If the super heat had been in Poland it would had been the best thing ever..8 points

I think it’s a complete waste of time and money but I can appreciate that some like it. Early doors it was a bit processional, but half way through it livened up considerably and the racing second half was very good. Ipswich did well to come back but I thought a draw was a fair result.7 points

The crowd will not be affected regardless of the Plymouth lineup. That was proved when Brum came down with a patched up lineup. Big crowd. They will line up, if it is on, as: 1 Rider Replacement 8.402 Ben Morley 4.293 Ben Trigger 8.004 Anders Rowe 6.765 Dillon Ruml 7.156 Lee Complin 3.267 Connor Coles 2.00 If that is the official lineup, Pirates really need to be up for it. No sitting back. Plymouth could certainly hold us close. Rider Replacement certainly knows his way around Poole. Been here enough times. Morley is no slouch. Wasn’t Trigger from Only Fools and Horses in the GPs a few seasons ago? Rowe and Ruml solid and Complin always entertains with his around the boards efforts. Coles and Ablitt battling for the odd point. Too close to call.6 points

Just waiting for the weather to take a turn before they resume. They can’t be running whilst it’s relatively warm and dry that would be far to sensible for a summer sport.6 points

I think the point is, hindsight is all very well but when you make a call 24 hours in advance your doing so on a prediction, not on a fact.6 points

Ah fair does. It was a small minority of people just disappointing none the less. As for positive though, it was genuinely the best meeting I've seen all season. Got taken by a neutral so they appreciated a lot more than I did as my views were tampered by the result! Must say it was excellent at Belle Vue. The overall presentation was great, there was no hanging about and waiting, the racing was top notch and was just impressive to see the level of standard of a self sufficient track can be. It's the height of what every club should aim for even if its most likely unobtainable for most.6 points

The one trait if a bully is that they don't like to be stood up to and outed. You are a Bully Im quite happy for you to block me as you certainly can't enter in to any form of rational debate. I'm quite happy to stand by my record as an overall constructive and fair minded poster prior to standing up to the bullying of me and others by you and your sycophants. I'll not bother replying to any response as by blocking me you won't see it actually will you!6 points

Ipswich drew at Peterborough and got 3 points, Sheffield achieved the same result and got 1 point because of some stupid rule, speedway matches are over a maximum of 15 heats not 166 points

And that is the problem regarding some fans who will be out of the habit of attending. The new fans will be wondering what is going on, thinking if it is a part-time sport, and then maybe tune in to Eurosport and see Glasgow and Edinburgh Riders riding for different teams. And then I wonder why nobody I know takes it seriously.5 points

IMO, When 2 teams deserve a draw, like last night, then a draw it should be Only top heavy teams, their fans and casuals will enjoy superheats. I would’ve felt cheated if I was a Panthers fan last night5 points

It’s sad, every year you think the fixture list must be better next season, but alas same sh#t -different season.4 points

It’s simple in my mind, attendances are poor now because the racing generally is too often gate and go. You can have whatever format you like, lovely eye catching race suits, extra match points for a team arriving early. Having the most bonus points or winning despite having the most guests or the Eurosport speciality having the most boring and inept commentator (Ermobollox) but supporters want proper racing and close matches and let’s be fair it’s not too often they see it these days. The GP,s were very popular not too long ago when around 40,000 did the annual trek to Cardiff despite rip off ticket and hotel prices, but this years debacle in front of just over 20,000 has showed that even GP,s have a duty to entertain or they will die and the powers at be just don’t appear to want or desire to take on board that the racing is key as Wroclaw showed the other Weekend. A proper Grand Prix on a proper race track.4 points

But why is a draw any different to any other result? A drawn match is normally exciting, or at least tense, in its own right. If you need an extra race because the scores are level, why not an extra race when the teams are only a couple of points apart, to see if one of them can earn a draw or a victory - or an extra race when a team wins by 6 or 8, to give one team a chance to win by more or lose by less to gain an extra League point? It's a 15 heat format for a League match, which produces a result for a League table.4 points

Before you continue moaning everyone as I’ve said previously would you be happy to spend your money, maybe family money coming down here from Dorset tomorrow for a washout if the answer is no you wouldn’t be happy then stop moaning if the answer is yes than fair play you must have more money than most people like it or not it really was the right decision.4 points

I like change if i think it is for the better. They changed the points awarded to teams when gaining a draw or losing by 6 or less,or winning away gaining more points if you win by more than 6.I think the points system is probably one of the best things they have introduced for years, then they spoil it this year with the draw superheat imo.3 points

I remember attending Brandon every Saturday night (stock cars excepted), to see the speedway racing I’d go most Tuesdays to Blackbird Road, to see the speedway I enjoyed Bees winning, I enjoyed visiting teams winning at Leicester, but really it didn’t matter, as I’d enjoy the action from the 13 heat match and the second half, which I always stayed for League, challenge, Midland Cup matches, plus World and Midland Championship qualifiers, Tests and other individual meetings This attitude doesn’t seem to prevail any longer, judging by the comments on BSF - all this b0llocks about play-offs, rider changes, with journeymen “team members” - fans identified with “their riders” season after season, now it’s hardly match after match Can’t remember many changes for the better since “the good old days”3 points

You’ve never seen scenes like it because your trophy cabinet has sat empty for ages3 points

Belle Vue produces consistently the best racing week in week out on possibly the best Speedway race track in the world yet can't get anywhere near filling the place. Not surprising really when they stage their event on a night when most people can't get to it.3 points

Personally I preferred the old aggregate bonus point system...far easier and simpler to understand!3 points
-
It was just a coincidence that the Stupid Heat was a very good race. It's still totally unnecessary.3 points
-
The best race of the night was a superheat. The riders celebrated like they won the league. The fans of whichever team wins the superheat will cheer like they are league champions. The fans of the loosing team will hate it. all in all. You got an extra race and what a race it was. im all for the superheat3 points

Good effort from Summers there by the way. Paid 7 after failing to score in his first ride was good going in the main body of the team. Vital contribution.3 points

I agree too this but still think it should be scrapped! This bulls*it statement that it makes it interesting for tv viewers is absolute crap. Majority of people watching are speedway fans not some average Joe channel hopping and all of sudden that into it they don’t wanna see a drawn meeting. It’s so unnecessary and actually embarrassing.3 points

An overheated portacabin due to a hot summer, in Scunthorpe !!!!! Whoever thought that gem up could be the new Barry Cryer2 points

Plymouth made the right call, get over it and move on,unfortunately your team don't have to contend with the autumnal weather because your season is finished.2 points

I honestly think that even if speedway had been the best run sport in the world, it would still have been in decline. All sorts of land and environmental pressures, its demographic, the rise of home entertainment, the rise of the Great Football God and competition from other sports...2 points

You're the one missing the bleeding obvious that the British weather forecast frequently changes from day-to-day, which is the point that everyone has been making and you're blissfully ignoring2 points
-
Thunderstorms are the hardest type of weather to predict because they are so changeable. This morning, the forecast could have been totally different. It wasn't, but that's missing the point. Had the forecast changed this morning, Plymouth would have been left with massive egg on their face.. yet again. Why call off a meeting the day before - it doesn't make sense. No wonder Plymouth were the only team in the Championship not to finish their home fixtures by the play-off deadline despite the driest summer for nearly 30 years.2 points
-
While I don't think the meeting could have gone ahead tonight, why didn't Plymouth wait until this morning to make a decision? The forecast can change very quickly from day-to-day, especially when it's for storms. Early call-offs are sensible, but this one was being ridiculous, and just makes it look like Plymouth wanted the second leg at home. Plymouth have become a figure of fun this season: there's the daft situation with Eddie Kennett, setting fire to their own track, and now calling off meeting a whole day in advance. It's hard to take Plymouth Speedway very seriously.2 points

It's the same every year, it's a semi pro sport really, run by less than semi pro people.2 points

The rules are quite clear. That doesn't make them fair, sensible or popular.2 points

Well lets face it the witches need all the help they can get, Because over the last 20 odd years you havnt helped yourself many times have you . Technically you still haven't beaten the Panthers over the scheduled 15 heats of a meeting for how long now is it , Your best bet now is thursday as Panthers have a very limited choice of guests for Hans Ulrich or MPT but if you dont win that well that will be hilarious !!2 points
-
Well done to the Peterborough promotion for giving something back to the supporters. Nice of them to engineer the result so to give that extra heat. And what a superheat it was... pity no one told Ipswich riders to not win it Up the Witches2 points

Seems he got away with it- from Sportowefakty We already know that Jakub Jamróg came out without fractures and injuries from this fall, but together with the team he decided to withdraw from the competition.2 points

Tarmac the track is the only answer.!! These weather situations are dragging the sport to oblivion.2 points

I know the British like to talk about the weather but this must be the longest thread ever about the topic!2 points

Yes - it was a decent meeting. Witches earned a draw - and then they had the Stupid Heat ... the most pointless rule since the Tactical Joker.2 points

The future of Swindon Stadium has been an on-going unacceptable public relations disaster for many years now. I feel sorry for any "Budgies" fans who have been promised this and that without any substance and continual cover ups.2 points

We know who they are. Old “it was better in my day” brigade who preferred upright Japs, personal leathers with race jackets who are covered from head to toe in old speedway badges whilst filling in their programme on a tried and trusted programme board they’ve been using since 1972. No wonder the sport’s dying on its @rse.2 points

Ironically the Poole fans have just answered the thread question as to why they are the most hated haha2 points

Starke is usually a trump card at reserve and normally scores very well there. He’s carrying a shoulder injury and is clearly struggling. Hume is a massive miss also.2 points

There was a crap rider from Brough, who thought the track was looking quite rough. He entered the first bend at speed And thought he was going to lead, But hit breeze blocks and went off in a huff!2 points

It may have had more "dead rubbers" as you correctly say, but it also did have teams visiting for maybe their only visit of the season, which meant some interest from the fans... With an out and out superstar too in some cases, which could bring some of the best crowds of the season.. Now we have play offs with potentially teams making their fourth visit of the season, with riders on show visiting your track who may have guested several times for other teams (as well as your own team)... The pull of the play offs will hopefully always deliver good crowds but it is the matches leading up to them which sadly dont always hold much sway...2 points
