No, it was Harris' spare tyre. Would explain the difficulty zipping up his kevlars.6 points

Thanks, I'm definitely going to support this initiative. I hope it proves profitable for the Tigers and continues after the lockdown. I don't get to see live speedway since the demise of Weymouth as I can't attend weekdays. My only live speedway in recent years apart from Cardiff was weekend breaks in Eastbourne, but now due to the popularity of staycations, availablity of accommodation is limited & expensive. I might even become a Tigers fan if I can watch them every week4 points

Let’s hope Steve Rees pulls in really decent crowds, gets his investment back and some. Speedway could then leap frog on his success at some point in the future.4 points

If only every away rider turning up at Monmore had some knowledge of 'Karlsson's corridor'.... They've done really well to keep it such a secret during all these years haven't they? Even the many who have guested for Wolves at Monmore over the years obviously haven't been told about it... And every live TV match from Monmore must not have been watched by any Speedway riders who have ridden there after it was broadcast... Whisper it.... "They will go in to the first two turns around mid track and then, cut the apex of the second bend, as close to the kerb as is possible, and pass under you, don't ride the inside line apex on turn one as you will drift wide coming out of turn two and get passed, time, and time, and time again"..... This message will self destruct in five seconds. ..3 points

Its not just the amount of matches for Tero (and i don't believe any professional should be short of laps at this stage of the year) its the timing and availability of replacements. If as suggested there is a strong rider in the UK looking for rides and a rider in the team under performing and not contributing to the team then changes have to be strongly considered. No rider is bigger than any club and a positive message to loyal fans may be what is needed (plus wake up any others who have been off their game)3 points

He/She/They* obviously thought that it was one of their alter egos answering the second time... He/She/They* spent most of the thread agreeing with Himself/Herself/Themself* and probably got a tad "confused".... Which seems to happen to Him/Her/Them* quite a lot... * Delete as applicable due to personal identifying protocol....3 points

One of those riders who were never destined to be a World Champ, but seemed to ride every race as if it was his last... You would never feel short changed watching Martin Dixon.. Best wishes to him.3 points

After all those years retired, to make a comeback at 45 and then break several ribs a few meetings in, you could forgive him for thinking “Nah I don’t need this anymore”. Hopefully that’s not the case, but it wouldn’t surprise me.2 points

If Speedway is second best when it comes to numbers of spectators / profitability etc. then you have to accept that , and be thankful that the Stock Car promoter is happy to share a track with speedway Too many Speedway fans moan about sharing a stadium with Stock Cars, greyhounds, etc. yet it is often the other activities that keep the stadium going as a business2 points

I was there last night. I believe the official limit was 4,000 and It looked to be somewhere around that mark.2 points

After TWO meetings? Nothing like giving a rider a chance after over one year without racing.....2 points

Strange after only a few meetings in the British leagues fans are wanting the heads of riders for a possible one off night of racing .2 points

Kent will be completely knackered when mulford moves into top 5 unless they make a change, eastbourne wont be as badly affected when ablitt moves up , even verge could end up there . Gilkes looks the real deal.2 points

Remember she was one of the inner sanctum. It was their club, their track, their land , they have chosen to sell up and take the money, that’s business and it’s their choice. Sad loss to speedway but predictable .2 points

Birmingham have successfully appealed allowing walk up entries at Perry Barr with Birmingham City Council as long as masks worn and socially distancing is maintained. Only the zones with remaining capacity will be offered so fans wanting their favourite spot are advised to use the on line ticketing at Trybooking.com Birmingham EDWARDS Plumbing Brummies1. Think it will be closer than that, Gilkes is red hot at the moment, Hurry knows his way round Arlington, as do Nicholls and Morley. Think it will hinge on the performances of Heeps, Bacon and Starke. Hope you're right though1 point

I have 2 spare tickets for the Berwick meeting. Cost is £35.70. For the main grandstand. £17 plus 85p handling fees for each ticket. An extra £1 if you want me to pop them in the post. I will take PayPal or bank transfer. This guarantees you get in incase it’s a sell out and no x2’s are available.1 point

Truly amazing isn't it? Even ex Wolves riders who go there seem to not remember about it... I have racked my brains over the years to make sense of it and work out why.... And the only plausible and common sense explanation I have is that Peter Adams and CVS are actually "The Men In Black".... And before each meeting they say hello to the opposition, pull out their "light thingies" and "zap!" every rider from their opponents who instantly forget about 'Karlsson's corridor'... My tip to any riders going to Monmore this year is if you see the Wolves team, Peter and CVS, all wearing sunglasses, then get yours on pretty damn quick.. !1 point
-
Absolutely Mike - myself and my mate watching last night concluded that it may be the case that only Wolves riders are allowed to use the track in that way! Scott Nicholls was one exception of an away rider who we came up with who seemed to know about it! Keep it to yourself though!1 point

Throw Berwick into that mix too. That said with enough non scorers in reserve race one of them has to take the win... Clouting needs a bit of confidence to get himself going but there are big gaps between meetings that may prevent that from happening.1 point

From 1500kms away I’d pay for streaming. It’s a good job I didn’t fly over for the first few meetings of the season as they were cancelled because of rain.1 point

Having some major stock car meetings has definitely helped Kings Lynn Speedway... The stadium upgrade wouldnt have happened with just Speedway income I would have thought.. I believe this year Odsal has the World Final so maybe that will impact the KL finances? It does appear that a great many things help "subsidise" lots of Speedway clubs to compete, as the fan numbers dont always cover the costs, so whether fans like it or not, sometimes you just have to accept it and live with it..1 point

Here's something I remember about that inglorious meeting. We were terrible and I remember eg Sean Courtney wheelying during races when at the back. Brett Saunders had been saying that some of the fans' criticism of the team was unfair. For this meeting he was out injured but was there watching from the stand. When I saw him afterwards he said "That was f***ing pathetic!" So he knew how we felt! You also beat us 61-17 in 1978 the day after we had won at Boston. Rob Hollingworth won heat 4 in the fastest time of the night, and the only other points we gained were in the last heat when Newcastle fielded a reserve. That was just as bad as the one mentioned earlier, only shorter.1 point

Obviously he has had involvement in the past, and he is a speedway fan, but I get the impression he has enough on his plate running the stock cars, without the added stress of running a speedway promotion as well.1 point

I came out of the bar for a smoke and CVS looked like he was getting grief off a few people. Basically the bar seats were full up. Presumably because some goon from the council said every other table must be vacant. Of course the tables remaining filled up quickly then people coming into the bar were left standing and presumably got upset about it. What did they think the promoters could do about it I don't know as their hands are tied. Unfortunately this is the net result when the government dishes out powers to local councils.1 point

Only unexpected to you- you obviously haven`t watched Lublin at home or don`t realise what a competitive team they have.1 point

Think the Seagulls may still be favourites, highly likely to go unbeaten at home and as you say 2 of the most difficult away fixtures gone so likely to pick up some away wins as well.1 point

Assistant Press Manager ....................... DO YOUR STUFF AND DROP THE HINT! Rob made a quick change before with Jedd List but would he do the same with Tero? I have a feeling, & other posters have mentioned this, that this year is about racing & not winning!1 point

Peterborough should be the favourites for the title. Best team in the league by a mile that's being disrespected by the BSF & Bookmakers purely because of age. Look at Jason Crump at Ipswich for example. Jason is still winning races for fun after sitting on the sidelines for a few years which proves how weak this league is. Pedersen, Harris, Andersen & Nicholls are all No.1's in this weak league. MPT is a Third Heat leader and Ostergaard is a second string riding at reserve.1 point

Maybe they could put the NDL matches on first...? It would clearly gauge the enthusiasm for it as if you want to watch it you will be there... It would also mean those who didn't want to watch it could pay to get in after Heat 15 of the NDL match with the break to get everyone in giving time for the track staff to redo the surface... I would also suggest the track wouldn't be allowed to become a dust bowl if the seniors rode the second meeting, and there would be every focus in getting all the heats completed which sometimes has appeared to be a secondary consideration when the 'junior meeting' is second on... The NDL lads would also get a chance to race a circuit with shale still on it which could be a novelty for some.. Simon Wigg always said "you get served your starter before you have the main course in a restaurant" when he suggested having the "juniors" on first... Let those who want "two courses" go and pay the "deal price" and let those happy with "one course" pay the normal admission cost...1 point

A double header saves insurance costs, stadium rental, meeting fees, referee fees, ambulance & first-aid costs, etc, etc. Also, if (as you quote) you are paying £18 to watch the Lions and £16 to watch the Cubs, at the double-header you're saving £8 on admission, plus buying only one programme, paying one load of petrol, car parking, etc, etc. You might feel that £26 for thirty races is too much, and that's your privilege. But it's less that a quid a race..........1 point
-
The Lions promotion have made a big mistake in charging £26 for this “double header” where the second fixture is an NDL match up. I know 6 folk not going because of the cost and there will be more no shows from those who normally attend Lions fixtures.1 point
