  1. Whilst it seems both logical and inevitable that Hans would be released , It should never be forgotten just what Hans did for Peterborough Speedway over all the seasons he rode in the Panthers colours becoming a true legend of the club It would be fitting if he was granted a farewell meeting at the showground for him and the fans to say a proper goodbye to a great servant to the club .

  2. Just when you are about give up on speedway, along comes a meeting like this. Fantastic stuff from 4 evenly matched teams all giving it their very best. All four teams were winners and a triumph for the sport of speedway.

  3. During the TV pre amble Kelvin and Ricko has an exchange and stated that all the riders were capable and the differences in lap times were minimal They stated be a World Champion the difference was likely to be that mental strength and belief that you would win In the last block of heats that's what it came down too and is why the Poles won Kubera pulled out a win that hadn't seemed likely. Zmarzlik and Magic both produces passes to pick up places that really shouldn't have been possible GB however didn't deliver even the one barnstormer required despite having four goes at it and therefore fell just short They didn't bottle it, they didn't fail - both those viewpoints are frankly a little ridiculous They simply weren't quite good enough

  4. Definitely not time for change. Ellis and Brennan were picked because they ride regularly in Poland, others don't. Pretty straightforward really. Our record in the SWC/SoN has been excellent since 2018.

  9. First time visitor yesterday and what a true ly magnificent set up. Built a great track and the. Just keep adding to the structure season in season. Perfect way to start a project. Racing was good. View was excellent. Moved to bend 2 for the semis and final. Huge mistake. God it was windy and cold there lol. what’s gone wrong with Harry mcgurk. That was so sad to see. That’s not the rider than left the aces. Looked very low on confidence like his heart was in it. Ashton boughen though. What a talent. Honestly. Not been this excited about a youngster since dan Bewley. Kid is going to the very top. And I’ll stick my neck on the line and say that the next SWC in 4 years he will be in the team I’ll end by saying keep up the good work Workington, you have a positive future as long as the sport I. General sorts the mess out

  10. Thats is what is wrong, it should be the riders that are most likely to score the most points. Charles wright would have been more likely than Brennen to score points. I think it cost us.

  11. I'm not sure how this stuff is funded so maybe it costs the riders money to ride in the European Pairs or whatever but I don't think it's unreasonable to give priority to those who've made themselves available for GB throughout the year. Ellis was the logical 4th rider anyway given his Polish form and SEC experience.

  12. Lisa you do realise that even having bad manners means you still have manners. Good or bad you still have them, and here ends today’s lesson on manners.

  13. Look folks, it hasn't worked. I realise that you have all deliberately posted about today's 'Glasgow v Poole' match in the 'Glasgow 2023' thread in the hope that Poole fans wouldn't cotton on and start posting here as well. Well 'she' obviously checks out every thread and has offered her tuppence worth Might as well go back to the Glasgow v Poole thread

  15. I've just finished reading my visiting brother's Oxford programme of the recent visit of Poole and have to say it's a class publication. Plenty of interest for present fans and those that enjoy reading some nostalgia and Scott's Nicholl's refeshingly honest account of the well taken win up at Berwick. Nice to see that the "warm toned" Dave Hammond still does the announcing. I always thought that he was/is the best in the business and a terribly nice person as well. Richard Palmer (I used to work with his uncle at the Zoology of Department) is still there and great to see that Leon Foster-Hill is still involved...used to enjoy my banter with him as he had a dry sense of humour. Matt Davis involved on the track curatorial side of things another who I remember (I presented him with my "Skol" Cheetahs jacket!) and of course that super enthusiast Rob Peasley who is the programme editor. I wrote some articles for him for the "Chronicle" some years back. Even my uncle one time Oxford photographer Keith Lawson got a credit! Well done to everyone involved!

  16. Lawson does what’s best for Lawson just like most speedway riders. One thing you cannot deny he gives his best shot too earn as much money as he can.

  17. Poole are a very good team you just never seem to be able to shrug them off and tonight was another example of that. Of course they will lose away but over two legs I cannot see anyone beating them.

  18. Had Havelock reserve switched Newman for Roynon in ht14 and given Roynon either one of ht6 or ht9 for Newman to help get rid of his third ride, it would have been easier for Poole to pick up third place in ht14. Why he didn't is inexplicable. Having been in total command at ht10 with the TS dispensed and being 10 points ahead, the dreaded regrade handed the ascendency back to Poole who won four of the last five heats. I'm still lost why we do it when it isn't advantageous to us or why it has to be fixed to ht10. If we must have it, it should be when it benefits us.

  19. See Poole fans well the usual suspects magnanimous in defeat once again. To be honest we let them come back into that tonight, we should have been out of sight long before a last heat decider but fair play to Poole on hanging in there. Poor from our captain tonight which probably kept it closer than it should have been but another 3 points banked and I get the feeling this won’t be our 1-7 come playoff time. Heat 15 was a classic between Basso and Lawson, no idea what whining Worrall was whingeing about after the race but it was hilarious watching his dummy fly out the pram.

  24. Had a great time. Last night the racing was vastly improved from previous rounds. The atmosphere was fantastic and our lads gave it a real good go. Yes it was a shame as we nearly had it but I think second place still deserves respect. The Polish fans that we sat around were very friendly and were very interested in us. For my first time in Poland I had a great weekend and certainly will be back. The only complaint for me was the queues at the bar and the painfully slow beer tap!

  25. Steve Worrall 6.00 ...Adam Ellis 9.00 (above Masters and Douglas) Those are the real averages, where it matters ... in Poland. I had assumed the OP was satire, but I fear not.

  26. Hearing a bit better news on Thomas Jorgensen in that he wont require surgery on his back/neck injury, it will mean he has to be fitted with a back brace but should heal naturally. Unfortunately his season for Berwick and Kings Lynn is over though has he will need to where his brace for around 3 months.

  27. British riders premier league GSA Dan Bewley 7.49 Danny King 7.08 Chris Harris 6.83 Steve Worrall 6.75 Charles Wright 6.68 Tom Brennan 6.07 Adam Ellis 6.00 Richie Worrall 5.77 , that makes 4 riders with higher averages than 2 that were picked .I thought picking your strongest team is the best thing to do obviously I'm wrong .

  29. Thanks Phil for the positive comments. Strong south-westerly wind yesterday. The back straight and turn 3 offers shelter to wind based around a westerly direction. We could see that the trees on starting gate side were really getting blown around. Agree with what you say about Ashton , wev'e seen him 3 or 4 times at Worky this season and he looks a great prospect for someone so young. Re your comment around Harry, unfortunately that is the only Harry the Worky fans have seen hence the reason he has dropped nearly 5 points off his average. Looking forward to the meetings against the Colts, looking at James Pearson, Jack Smith and Sam Hagon whom has already impressed at Worky then a feast of entertainnent could be in store.

  30. How has it been a 'right off'?? The Monarchs are into the top six now and Kye has finally starting to get wins again and if Borke can become a decent middle order rider then the play-offs are easily within reach. It's a long season.

  42. Imo today showed why Mr bickley should not be considered for a comets team place, got an average of 9 points in the league, but struggled to score 5 today, did not look that interested, pulling up twice when at the back, but may have had bike issues, but it was still running

  43. Superb effort by Team GB . We all expected Poland to win but to run them so close and then lose in the last heat is so disappointing. All of the team contributed, no more than Ellis for his 2pts when I was cursing that Bewley wasn't used as a reserve ride. It was a superb meeting and great event for speedway. Close but no cigar.

  44. Great entertainment with close scores and close racing tonight. I'm not a fan, but what a brilliant ride from Janowski under huge pressure in the last race. He's not the man I would have picked to take the pressure last race, but he delivered spectacularly. SWC is just so much better than the SoN...Please tell me that we don't have to wait 3 years to see this again.

  46. Had a rough head count imo 300-350, but when I was at Edinburgh the other week the head count was 175, and about 40 comets fans, as for next year who knows what is happening in speedway at all levels

  47. ….. And then we move on to the final. I’ve followed the sport for almost 50 years and cannot recall a better meeting than tonight. It had the lot (apart from a GB win, gutted for the lads), the four best teams in the world giving it everything, with more passes than a village idiot on Mastermind. Even when there was no passing, the racing was superb. If you didn’t enjoy that, Speedway isn’t for you.

  50. Scott has announced on social media that his Mum died yesterday morning. For those that wanted to believe the worst of Scott it’s clear they don’t know the man behind the rider. Just because he’s a rider it doesn’t mean that they don’t have the same issues we all do/have had in our private lives. Be kind you never know what the person you are talking or writing about are going through just as they don’t know what you are going through. Condolences to Scott and family at this difficult time.
