  1. I'll start off by saying I'm a big Tai fan and all he "has done". And that's the trouble, as each year passes without a World Championship, a credible challenge or even a GP win sooner or later you have to back up what you say you're going to do with some actions. For me, and it'll never happen in a million years, he needs to be dropped from the series if he doesn't finish top 6, for his own good. You can tell by his demeanour in the pits that he's far too comfortable with himself and seems to have an air of entitlement that he should be there, I don't think he does the GP qualifiers does he? Have a mediocre season (by his standards) get a wildcard, rinse and repeat. Maybe a spell on the outside looking in will be the kick up the @rse he needs?

  3. Well I am 55 today and was "under average" I would have said... Racing wasnt quite always "out of the top drawer" but still very good.. Bewley's pass of King, Howarth's ride round the boards, and Cookie diving across turn 4 in the Final were truly spectacular moments.. Speaking with several in the crowd quite a few mentioned "having to pay twice" was something they resented, but obviously went anyway, so maybe there were also a few who decided not to "pay again" and stayed away? I didnt attend the first one so it didnt impact me but I must admit I may have baulked at paying again.. Scotty seemed to be having words with Godfrey after his last ride, the one he stopped in, and didnt seem too pleased, was there another tyre issue? All in all, another cracking Speedway meeting at the NSS, great to see Dan triumph as clearly head and shoulders above everyone else in the 20 heats of qualifying, and also great to see young Tom get second as it shows real progression for the lad, and definitely one for the future.. And a word for a favourite of mine (Cookie), brilliant to see him back to something like his best...

  5. We were sat almost on the line in the 'Grandstand' and Kyle Howarth definitely got it - ref made right decision. Fair play to Poole for coming back into the Match when they looked to be on the receiving end of maybe 8 or 10 points loss at one stage. Lions - poor start to the match, vast improvement after 4 races - Richie Worrall great, Kyle Howarth trying his heart out ( probably cost him a point or two ), Nick Morris again very fast but stuffed Howarth up good and proper in Heat 13, Thompson Twins were fine, Connor Mountain a night to forget and Max Clegg OK but never quite there. Pirates - Great start to the match, Danny King / Steve Worrall & Richard Lawson always in with a shout, Cook brothers better than last time, Drew Kemp more than did his job and Nathan Ablitt a bit out of his depth despite somehow leading Race 2 until he unfortunately 'binned' it under pressure from JT Lions won but somehow feels like a loss given only a narrow margin to take to Poole - cannot see Danny King having another poor meeting on Wed as he did when Lions defeated Pirates earlier in the season and I worry about our reserves there this time around. Also - gotta say it was a terrific ride by Kyle Howarth to win Heat 13 on the line against a very quick Danny King! Two good teams on view last night

  6. OK., I'll start.... You're a miserable old git....( )....... which makes me one as well, because, unless you have very deep pockets and don't care about losing money as if it's going out of fashion, you must be mad to even think about running a speedway team in the current environment. Speedway has been on a downward spiral for years and yet, every winter, the "powers that be" bury there heads in the sand and ignore it, so the sport will continue to spiral downwards and, eventually, there will be a league of three or four (if they are lucky). Then it will be "well, the fans didn't turn up" and it will be all placed at our feet and they will walk away happily saying "it weren't our fault. We did everything we could..." when the truth is they've done very little to help.

  7. The FIM regulations state: The current year’s final overall SGP classification after removing any rider having finished in the top 6, but having withdrawn from the SGP for the following year before the following year’s line-up has been published shall determine the rider’s qualifications for next year’s SGP championship as follows: • The top 6 riders of the final overall 2022 SGP classification (including any qualified nominated substitute rider) will be directly qualified for the following year’s SGP series. • The top 3 riders from the 2022 FIM SGP World championship qualification meetings (art. 71a) will be directly qualified for the following year’s SGP series. Should a rider who has qualified from these qualification meetings also be in the top 6 of the final overall SGP classification of that year, and then the next available rider from the FIM SGP World championship qualification meetings will be selected. • The winner of the 2022 FIME Speedway European championship will be directly qualified for the following years SGP series. • Should a rider who has qualified from the FIME Speedway European championship also be in the top 6 of the final overall SGP classification of that year, or the top 3 riders from the FIM SGP World championship qualification meetings (art. 71a) then an extra additional rider will be nominated by the SGP commission. • 5 additional riders will be nominated by the SGP commission. • 1 wild card rider per event decided in accordance with art. 3.5. • Should a rider withdraw after the publication of the official rider Line- up for the following year’s SGP season, then the first rider available on the official SGP nominated substitute list shall replace him. • 7 riders will be nominated by the SGP commission for the official SGP nominated substitute list.

  8. Confirmation once again that there is no track in the UK that comes close to the NSS. The sheer speed of it with so many racing lines make it the most thrilling track to watch speedway

  9. Glasgow haven't raced at home since August 5th and have injuries, I think we all know how this will go. The lopsided fixture list has made a bit of a mockery of British speedway this year and needs sorting badly (amongst many other things)for 2023.

  10. One day something you say will actually be true, but that isn't today!! Lol. Have been to Plymouth before so I do know what it is like to watch racing live there. But not this season no. The stream does give you all sorts of angles though

  11. Will really make me smile if Adam wins it again, especially after all the bitching after the postponed meeting

  12. I think Glasgow will have a little too much for Plymouth over the two legs.

  13. Although some of the earlier comments may have caused offence to some I think most people are just frustrated that another track is about to close. John Campbell was clear on Friday. He stated publicly that Edinburgh speedway has no options that will allow the Monarchs to compete in 2023 and further stated Monarchs will be out of the sport for a period of time. Negative or positive comments thank you all for caring about the Monarchs. Just to balance the situation as well thank you to all the councilors who did give us their support. You did your best!

  14. I will be called the usual “miserable old git” etc etc but it does beg the question how any of the now dormant clubs eg Rye House, Lakeside, Coventry , Sittingbourne, Newcastle ( tempted to include Swindon as their fence must be past it’s sell by date) can ever hope to be resurrected faced with such large start up costs…..that’s before they have even got on paying spectator in their stadiums. You might think that there must be someone somewhere with a collection of old air fences, starting gates, and other paraphernalia which could aid new start up clubs ? Can you imagine going to Dragons Den as a prospective speedway club business start up ?? lol.

  15. When the mangerment show so little sign of passion , caring or effort . .or even anger its comes as no shock .. You would think with what has gone on of late with the club and its life on the line you think they would be at there most vocal and putting maximum Pressure on Tomlinson and Gi and Sbc to stick to there word but instead nothing at all .. Like a lot of the Fans they have accepted its going to close with zero fight .. all that is left is for them to say we will find a new site and get a Swindon select side to take on Oxford next year to keep everyone happy .

  18. If we make it Skidder says Poole leg is on Weds 28th though. I think they are saving any Fridays for rain offs? So might have Friday 23rd saved for KOC in case that is rained off on Weds (although forecast is okay atm).

  20. Imagine how many Mauger would have won under this formula with his outstanding consitency? And he had to do all the qualifiers too.

  21. I do get the feeling he is trying to convince himself as much as everyone else by how he is talking... Where a few years ago he lined up at the tapes against the opposition and you could easily see him winning, or at worst running a second, you now look at him lining up and think "he won't win this and could easily be last"... Hopefully wrong, but a big ask to even get top 3 I would suggest given how far behind those riders he now is..

  24. Why would Poole fans be shouting at a rider who had taken a high speed crash to clear the track under any circumstances? What's wrong with them?

  25. Lions gated on a 5-1 but Morris stuffed Howarth on the 2nd bend to let both pirates through up the inside, Morris then binned it on bend 4. In the rerun King gated and Howarth only passed him right on the line, tbh I thought King had just held on.

  27. Zmarzlik really does pose a threat to Mauger and Rickardsson's record without a strong and consistent challenger. In fairness to him, he can only beat what's in front of him

  28. There was no contact - Josh said that himself. He was mightily pumped up for the heat and I think it was just the adrenaline. He felt he wasn't left enough room, I think it was OK and he just got a bit too much grip. The exclusion of Lasse in heat 11 was completely wrong though. Edinburgh have been pretty good. Sam and Josh both riding as well as you'd expect, great contributions from Lasse and Kye as well.

  29. Bottom line is tyre is not fit for purpose .IMO. Riders throw away money on everything else maybe they should be complaining about sub standard tyres. It’s hard to believe it’s just at Peterborough that they have problems,I seem to recall at Berwick last season they also had “ tyre issues”.

  30. With Leicester haven chosen to meet Edinburgh, Glasgow have announced that their leg of the Play-offs semi-final, against Poole or Plymouth, will be held at Ashfield on Sunday 25 September 2022 at 6pm. I wonder if any Poole fans will comment?

  32. Great result for the Belle Vue fans, delighted for young Tom Brennan finishing second, track as usual giving great racing. Also good to see Craig Cook having some good rides again. Kelvin Tatum for a presenter has got to stop saying Um & Ah every few words, I thought all TV presenters were taught not to do it. What do you reckon the average age of the crowd was. Life Insurance Companies should sponsor Speedway.

  35. Definitely disagree on that one, as someone else mentioned, way better on the big polish tracks compared to the smaller ones, however not just a gater in my opinion. Remember us disagreeing on Kolodziej before the SEC as well when you compared him to KK and Lindback which I didn't agree, you might be underestimating him. I mean if winning the SEC isn't enough to prove himself then what is...

  37. It is sad. Tatum used to be the co-commentator but now he's been thrust into the role of lead commentator and he's just not very good at that. I was never a big fan before, but at least Nigel Pearson used to be able to get the best out of him. They had some chemistry and Pearson was a strong broadcaster who was able to steer the ship.

  42. The reliance on tuners shouldn't even be a thing in speedway but it’s the riders who drive it that way, Doyle is riding as hard as ever but clearly his bikes are not going forward the way he wants, woffinden is a fantastic tactical aware rider but imo talks it now but doesn't walk it anymore, you never lose talent and he has bags of it but you do lose belief in yourself and I think that’s where he is now ,in the vojens GP he visibly did a first corner where he waited for the other 3 to get their positions and he was last as a result, that’s not the body language of someone who really wants it, not undermining the other 3 but he should of walked his last qualifying race last night but only got 2nd cause of an engine failure, I also don’t understand woffinden and madsen talking who good they are going to be next year, it’s like they don’t care about this years championship, woffinden especially as he might not even qualify but he knows he will get a wild card pick

  44. Janusz has produced some fantastic racing in this year's SEC, where he leads Leon Madsen. I think he's well worth another shot.

  45. IMO they should not give w/cards two years on the spin to anyone except in very special circumstances ,otherwise it under values being in the top six .I know they say it is to keep the standard at it's heighest possible for the GP's but there are some very good riders not in the series .

  46. Next year Bewley, Lambert and Holder will have improved more. If Freddie can get rid of long covid and Madsen get completely fit and Woffy do what he says he is going to do then it could be a tough season for Zmarzlik. No Russians until complete withdrawal from Ukraine, which isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Remember the list of riders for next year will, traditionally, be announced within 24 hour of the last GP of the year.

  48. Stuart Bamforth was astute Businessman with an eye for a bargain and longer term profit. This was the case when he purchased Belle Vue speedway and the Hyde Road stadium in 1982 relatively cheaply. He knew the land would be valuable but in fairness he also knew that the speedway could move to the greyhound Stadium down the road. That said he put his money where his mouth was in buying the stadium when it looked on a downward spiral, ran one of the best promotions at the time and was a solid Chairman of the BSPA.
