  1. TJ is what he is. He can be very frustrating, from race to race, let alone meeting to meeting, as we witnessed when he rode for Newcastle. Genuinely a nice bloke, but that doesn't alter the fact he isn't a 9 point rider in the CL, 7-7.5 at best. Berwick, at the minute, have too many weak links in their 1-7 and will struggle to reach the Top 6 with it.

  2. Hope bandits get their team sorted out before the league campaign, got a lot of time for the fans and promotion. I can't imagine etheridge having as bad a home meeting again, looked bit tentative after his injury. Can't help thinking be stronger dropping TJ and a 2 pointer for couple 5 pointers but that was just based on last night's performance may get it right.

  3. We’re paying for fillet, the oap’s want to pay for brisket, and last night, I was served pedigree chum.

  4. It was far more than a little unhappy - I honestly believe it was close to a full blown brawl Credit to Brennan who remained calm and unmoved despite the tantrum from Wright. Any kind of reaction and I think Wright would've lost it and waded in Perhaps not a mountain but certainly a little bigger than a mole hill

  5. The £20 admission across the board and all age groups is a scandal, I`ve said for along time that at Championship level £1 per race is more than adequate so the likes of me should be paying £15 with OAP`s etc paying £10. To ask anymore to pay more is just clouded business thinking and those promotions who do charge £20 across the board without concession seemed to be thinking lets screw what little customers we have left for as much as we can, lets face it most Championship crowds season on season are dwindling and moves like this will see one or two clubs at this level struggle, sadly I believe Berwick will be one. It is to be hoped there will be a reconsideration of this, time will tell. Many supporters I spoke to last night before during and after the meeting seemed to be of the same thinking, this season many will pick and choose the meetings and if last night was anything to go by if Berwick start losing at home they wont bother at all so to that end its played one lost one. I personally didn't renew my season ticket for the first time in the last five seasons, it seems many followed suit. The good news for Berwick is that they wont have to face a team as good as Glasgow every week, but a home defeat to Edinburgh and then Redcar will have some voting with their feet and what is sure is that nothing empties a stadium quicker than a few home defeats. As for the meeting, very impressed by Glasgow, after many years of trying and much money being thrown at it, I think this Glasgow has what it takes to become Championship Champions. As for Berwick a lack of heat winners and heat advantages at home just wont do and one look at the scoring charts will tell you where the weak links are, that will need addressing, either the riders need to change or the club will need to change the riders.

  8. Tom was called up for an FIME meeting in the Czech Republic for GB on the Saturday, it was rained off so he thought it was cancelled. They moved it to today at 9:30am, so he had to go after all and if he didn’t would get an international ban from the FIM. It certainly wasn’t picking and choosing, FIM meeting take priority over everything.

  9. Personally I think this is a bit of a stupid statement, If the promotion can only break even by lumping £5 on the admission prices then maybe they should cut there cloth accordingly too and maybe only run NDL if they can't afford it. In times when some people have to decide between heating there home or eating meals and your going on like £5 is nothing that £5 could be vitally important to some people and if the choice was to keep a roof over my head or lose speedway then I think I know what 99% of people would choose.

  12. Aces clear underdogs again like at Ipswich... Dan will be goosed given what he has done/still doing today and will be lucky to get five.. Lidsey hasn't ridden the track for donkeys, and Charlie and Tom are on each others backs... Brady may get 10 off six... An easy Panthers win in front of a 3000 plus crowd... Getting good at this Shovlar meeting review stuff...

  15. They should wait for new averages then replace Nathan Stoneman, I don’t think he is good enough for the second tier or ever will be.

  16. That's not true. Wright was riding all sorts of lines in heat 10 with Brennan behind him and was doing it deliberately. It almost caused Brennan to lose 3rd to Hume as he had to go wide at one point to avoid Wright on bends 1/2. It was pretty poor and unnecessary behaviour as there was nothing that Brennan did wrong in heat 3. Wright wouldn't have reacted that way towards a seasoned or harder character either as he would have received something back.

  24. No change there then. How anyone can watch that every week baffles me, it really does. I (rather stupidly) went up to Berwick for the Poole match last year, expecting it to be a good meeting. I think, from memory, there was one genuine pass all night. The track "improvements" were supposed to improve the racing. They clearly haven't.

  29. The racing was awful. The tapes situation was embarrassing too. Went up uneven all night virtually, and the crowd will be well down come May, after we get beat against Edinburgh and Redcar. No concession’s going to spend £20 to watch a crap team on a crap track.

  30. He’s rode enough meetings now to be better than 2 points at home in the championship! He’s just an average rider at best and dunno why teams keep signing him

  32. Berwick as rubbish on track as they look on paper.

  33. Not at all! Todays track was grippy probably cause of all the rain we've had recently and of course many youngsters through inexperience and a lack of riding struggle to get round a grippy track! Bowtell and Complin had no problems which shows that it was more a case of abilities than the track being unrideable. I'm sure that had todays meeting been in the one of the top 2 Leagues then the racing would have decent caused the better standard of rider would of coped better with the track.

  37. It’s Rew who is the key rider here. The difference between challenging or not, he’s that important. He clearly has something about him but we’ll need to see more from him as the season progresses. We have one of if not THE weakest reserve pairings in the league, we can’t afford a bottom two to become a bottom three if we have aspirations of lifting the pot at the end of the season. Im confident he’ll prove to be a useful rider in the top 5 but it may take a bit of time.

  39. Dany Gappmaier or Busk Jacobsen if either wanted to ride in this country plus Dan Thompson instead of Jorgensen and Stoneman and get Knudsen to reserve before his average goes up too far.Wont happen as too early to make changes but would strengthen side at Shielfield at least.Suppose you have to give current side time though.Main problem still goes back to Jorgensen's 9.5 average knackering the whole team building.

  42. Yeah agree with that the rise in price for pensioners consessions made my decision not to buy a season ticket very easy plus the cost increased of traveling with fuel etc and even more so after watching last nights total and complete borefest on BSN...

  43. Well after so looking forward to tonight was totally underwhelmed, embarrassed by Berwick tonight no excuses were second best all night, only two heat advantages and one was against one rider, Glasgow well deserved winners good luck in the next round. On another note a lot of old faces nowhere to be seen, where we stand a least 4 people not there, and 1 OAP came over and said he knew of at least 16 not there, they are infuriated by the £7 increase for them, will be found out after the Edinburgh match, would say there were just as many Glasgow supporters as Berwick. So the next streamed meeting will sit in the house and save myself over £60,rant over.

  44. Not a lot In the standard cut and thrust of lap 1 Brennan possibly blocked Wights run and effectively ended his challenge for the lead Have seem plenty worse - certainly no need for that reaction From memory on previous visits when with Somerset Wright seemed to have a similar lack of understanding when partnered with Starke....

  47. We are entitled to a minimum of £4, but anything above that is at the direction of the promoters. There was a rain off against Poole last season, for which I have misplaced my voucher, so I don’t know how they distinguish between them (and I don’t remember when that was called off).

  48. My worst rain-off experience was in 1990 travelling from Ipswich to Reading on a Monday night. I had persuaded my Dad to join me in riding to Reading on our motorcycles, which was an effort considering he only rode in the dry and local journeys only. Having left work and rushed home, checked the meeting was on and the weather forecast seemed fine, I called for Dad and we set off in the sunshine. When we were about 90 miles into the journey and on the M25 it started light rain but darker clouds were ahead. The rain stopped and we pulled off the M25 for a chat - Dad said he was going to turn back if it rained again but we set off again towards Reading when it did start raining again. It was only light so I carried on all the way to Smallmead where it was chucking it down and the meeting was called off (about 7pm). I then had the 2.5 hour journey back in absolute heavy rain, waterproofs leaked at the crotch after a time and my legs, feet, arms and face/neck were soaked and so cold I struggled to move by the time I got home, with a filthy bike to boot! I passed Dad on the way back, on the A12, as he was doing about 40mph due to reduced visibility - I was maxing out at 60mph, visor up. We never went to another meeting together on our bikes although I did on my own.
