  1. Anyone think we should go back to the every point count scoring system

  2. Been the best rider all series and if he takes the title it will be well deserved

  3. The gPs are being spoilt this year by track preparation. Shocking.

  4. Discovery's best move would be to dump Morris.

  5. Terrible from Lambert. Bewley and Woffinden for the SON.

  6. Think you’re needing to calm down. Any team in play offs would have used Flint if eligible, yours included. Yes it is unfair that you can’t use a guest for MPT, but it’s not Edinburgh’s fault, it’s not their rule book. Please don’t bring politics into this. No place in this thread.

  7. Well the racing certainly is, this years series has generally been dreadful.

  8. If they can exclude other riders after the race, why wasn't Zmarzlik excluded? Perhaps because it's in Torun?

  9. Ruined so much of the racing through crap track prep... Obsessed with soaking every track he touches....

  10. Maybe there is less call offs in October but is that because they run meetings in dreadful conditions? Meetings that would ordinarily be called off get pushed through to get them done before the end of the season deadline.

  11. There's a simple way to avoid Play-Off congestion, namely scrap 'em and recognise the team that finishes top of the league table as Champions. When Play-Offs were introduced in the 2nd Tier, there was talk that this would attract tv interest. Well we're still waiting! Add in the weather deteriorates in late Autumn and also there's a scramble by some clubs to strengthen up at the last minute & jettison existing team members like bits of flotsam.

  12. Season should be April - September and if any clubs can do challenges in March or October that pays then good luck to them

  13. You can't change the weather but another classic example of how British speedway shoots itself in the foot and lives in the past. The season should be finished now. The play-off for what they are worth in a 6 team league should have begun the first week in September. Octobers are cold, mostly wet and dark!

  14. How many times over the years have I said…no dirt no points..the worrall effect seems to be still lingering

  15. No bigger example of why every point should count than tonight, World Championship on the line and all these races and points are almost superficial.

  16. Not sure what Kelvin`s on about, its Doyle exclusion all day long.

  17. It simply follows the tradition that averages always change on 1st of the month, but it would be more logical for them to change before the first play-off matches.

  18. I think your on the wrong site ?This is a speedway forum To the best of my knowledge not a dating site for hooking up ! At least you both have a shared interest in the play offs .

  19. I'd totally disagree that a new venue is not needed, it's desperately needed, but would guess its not financially possible atm, a new venue would open up many new revenue streams for the club

  20. The averages changing makes no difference. Tofty has been 4th in the averages all of September. The only difference in the new averages is Jake is now 3rd not Lewi. We had to run RR most of the season with Jordy being 4th in the averages also. It is fair. The rules have been set and abided by all season. What would be unfair is to change them now?

  21. OK for the folks watching at home but for the fans in attendance it was truly shocking.

  22. The BSPL are delighted to announce that for 2022 British Speedway will launch three exciting new championships, the first being the expansion of the British Speedway Individual Championship which will now be rebranded the “British Speedway Grand Prix Championship” and the “British Rising Star Grand Prix Championship” which replaces the current British Youth finals. The British Grand Prix Championship will consist of 16 permanent riders for 2022 and will run over 7 Championship rounds similar to the current Speedway World Grand Prix Championship, the top 12 riders in the series will automatically qualify for the 2023 series. They will be joined by the winner of the British Rising Star Championship who will gain a full-time berth into the showpiece series of British Speedway, plus the top 3 riders from the all-new British Grand Prix Challenge, which will be contested over 2 separate Semi-Finals where the top 8 from each will qualify for a one-off final to secure places for the 2023 British Speedway Grand Prix Championships. The British Grand Prix Championship will be supported by headline Sponsor Medequip under their Manage@Home Online Retail Store brand, who are a leading supplier of support living products to the UK market. Each championship round will see the podium riders walking away with a prize fund of £3k, £2k & £1k respectively with appearance money for the rest of the field, the overall Grand Prix championship top 3 finishers will share a prize fund of £50,000 plus a brand new Van for the champion curtsey of series partner Vanarama, other associate sponsors include long term speedway supporters Adrian Flux, Tru7 Group, Anlas & WD40 The all-NEW British Rising Star Grand Prix Championships will replace the British U21 & U19 championships and will feature riders listed on the current BSPL Rising Star entry lists, the championship will start with 3 Challenge Finals consisting of 12 riders with the top 4 riders from each meeting qualifying for the 12-rider British Rising Star Grand Prix Championships which will act as the support series at all the British Speedway Grand Prix Championship events, giving spectators the opportunity for more action per round and watching some of the rising talents in the country alongside their more well-known stars. The overall top 3 finishes after 7 Championship rounds will share a prize fund of £25,000.00, finishing positions across the championship will dictate their rising star status for the 2023 league season. The 12 finalists becoming 3* riders, riders finishing 5th-8th in the Challenge Finals will take 2* status, and riders finishing 9th-12th or not entering or with limited experience of league racing will take on the 1* rating, there will be no 4* rising star riders anymore. Both Series will be screened As-Live on British Eurosport across the season. Rob Godfrey, Chairman of the BSPL commented “These championships would be exciting for British riders and would give them much needed earning potential, especially for those who are not fortunate enough to race in Poland, or are not quite ready for Poland or who are coming into their twilight years of racing, unfortunately, this is just completely made up because here at the BSPL we are beyond coming up with creative ideas that could give British riders riding in Britain reason for taking up the sport or sticking to it because we need to make domestic racing work for home-based riders first and foremost”

  24. Sayfutdinov has been a brilliant gater in the past. And a brilliant rider. Have you forgot he was up with Tai when Tai won his first world champ medal. Emil had that very serious injury when Medinski fenced him - could have been career ending. Then of course Emil went AWOL from world GPs for 3 years. He come back not the racer as he was.

  25. It wasn't a perfect product for the top two leagues as it showed up all their own lack of perfection... A very reasonable entrance fee delivered value for money, watching riders willing to race on tracks less than 'spot on', who gave every race their all, with many just pleased to have the opportunity provided... And (no disrespect meant), given it was the 3rd Division, if it was a couple of contrived septets on display that you watched, it didn't really matter, as you weren't paying 'top dollar' to watch your Speedway.. And the development of the riders and the entertainment they produced was the key to your enjoyment... It was probably "too good" an overall packaged product, which the top two leagues (which are pretty much one and the same) couldn't compete with... Hence they took the steps they did...

  34. That's as good as any other theory, but pretty futile as anyone with a spreadsheet and time on their hands can work out the average. The team position gives a range for the average without any calculation anyway - Flint's average is between 6.34 and 6.02 according to the official GSAs.

  36. Having just watched the FIM / Discovery+ video, outlining the plans for the real SGP series, including SGP2 (u21) SGP3 (u16) and SGP4 which features Poland Denmark and Sweden but NOT Great Britain, I'm left wondering if an ultimately true word hasn't been inadvertently spoken in jest here. I wonder if the BSPZzz will take an active part in the FIM's plans or if AGAIN the BSPZzz won't interested in playing on the world stage. Anyone who remembers the early years of the Speedway European Championship will remember the BSPA cold-shouldering the FIM. I wonder how long this attitude of "we're British, WE know best, and you (FIM) aren't telling us how to run our sport in our country" will last, and what damage it could do to the sport in this country? I wonder who will prevail? Who will prosper and who will go under? https://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/9277/fim-speedway-world-championships-2022

  38. Only concealed to supporters, I am now aware Mountain has a GSA of 3.00 in the Kings Lynn team. Quite why Rising Star GSA are concealed is beyond me, it seems to be one of the standard BSPL directives, let’s keep supporters in the dark.

  39. Maybe they could get a big hotel chain involved as the GP's will take place around the country... Maybe the Sheraton Hotel chain could be chosen as the exclusive hotel company to be used if they agree to sponsor the events..? The "Sheraton Hotels Individual Trophy" has a nice ring to it... And off the back of this, maybe they could advertise the event as the.... "Sheraton Hotels Individual Trophy Extravaganza"..

  40. It was a perfect product, entertaining and brought on the likes of Brennen, Kemp, Flint, Palin, Thomas etc etc, so did a pretty good job at the development, and can't see the conveyor belt of talent continuing at that level. It was basically abandoned at the outset this year by the powers that be.

  41. And can also result in clubs getting lower crowds as they run more home meetings to cram them all in... Fans then cherry pick which to attend.. Particularly on the dark, damp, colder evenings.. Eg Workington suffered by being successful and having to run so many in one month due to losing some Friday fixtures.. Ironically, not always weather related..! As we often say so much of the issues of the sport is simply down to its own signed off operating model.. Which, with just a modicum of common sense and business acumen, could be resolved overnight..

  43. The 2021 season isn't over though. Even as a Bears fan myself, you're being a bit of a doyle over this. Like mentioned previously, we have benefited from the same rule ourselves. Dan Thompson and Jordan Palin have both guested for us whilst having a bigger average than Jordan. Flint scored well at armadale for Plymouth but he doesn't usually go too well and Kemp seems to have learned the track too so it's not a massive improvement!

  44. Want a tissue? quick question. Was it cheating when you used Dan Thomson who had a 6 point average with Leicester as your rising star as a guest at Newcastle earlier in the season. Or does that not count?

  45. I agree that's why Poland always finished by end of September. Get the playoffs done, if need to have something in October have some sort of 4TT etc.
