Well look on the bright side. If the second meeting is curtailed due to a curfew it makes the bandits chances of winning increase from pretty certain to dead certain.

Because it was a flawed system and replaced by one that WAS much better. However, they ruined that when they took away only getting 2pts for winning by 6 or less at home.

There has to be one day when an injured rider returns?

I think the ‘new’ scoring system is one of the best (only good?) ideas that the authorities have come up with, works really well for me but they need to go back to making home teams win by seven to get their three points. If we are going to have a top division again it needs two or three additions, seven clubs just doesn’t work.

Rowe seems to have done a good job at 2 since he moved there, certainly in the home meetings.

Everyone entitled to an opinion I suppose but I think your comments are very harsh. Natalie was writing programme notes for the Aces when she was still at school! Probably knows more about the sport from the inside than most posters on this site. Dave Goddard (Swedish match commentary) does a sterling job, especially when you consider he is commentating from a studio in Dublin!

The scoring system in British Speedway is the best thing the BSPA have ever come up with. The system keeps meetings alive far longer than the standard system

What people fail to see with the SoN this year was Rossiter's absurd decision to bring in Harris. Regardless of what happened previously, that decision alone deserved criticism and the sack. There were so many better options available.

Definitely more teams, 16 if possible, knock-out cup, regular fixtures on regular nights.

You'll be having us believe the BSPA has a plan --- yet another plan -- to fix the sport's problems; like fast track reserves, fixed race nights all of which have been pretty disastrous.

Agreed with the bonus point... I just can't get my head around the current league point scoring system, never have been able to. Can never remember whether it's 6 or more than 6 to get or lose the extra point and an away draw getting more than a home draw is just ridiculous

do you really believe the likes of berwick, eastbourne, redcar and scunthorpe would want to go NDL.maybe supporters wouldn't,t want to see that on a regular basis.while i know it is what it says, a development league, supporters want to see the top guys racing week in week out or every other week just about as has been the norm this season,
  13. 3 points
.I like to see the bonus point back over two legs why that was dropped I never know lets be honest chapman saved the premiership this season cant see it happening again . one league must clearly be on the agenda .do I hold out of much progress im afraid no hoped to be proved wrong though

George Major says: I went there a few times in '58/9. It was not so much a track as an oval thrashed out in the bracken. it was accessed through an opening between the trees, there were several of these, all looking very much the same. I don't know how my dad managed to find the right one. From memory, there never seemed too much organisation, sometimes none at all. I think there was a notice saying only three riders on the track at one time, so I guess it was a bit on the narrow side. I don't remember any established S A L riders ever being there, so probably all wobbler's, like I was and not many fast laps going on, but not too sure on that, as a long time ago. It has to be remembered, there was not much happening in Speedway at that time, so we were glad to ride on anything resembling a track. Here are a couple of old pics, a family member would have taken with an old box camera or "Brownie 127" . Not very clear, but might give you some idea.

To me the scoring system is bang on. Even if a team is 10 points up after heat 14 there is something to race for in 15. And it's easy to understand!!! All the newbies I took this season got it straight away.

Cricket, rugby off the top of my head. I think it’s particularly apt in speedway where home advantage can be so strong.
  17. 2 points
Yes there are other sports where the 'loser' gets pts.

Effectively both teams get a point for the draw. It's just the away side get another for having not lost by more than 6

If promoted properly I think there could be quite an appetite for test matches... there was quite a decent crowd at BV earlier in the year for the U21 Team Championship and this despite zero promotion in the UK

Promoters who think fans will turn up every week and watch their team lose more often than not are playing a dangerous game. Peterborough fans generally will support a competitive team, I am not convinced that what league they are in (Premiership or Championship) is that important. We do have Supporters who turn up every week regardless of results but success or not does affect our attendance.

I would like:- 1) a home meeting every week. 2) away team to visit once only per season. 3) no double-up riders. 4) less gardening at the gate! 5) a heat structure that ensures heat leaders achieve a higher average. 6) riders to adapt machinery to weather conditions AND RIDE. 7) in the event of r/r a #8 to be named and given at least one ride. 8) yellow/black helmet colour to return. 9) first race to start prompt at advertised start time. 10) a points system that allows a League Table to be understood.

No, I didn't say you did (copied wrong part of message-sorry) I was trying to re-affirm what you had said. I know 100% that Kent riders are paid and others on here either have an agenda or just like a no fact sh*t stir.

Whilst I see the logic in fixed race days I think it has been a massive mistake, as it has deprived teams of traditional home nights and has had a massive effect on availability of guests to cover for injuries

30 heats in 3 hours with a 20 minute break? Best of luck r

Boring? Come on, man! Except for Leszno dominating at the top, the Ekstraliga this year was tremendously exciting. Who would have thought that Gorzow and Torun finish the season in the relegaton zone. All meetings were generally excellent throughout the season, and attracted big crowds, and that even with live tv coverage for the first time of EVERY meeting.
