Statement from Connor Bailey in response to Vatcher. I feel he's been really hard done to here...! A very mature and classy statement. Shouldn't be treating our young future stars like this. Having recently become U21 British Champion and riding as well as I ever have, it’s very disappointing that I haven’t been offered a reserve spot at the upcoming Cardiff SGP. Furthermore, I feel I need to directly address the statement made by British Youth boss Neil Vatcher on the official British Speedway website earlier today, where it quoted Mr Vatcher as saying the following: “British Under-21 Champion Connor Bailey was also amongst the riders considered; however, after he turned down opportunities to represent Great Britain in the recent FIM Speedway of Nations 2, and to ride in the British Final, the decision was taken to select Anders and Jason. For clarity, I was asked to be the reserve at SoN 2 behind Dan Gilkes and Anders Rowe, both of whom I had beaten to the U21 title a couple of weeks earlier. Aside from the logistical and commercial challenges of getting to Latvia, riding at reserve would not have guaranteed that I saw much action. Regarding my invite to participate in the British Final, this invite was received at 9PM the night before the event, when I was away celebrating my 21st Birthday. Up until this point no one had mentioned to me that I might be considered for a spot in main lineup of the final. Had I had more notice of this, I would have jumped at the chance! It saddens me greatly that these two instances appear to have brought into question my commitment to speedway and have impacted my chances of taking one of the reserve spots at the Cardiff SGP in what would have been an incredible experience. Meanwhile, I would like to wish Anders and Jason the best of luck at the event.

The team spirit between the riders who for this one night, represented the Bees, was excellent. I hope your win gives your supporters inspiration in the hope that the Planning Inspector find in your favour next Month. I'm looking forward to the return leg of this meeting at your place!!!!!!!

I can’t believe this meeting was postponed because of two missing riders. If laguta was going to be missing I could understand missing your top two would be very difficult to cover. But kings lynn haven’t actually said who apart from the obvious absentees would be missing. a little transparency would stop a lot of bad feeling. Many Ipswich fans attended two weeks ago. I wonder how many will not attend the restaging in protest.

A perfect scenario for Div 2 Promoters.. Getting to use Div HL's and not having to have two developing UK riders at six and seven.. The long term failure that they cannot see though is the obviously ageing demographic of the Div 1 HL's that they use.. When they go, who replaces them? Hopefully next season we have one "Elite League" which has the top riders in it, and a Champ/NDL alamgam with each team having one Div 1 HL each and two RS's of a similar standard to the Current Div 3 HL's and SS's.. To sell any sport, you need demarcation between the top league and the rest, which then provides relevance to the top league and kudos in winning.. Plus it provides a clear development pathway for lower league clubs to aspire to and grow their clubs, which then organically grows the sport.. When you can pick and choose what league to ride in, and can "relegate yourself", whenever you feel like it, then getting punters to take either league seriously will be a real challenge..

And the worst thing about it all is that it's such a waste of a warm, summer August Thursday with the kids off school and holiday makers galore in the vicinity.

In their defence I suppose it's all too easy being critical and writing rubbish on here without knowing anything of the difficulties involved in signing riders and putting teams together but they do seem to have made a right balls-up of it all this year. Maybe too much effort gone into Oxford? Just a wee suggestion .

Workington take priority as he is signed for them. It was discussed at length with the Speedway office as to what he could or couldn't do if he accepted the guest bookings for Redcar yesterday was a clash of fixtures so Workington got first call . At this moment in time there are no more clashes and if Redcar are happy to keep using him till Jake is fit he will accept the rides.

All very laudible ideals, but first and foremost clubs need to be financially stable at whatever level best meets their budget and whichever raceday suits their catchment area. No good having an 'elite' league of say 5 or 6 clubs who then can't sustain that level for more than a season due to finances and/or lots of defeats.

I recently had my roof done by a company where the owner had taken a back seat and he employed another chap to do the work. I was left with a big hole in my roof with rain peeing in night after night. I will continue to use this company and fully support them as it wouldn’t be fair to do otherwise. The dodgy roofer he employed has since left. The roof was to be fixed on Thursday but he’s rang to say that day is off. I’m not bothered as it’s not his fault and he wants as much money as he can get for his retirement which is fair enough. The house is a really mess with all the rain but the don’t blame anyone, I’m just happy to have a roofer.

I personally think they got caught out with TJ average they perhaps thought he would be on his last Championship figure.But they are not going to admit that.

They say they build Teams too a budget to protect the future of Speedway at Berwick.It’s a fine line and it has too be entertaining to keep the crowd levels.There have been a couple of decent matches this season IMO,but results have been poor.The fixture list has been a shambles.Even now we have we Glasgow turning up without Harris a big attraction especially at Berwick when it been known all season he was in World Longtrack.with all these blank Saturdays throughout the season.It turning fans off the sport. Fans can accept guests for injuries,but they turn up every week for all sorts of reason nowadays.

This must rank as one of the most audacious stunts ever since Belle Vue signed R. Lambert for the p. offs last year. We can only assume Lambert is a good deal cheaper per meeting than Lagoota, as the Lynn owner repeatedly has claimed the KL side is "over budget" The entire structure of British Speedway is akin to a game of musical chairs with riders shuffling around from team to team. Every year this forum brings me a good few laughs. You think it cannot get any worse but it does.

If anything hwpoendls to Dan, can the Aces bring Robert in for the place offs? Bringing him in last year to replace an injured rider, even though he was unattached, seemed to cause meltdown in some quarters... I presume him replacing another rider in another team as a guest in the play offs must be "different", so perfectly acceptable to everyone..?

Would be interesting to know how long Lynn have known Laguta wasn't returning since there last match at Ipswich 7 days ago and then how long it's taken to get Lambert to say yes

Does it? Didn't see Rowe or Edwards beating a path to be in the British champs either or stand there as track reserves. When was Bailey asked? If it was on the initial list due to be ing U21 champ then he should have taken his place, if it was after other first choices had turned it down then he has every right to tell them to poke it. Same goes for SGP2, if he felt he wasn't ready or financially not set he has every right not to take up the option, just goes to show the nonsense that Vatcher pours into British speedway every year.

As it stands, without an immediate and successful negotiation/agreement against our October 31 2023 (I believe is the date) demise then this will be the last ever away meeting of Peterborough Panthers. And as was reported on Aug 7: " It’s now likely the club will cease racing altogether" - think about that Buster reportedly has not given up though and I know that some people are working hard behind the scenes so we're on life support but still fighting, and where there is life there's hope for 2024 and beyond.

And so he should be I believe, shame they have not also stated what the reason for the failure was. One has to assume it was some sort of drugs because if it was alcohol I believe the ban and fine would have been less. He is a silly man instead of refusing the test he should have stated that he was going to fail it before taking it and still took it, I believe he will still have been banned but for a lesser time, and if it was due to prescribed drugs again I believe the ban would have been shorter. Once again this is a lesson to ALL riders and officials (do they test race officials?) that a refusal is an automatic guilty verdict that results in a longer ban everytime.

Turns out, we didn't need Emil after all. When Bomber rides like he did last night, you just stand back and applaud him. He was on fire. As a tribute to the Bees and all the fans that were there it was most fitting. A huge thank you to Birmingham for putting on this meeting, the riders that turned out to represent our historic club and for all 14 competitors for a splendid show.

There wouldn't have been 6 of the 7 teams riding if there wasn't as many rain offs or pit gate problems etc. Cannot blame the schedulers for the problem.

The next chllenge is for it to be like that more often than not then.

Championship teams out vote the Prem teams by number. No way will they 'go up' if Mon/thurs are still fixed race nights. And why should they weaken their product to suit the whims of a few so-called senior clubs?

Hook got better as night went on at ashfield on Friday night, heat 14 looked quicker than claus until he nearly binned it on last lap. Looked like eased himself back first couple rides and final ride was best I'd seen him.

I wonder how much authority he truly has , and whether he is just there to ensure the tv meetings run smoothly.

Astounds me that some people will try to justify someone not taking a drugs/alcohol test or thinking that testing isn’t necessary. Not only does it protect the integrity of the sport it also protects the competitors. Not taking a test should carry the same penalty as a positive test, if not a more severe one.
