    • I said that. It was from an interview when he last rode for Poole before this season so 2023? It was on when it was called piratecast rather than 15 heats later podcast thingy.  If you wanna win at Poole tell Mitch to stay at home with his virus and get a guest in. No good in asking Masters for advice either as he struggled the other week for Oxford. Prob cos the track was super bumpy that week but...🤷‍♀️
    • 70's racing was no better, nor worse than today's, for me.. What made it stand out was the crowd sizes thus, the atmosphere got created that made you return.. BV's Yorkshire rivals would bring a good few coaches with them ran by their supporters clubs, whiich had several thousand members, meaning an "electric atmosphere"... Almost 20 teams in the league meant there actually looked line something worth winning, and the vast majority of riders were yours and no one elses, (apart from young UK lads being allowed to double up for development, rather than due to a lack of riders, or tier two clubs wanting to use tier one riders at a reduced rate).. Teams rode on their best nights for attendances, and the admission costs took up a far lower percentage of your disposable income after your bills are paid, than it does today.. And Guests were the exception, rather than the rule... The Superstars were on TV most Saturdays, and also crossed over into mainstream non sporting programming... The top lads rode massive averages, making them "box office" particularly away from home when you may only got to see them once... Their averages often being down to them picking the best gates, bonus points being included, a "gimme" tac sub ride against the weakest second string and reserve, and less "head to heads" than today against the oppositions top two, and, usually, especially at home, just four rides.... It was though, overall, the size of crowds that brought the atmosphere and made it "an event"... The promoters of today though still have thousands of "lapsed fans" who still closely follow the sport, but see no reason to attend UK League Speedway... A huge opportunity should the promoters ever one day decide to get these thousands of fans re-engaged with their version of the sport...
    • Interesting hearing Adam Ellis interviewed at SGP qualifiers Glasgow and saying he wants to come back later this season and ride in UK 👀
    • The cost of the weekend as a whole became very expensive in fact people were just profiteering and I stopped - my old man and I used to go every year from about 2000-2006-7ish after a long gap we went one final time the year Woffy came 2nd can’t recall the year possibly 2016/17?    the atmosphere was always great racing was so so!
    • I thought Scott had a decent match to be fair - a good win and some vital points!
    • With the exception of the meetings they'd previously lost, both teams entered this one unbeaten. Therefore, it was always going to be a tight affair. Good to pick up the win in the end. Watching heat 1, I thought to myself, "Richard Lawson doesn't run too many last places." Just then, he snuck inside Chris Harris to claim the 3rd place. With that in mind, come heat 15, I thought, "Richard Lawson doesn't run... no, I can't finish that sentence". A few seconds later, the clinching 5-1 was confirmed. There was mention on here earlier that Kyle Newman doesn't like sunny Armadale. All I can say is he's got a funny way of showing it. Quite honestly, he must be one of the most enjoyable and stylish visitors to watch. For a number of years, I would've happily welcomed him in a Monarchs team. Granted, it's highly unlikely to ever happen, given he lives down yonder but, hey, I can only but wish. Good to see William Cairns given his full name on the big screen (black mark for the programme though, which failed miserably throughout). Hopefully one day the impressive Mitchell Cluff's name will appear in full. I'm not buying into this Mitch nonsense. Roll on the second leg and another Monarchs victory...
