incompetent track preparation and having to be told how to fix it by the previous track curator who left the role because of the owners ! Took an hour on a freezing evening to sort it without a-decent explanation to the crowd. We were viewing on the back straight, normally great viewing point, but dust was just too much after two races so had to move to the home straight instead. After the tractor racing fiasco the second half of the meeting was much better with the close score and Comets getting in the groove and could have won the meeting if not for Vinnies loop when on a 5-1. Cook back to his best, Jeppesen very good. Bears relied on Klindt and Allen saving the day with the rest inconsistent but did enough to win the meeting but probably not the bonus point. overhall the diehards would have enjoyed it but went home feeling the cold and needing a hot shower whilst any newbies wont be coming back anytime soon. Redcar need better more consistent track preparation. P.S. Parked on the public road this time, much safer for the car. -

Considering Cluff has ridden in Poland for a season, then Plymouth last year. Tonight, he certainly looked like he had never ridden a bike before. As for Glasgow. I would hazard a guess and say Hausl won't be around too long. Unless, of course, he shows a liking to Glasgows track. -
Just like over here. Football in Poland is by far and away the No 1 sport... It isn't Poland's fault that speedway, in the UK, isnt anywhere near the top 10 followed sports... That fault lies squarely with those who have ran the sport for the past twenty five years or so.. This sport had literally hundreds of thousands watching it in the UK in the 70's... Then it made some fundamentally very poor decisions... Decisions which haven't ever been changed over the past twenty years or so... It certainly isn't Poland's fault that the sport in the UK is now a Mickey Mouse entity...

Was a fair result, Cluff looked like a novice as did Mario, Dan will be a good number 1 and his exploits in heat 15 nearly gave the Monarchs the win, he never gives up. -

I disagree, I think they should properly prep the track every time, that way if it gets on the track is set up for good racing, this match clearly wasn’t a good watch. -
A draw felt like a fair result overall I think. The tac sub changed the momentum certainly - I understand why the rule is there but the speedway purest in me dislikes it. That Glasgow side once they’re all up and running will take some stopping. If Flint stays as fast a he looked tonight that could be the difference. For Edinburgh, bit of a mixed bag and I’d love to see Sedgmen’s stats for ht15 over the past few seasons - I never think he’s going to pass anyone. I’d have Kye or even Paco in there ahead of him in heats like that tonight. Cluff won’t get long based on that showing. Jordy looked tentative early but found some speed as did Grahn. Thompson should be a solid no.1 and score well in most meetings.

Spot on. Nobody is going to throw money at Speedway over here because it's way down the pecking order when it comes to a list of priorities. England/UK compete to an Elite level standard at most sports and that's why certain Sports get the big money TV deals like Football, Rugby, Darts etc. Where's Poland is the complete opposite, Pretty much a talentless country when it comes to Sports outside of Speedway and voleyball hence why the TV companies will throw the zlotys at Speedway. -

Very good performance by our lads. Too many mistakes cost us. Some self inflicted, some inflicted by the piss poor track. That first bend was atrocious. The guy on the tractor looked like he didnt have a clue. UTC! -

Of course they are .. The sport, in the UK, has no credibility, integrity, or authenticity.... It just exists so 30 year old, and plus, riders can keep riding... You win any league in the UK, and, who cares? Hardly anyone... Especially as to win it, the team probably borrowed a rider from one of their competitors... A joke sport in the UK... But a major sport in Poland...
