Scunthorpe v Poole 10/4/26 KO Cup second leg
rearingtogo replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
How do you celebrate by looking in the mirror. Must be vain -
A new young rider to the league comes in on a 2 point average until he gets an official one after riding 4/6 home/away meetings, think it's 4 now used to be 6
-
I imagine it's the same for many speedway operations, but the Oxford situation does highlight the fragility of speedway, which in reality, we have probably known for several years, decades even, as, since year dot, speedway tracks have come and gone.
-
Kings Lynn v Ippo. Fricke over 12 points @ 5/4 will do for me. Tom always goes well and Danny King started season well so Heat 1 looks tasty.
-
Have the rules been changed? Remember people on about Berwick using Cairns last year and then others said they couldn't because he was on an assessed average.

Kings Lynn vs Ipswich KOC April 13th 7.30pm
Steve Irving replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I had to laugh listening to that Kings Lynn podcast that Bagpuss linked up where Lyon said they “really pushed for TWO rising stars this year”. Yeah I bet they did!! It wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact the team building average had been reduced and they’d signed the statistically top rider in the league saddled with a near 10 point average, meaning having to go weak at reserve with two inexperienced riders would it? Of course not. They were thinking in the best interests of the sport long term! 🙄 We all know self interest rules the roost and it’s plainly evident again here. They finally had the top end strength they’d craved for years, and also wanted to negate any disadvantage they’d have from that at reserve by trying to force everyone else to go with two out of their depth kids as well. They may have failed with Their requests this time, but we all know the influence certain people have and their threats to close their clubs if certain demands aren’t met have been successful in the past. People wonder why this Sport in this country is in the mess that it is when it’s run by the very people who will ALL try and pull these stunts to gain an advantage for their own clubs. It will continue to happen until someone comes in to set the rules and regulations, and runs the Sport in this Country who doesn’t have ANY association with one particular club. -
No you don't. Go back to upright engines - that would help.

You have to remember if Allitt & Chapman can find a way to cheat they will, these 2 have been bringing the sport into disrepute for a long time and still they get away with it. -

I’m sure someone will point to the fact that this isn’t against the rules, but it should be. There’s always an element of home advantage regardless of track conditions, but it’s a fact track conditions can vary from meeting to meeting. A home team shouldn’t be allowed to spend a whole afternoon fine tuning the perfect set ups on the actual day of a meeting. It may not exactly be “cheating”, but it’s definitely off. -

Think of it as our press and practice day😉. We never had one. -
To me it's either use guests for a while or it's change both reserves, think we all agree it seems to soon for young Jamie to be in the Championship it's just going to ruin his confidance. He was miles off the pace at Redcar.

There’s home advantage, and then there’s this! Should this be allowed on the actual day of a meeting? Home riders having all afternoon to practice and fine tune their setup to suit the track conditions on the day? Seems a bit off to me. -
As he is still the leaseholder (unless anyone knows any different) then he must be involved.Oxford Speedway Ltd is in Courtney’s name though.

Sam hagon at reserve isn't a bad shout. I also agree that Loftus wouldn't be awful. He surprised me last season
-
I would think he has; otherwise, he would have been locked out of the stadium. Sis loaned him money in part to get Oxford up and running, I believe, and they obviously have some problem with him if they have pulled the plug on his ventures.
-
Maybe they've moved slightly, an empty stadium costs them money, a lease on the stadium brings money in.
