You can't compare Oxford and Brum like for like Rob Oxford are blessed with a stadium owner who allows unrestricted access to the track, you also have much better equipment and have no access issues during a meeting Brum, are only allowed on the track on race days, are working with equipment (despite investment over past few months) that is mainly past its best and are restricted with the amount of access to equipment during a meeting due to landlord restrictions in place. Sorry if last nights track wasn't up to scratch, I know it wouldn't be through lack of effort from John the curator at PB. The Directors, Promoters and hard working track staff are really doing their best for Birmingham Speedway, it's been a very tough baptism of fire on and off the track, but the majority shareholders Nigel and Tracey are really good people.5 points

You're welcome. repeating gossip from the uninformed is not a good Idea. I was there last night, track as smooth as a babys botty the only issue was a groove going into turn 3 which filled with soft material it only bothered the oxford riders when the Summer went down and the brummies got a 5-1. there was plenty of dirt on it , John Priest was watering from the early hrs of wed morning ,was watering prior to the start and during the meeting dust did get worse towards the latter part of the meeting. many riders have commented that the track gets better each week, additional shale and clay binder has been added each week. our track man can only prepare the track on race days, he is there till after midnight. you can only put so much water on a bone hard track or it becomes a skating rink. Its a shame that posters can only moan and be negative and cant find anything good to say about yet another exciting meeting with plenty of passing much by the Oxford riders , Troy Batchelor had no probs.4 points

Does anyone know how long Trackrat has been let out of the Mental Hospital ???,what a horrid contributor to a public forum , If you don’t have anything sensible to say then don’t comment . Speedway at the moment needs every paying customer they can in these hard times and your constant comments about the state of speedway and certain teams is not right . You are like Thrush your annoying3 points

Luke Harrison in for Little Vinnie..... Another sparkling 15-year-old prospect. This will be interesting, to see who's looking strongest between Luke, Max Perry, Ace P and Jody Scott, as these lads could be Britain's future in a few years' time......3 points

100% 40 DEGREE baking for 2 days! They had 2 opitions (a) call it off and incur the wrath of keyboard warriors (b) run it with a baked surface and incur the wrath of keyboard warrios as they would have said lovely weather conditions perfect. Sometimes you CANT win - in fact in this troll fest social media age can you ever win! Nigel and the Directors and Laurence and his Staff have delivered an excellent surface almost all season, light years better than last. They deserve to be cut some slack under the kind of conditions NEVER seen before in the UK. Some places had markedly cooler weather in high 20's - but 40 degrees in central England (it was 51 in my car Tuesday afternoon on the drive) is off the scale.3 points

Sad news that Roger has passed away. Roger gave significant financial support to the Leicester Lion Cubs and was a proper speedway fan. Often seen at away fixtures despite his advancing years. Thanks, on behalf of many young, upcoming riders.3 points

So with long term injuries to Auty and Shanes, plus the fact that Vissing decided to go missing, what else can the club do Martin? Can you name riders, who are prepared to sign up to ride in the championship, who are twiddling their thumbs waiting on a call?2 points

Sheffield running on the Sunday I think ultimately "did for Buxton"... As most of their fan base seemed to be Tigers and Aces fans when I went, (3 or 4 times a season).. Maybe it could have worked for them with Sheffield open the same day but it probably wouldnt have.. Saturdays could have been a possibility I suppose but plenty of 2nd Div meetings took place that day meaning NDL heat leaders already in action... The track certainly wasnt the best but it did bring through a fair few riders in their early development.. They still do the "skid days" there I believe... A bit of track reshaping (quite a bit of space still around the track for widening), and a big screen put up to stop quite a few people paying to watch the Stox and their Speedway for free and it could still be a decent NDL venue... A good way to spend a pleasant Sunday afternoon when the weather wasnt arctic... And when it was, sit in your car and enjoy the racing from there...2 points

It's only because it's Poole, any other team and I doubt he wouldn't even comment.2 points

The programme from the previous meeting -- washed out by a freak thunderstorm at 6pm, before the gates were opened -- contained information the club wanted to publish at an early date, but as Scunthorpe couldn't come back until the end of August it was decided to issue the already-printed programme plus insert for Poole's visit. As a club running (successfully) to a very tight budget, Berwick have to consider every economy to keep their books balanced.2 points

It was noticeable on Saturday just how many times Max looked behind him during his races. On one occasion coming out of bend two he looked to his right where there was no rider so he looked to his left just in time to see the rider come by. The only time he didn't look back was when the other three riders were already in front. This sort of on track habit is a strong indication of a lack of confidence in his own speed or ability to stay ahead of the riders behind him. Hopefully a spell at reserve, a few practice sessions as well as some positive encouragement from team mates and management will help improve his confidence and form back to the levels he is capable of.2 points

Manageable amounts of dust and a good racing surface at Oxford on Wednesday as well. Back-to-back meetings held without any issues.2 points

You should have come to Oxford mate. Cracking NL meeting last night!2 points

In defence of Coles, Glasgow away must be the toughest place for a Championship reserve, as their reserves have 5.00 averages2 points

Hope that the air fence is properly anchored down. Will be coming to watch speedway, not some poor sole hitting the armco or a medic helicopter.1 point

It is a vastly out dated quotation that has caused far more harm than good throughout it use over the years and needs to be put to bed. I am fully aware of who you are, who you are grandfather of and your prowess (or lack of) for manoeuvring a trailer. If you are ignorant enough to be using the quote on the first place you clearly do not understand its harmfulness. Good day.1 point

Don't worry were not racing now till next Wednesday, so won't hear from him till then, though might have to call it off if Birmingham are under strength1 point

There are so many intentional mistakes with this post it is pretty funny, I must admit. You posting negative comments to get a reaction and to anatognise Poole fans makes you a troll. Because of trolling Poole you are actually anatognising Scunthorpe fans now as you have to put down their team for some random reason!1 point

M62,MI8, M180,M181, A1077 then B1430, very easy to get to.1 point

Interesting Skidder seeing as I mentioned Ryan in the Poole team in the winter, and you did the laughing emoji. So if I get the same reaction this winter I'll know it is almost a shoe in lol.1 point

Then they should have taken Arthur Browning's advice to 'man up, and get on with it'.1 point

I would say it would be more of a shock if Leon didn't win this meeting, as you say he is the stand out rider in the line up.1 point

This has to be Flint's to lose imo, although looking forward to seeing how Max Perry and Jody Scott get on as they seem to have been scoring pretty well in the NDL1 point

After the 2 hottest days for a very long time the track surface was baked so hard that water was running straight off . Dust, not sure what else could be expected.1 point

Definitely agree and if the Internet goes down I dread to think what will happen. I have a much better solution to entry they could try paper or email tickets, ha ha, perhaps not its not technical enough for this day and age.1 point

Where is Bomber this weekend? Seems a really strange idea to sign one of the most entertaining rides in the sport in the UK, and then run meetings without him... Given his LT commitments, and individual Speedway ambitions on the european and world stage, is a weekend track the best place for him and the sport in general? Bomber getting replaced by other teams' best riders does nothing for the sports reputation and of course he ends up missing meetings and another pay cheque.. (No wonder he guests so much)...1 point
-
Finally realised he possessed so much talent and that if he applied himself a bit more he could definitely compete on the world stage.. Just a shame it wasnt a few years earlier given how good he actually ended up... Maybe "enjoyed himself" a bit too much for too long down at Eastie? A true character of the sport...1 point

Clegg was trying and that's all we can ask for. He wasn't great but we can't expect him to ride around like a heat leader. Reserves don't score many . All he needs to do is chip in with a few points every now n then.1 point
-
I really can't wrap my head around all this hate fir Max... he's a brilliant trier and scored well for us from second string and sometimes heatleader positions...? I know we had a really bad team, but still... he's A LOT better than Connor Coles certainly...1 point

Such a character and funny too. Need more of his like now, but he did come from a different simpler era ( like me) . We ( Eastbourne) voted him the all time ultimate Eagle a few years ago, bear in mind that included Nicki P, Martin Dugard, Gordon Kennet, Mark Loram, Kelly Moran etc etc , he was the all time highest points scorer for Eastie but shows the high regard he was held as a rider and perhaps more so a character.1 point

It would be nice to know.. and you have a valid answer above.. quite a few make a full time living out of Speedway however I am hearing that more and more riders now are taking second jobs in the UK... so the honest answer from me is I dont know but I know a few who have very supportive families who pump in thousands to keep the dream alive... they call themselves full time Speedway riders but if it wasn't for the families they could never earn enough to eat let alone run two bikes... Regards THJ1 point

I remember some excellent meetings when Poole were in the top flight. In general I don't think it is as good as it used to be but I have always praised Wolverhampton. It is a good racetrack.1 point

Buxtons major problem (apart from Pipe) was that it refused to accept it was any different to other clubs and refused to approach things in a different way. If they had been forever open that the track isnt the greatest, we don't pay much but we are loyal to our riders it would have gone a huge way. Instead they were generally belligerent and chopped riders in and out the sides constantly. A weekend track with training and second half options could have churned out riders year after year but instead "we know best" closed a venue that was potentially ahead of its time.1 point
