You probably only needed to add one of them to this years team with a decent reserve and we would have been competitive at home and kept the crowds, but no as THJ has already said Grant knew what he was doing putting a cheap poor team together banking on getting about 600 through the door to take the cash so he was trying to make mugs out of everyone from the start ive heard people calling him a legend to be an actual legend you have to have done something remotely legendary to deserve the title ……….the man will godown in folklore as something but it doesn’t remotely resemble that title5 points

I do love watching Kolodziej.. Would be great to watch around the NSS.. As long as he doesnt gate.... You dont ride as one of the top riders in Poland for so long without being a genuine top level talent..3 points

Berntzon looked out of his depth in last year's GPs, but looks much improved this year, both in Sweden and tonight. He's clearly learnt from 2021. Similarly even if Adam does struggle this season he will learn from the experience and be back next year but more competitive.3 points

One of the problems with modern speedway (for me, anyway) is that it has become too "clean". I know H&S has played a part, but there's more to it than that. Yes, machinery dictates the track surfaces, but I miss the deep dirt on the tracks, with he-men struggling to control bucking broncos. I miss getting covered - or trying to avoid getting covered - in shale. I miss bags of sawdust being dumped on the bends. We never knew what a poxy "blue groove" was. That was all part of the show for me, like riders doing the parade without helmets, rakers, being pushed off on the track, tractor rides, bike racks etc... I loved the fact that it was a lot simpler and more basic back then.3 points

The lovely Christina would have put Leon back in the rerun we would have got a 5-1 and came away with a draw at the least3 points

Aaron Summers cannot guest for Jordan Palin - it doesn't fit. If Summers guests for Jake, then R/R would have been used for Jordan, and only Wright, Kennedy and Coles would be able to take the rides.3 points

Having just checked in to see if there were any updates, your post was the best thing I've read in months and months, thanks for taking the time to copy & paste it. Having seen that horrific looking crash last night via the much appreciated hard work and kindness of @racers and royals I lay awake for a good while last night, running that one over in my mind, could have ended oh so badly. I'm sure Dan will be feeling very second-hand today but, going off that statement by his club, he's got off very lightly, here's hoping he's back in the saddle very soon, such a talent to watch when he's on song, good luck Dan..3 points

Without Birmingham Wheels, put simply, I would not have a career. I did my first ever commentaries on the stock cars there and spent just about every Saturday evening of my 20s there.3 points

No that’s not it. He’s miles off. Three years ago I for one thought he could break through but it’s just not happened for some reason.2 points

Speedway at Birmingham Wheels was unsuccessful during the three seasons of its operations there. There were many reasons for this, most of them being out of the control of Birmingham Speedway. The place was in its complete infancy, getting there was difficult and not very safe with no entrance via the main Bordesley Green Road, only via a dark and dismal lengthy back street (Landor Street) and approached through an unlit railway tunnel. The spectator facilities there were non-existant and what little spectator comforts were minimal. Sharing the track with banger cars was a disaster. This is possible at some existing stadia I know, but at the Wheels Park, the banger cars used it daily so preparation of the track for speedway meetings was virtually impossible. Even so, despite the problems, the track was a very good shape and before the cars wrecked it, produced some very good racing, and for all it's primitiveness, spectator viewing was very good. The speedway venture ended when at the instigation of the new Wheels Park Manager, an application to extend planning permission to beyond those first three seasons, was arbitrarily withdrawn, so Tony Mole who had just purchased the speedway rights, wasn't able to continue even though he was prepared to do so. Later attempts to get back into the Wheels Park using a different, unused part of the site to constructed a new exclusive for speedway track, were blocked by the same Wheels Park Manager. Could speedway have re-established itself there? I think it could have. We could have had our own track and used it for training as well as public meetings, and now that there is the access to the site from the main road, we could have capitalised on the fact that it is now on several bus routes, and that Adderley Park Rail Station is close by. The Wheels Park is still located in one of the less glamourous parts of the City it is true, so it might have been a long slow haul to get the club back on it's feet, but I always thought the place had possibilities. Now it seems that the City Council are looking for ways of recovering some of the massive debts it has run up in its efforts to promote the Commonwealth Games, and are trying to reclaim and re-sell the land on which the Wheels Park is situated. All the hard work which has gone into building a popular and well used operation from very small beginnings, will be wasted if they succeed, and I wish the group who are challenging this truly outrageous plan, every possible success in their opposition, and will be happy to help in any way if I can.2 points

Like everything else, team nicknames have become "old hat". I loved Dons, Aces, Hammers, Lions, Tigers, and Bees. Same as football (and cricket), there is a need for "rebranding". NO. THERE. ISN'T! I'm all for progress - in certain spheres - but you don't have to mess with the things that made the sport what it is, and what we all love...2 points

I just caught up with the meeting, I enjoyed it, Bomber was amazing and Leon Flint done a lot more than I expected. Young Knudsen has a great riding style and I am sure he will be a star in the future. shame to see Nathan Ablett struggling, I think he will come good but there will always be pressure from fans to make changes. Hope Poole will give him more time, they are a very good side and can absorb carrying the odd rider.2 points

He killed speedway in Newcastle. if i was stuck in a field with only his van for food, id rather starve to death then give him any money.2 points

If you are not busy on 7th July at 7pm, you should watch and ask these questions! As you seem to have some good ones. They are always up for fans of other clubs joining in!2 points

Bewley has come a long way in a short time, personally I thought he would struggle big time in SGP but he has been great and will get to a Final at least once this season. Him and Robert Lambert are really going places which can only be good news for Team GB.2 points

Yet another poor start by the Bears away from home, and against a strong Glasgow team that’s asking for trouble. Bears aren’t a bad team , second strings are a bit weak but the main issue is inconsistency, not many meetings where all the riders have contributed.2 points

That's a bit harsh really, if it was a pure buisness decision then they wouldn't want speedway at the venue. It costs money with staff etc and they would be happy just running cars that they make money out of without the aggravation of running speedway. They are very supportive and the rent is realistic and a lot lower than most clubs, they are happy for us to run the sport at the stadium and thats a big positive..2 points

Back to where we started on the raised viewing area on the home straight and no one will be allowed at the fence round the track there will/should be a secondary fence at the top of the banking... no one will be allowed at the fence around the track viewing will be at least a minimum of 3 meters above the track and approximately 5 meters back on the home straight and 10 metres back on the back straight and hopefully that's clear enough for Mr Nil Imagination @Steve Shovlar2 points

Needs a "Dave Norris" 2nd phase of his career ... Something there definitely to compete at a higher level, but just seems to be drifting along at present.. And if you dont move forward, you effectively go backwards as others move past you...1 point

News on the Wroclaw site this morning We have some good news. Daniel Bewley underwent a comprehensive examinations at the University Clinical Hospital in Wroclaw and apart from general collisions, he was only diagnosed with an injury of the interanklular left tibiscus. It would appear that Dan's physical fitness and well-functioning stadium security and personal protective equipment prevented him from serious injury. Dan hang in there!!!1 point

Totally agree with that ! But to come into the season 1.5pts under the limit we were asking for trouble, we've got what we deserve .Kasper surprisingly has been disappointing, but Roynon was never going to up his average only scored well at reserve for Newcastle last season ,that been down to the fact it's a gaters track and struggled when moved up into the team.To drop Anders Rowe last season who at least had potential and stick with a rider this season who has offered nothing and is going backwards literally seems strange.1 point

Why not put Drew at 3 and King at 4? Maintains strength in the last few heats?1 point

I thought that would be the case, imagine with all the increases in costs, electricity, insurance etc and probably charging under the going rate previously, it probably costs double to open the gates now than in 2019/20.1 point

We went with the option of three 7+ heat leaders, and 2 rookie reserves. Edwards has come on lots, also helping other teams getting away wins. Jenkins progress has not been as rapid. He is still very poor away from home. Roynon was a strange choice. Had been away since 2018. Until his return at Newcastle last year. Scores have been very poor at home, and woeful away. Andersen has also not lived up to the expectations the club thought he would acheieve.Edinburgh have now gone above us. We are currently 6th. Away meetings at Plymouth and Poole, and any points gained there will be a bonus. Cannot afford to slip up in our 3 remaining home meetings against Berwick, Glasgow and Scunthorpe.1 point

Riders’ wages will also need to be realistic. The Newcastle article in this weeks speedway star is very informative, as was the previous weeks about Brummies. At Div 2 level, speedway is not a full-time job but can be a well paid hobby, as it was in 60s/70s for many riders who managed a comfortable lifestyle.1 point

In layman's terms (and yes thats how you spell it) it means you didnt do Charles Dickens either... Get your self on Google Neil learn and enjoy... read about the ever so humble Mr Heap... On another topic Neil have you been invited in this Sunday with the rest if them... scrap man will be there and you never know your tape might even turn up and if you want them covers back you got you will need to be quick cos if JER doesn't flog them they will end up in the bin.... and the next promotion will need covers for sure... cos Grant is setting the club on a sound footing for the next owners... like... I spent many a happy times at Birmingham wheels in my teenage years, not cause of speedway, I was there most Saturdays and Sundays either racing BMX or doing the ramps, we caught the train with our bikes, loved the place and it worked getting kids off the streets, sadly these days the area around the place is less than desirable and that’s being kind, a place like wheels is needed in every town, being brought up with a focus like bikes (motor or otherwise) is a good distraction against the pitfalls of those teenage years1 point

Allen's average goes down as of 1 July, and Sedgmen's increases (converted from his new Championship Green Sheet). Very good move to sort it now.1 point
