  1. I would like for the Barrister of the Save Coventry Speedway to actually ask the question as to who "Brandon Estates" actually are ie who are the directors could well give us some idea who has been behind the proposal to develop Brandon rather than just hide behind a company name, especially one that's registered abroad.

  2. Ken McKinlay. Six years a Tiger, then NINE World Finals, reserve at three more. Without doubt the greatest Scot of all time. In terms of service to the Tigers, Steve Lawson.

  4. Phil morris to be applauded, skewered the opposition ,the decaying sport statement got right under his skin. CVS was quality as well rebutting the argument that wolves have folded because it wasn’t viable. first day goes to the good guys

  5. I was at Foxhall today & can confirm that there is damage to the pit gate, caused by a champagne cork hitting it last Thursday. Parts due to arrive 8am Friday morning

  6. That was a tough watch but it’s still early days and of course B.E are going to dig at anything at all possible to get an upper hand even though I found it bizarre that the cost of reinstating the stadium was mentioned when what’s coming is how it got into that state?. The witness for the council in all fairness kept his cool as he was spoken too quite poorly at times and was asked questions they knew he wasn’t going to have answers for. B.E will soon have plenty of questions to answer themselves from the campaign group as B.E are still hell bent on separating speedway and stox. It was never going to be plain sailing and no matter the outcome the campaign group could not have done more and I’m pretty confident that when given their time to speak they will go hell for leather to paint Brandon Estates for what they really are.

  7. Jack Smith in for Ace on Saturday, did well at Redcar and as a Glasgow asset, this is his chance to shine, not expecting him to get 10 points but if he can get something in heat 2 and at least challenge opposition number 7, that will be a start. I remember when he joined Glasgow a few years back, I think he relied on his Dad's reputation, but he has grown up somewhat since then and he can gate, so good luck to the lad

  8. That's the bottom line. I think guests, R/R and doubling help don't help though. My wife's grandad no longer goes to Belle Vue regularly for a number of reasons but if you ask him why the first reason he will come out with is the lack of a team identity. I know on the odd occasions I go that if Lynn don't have a full team my enthusiasm drops. Overstated maybe but definitely a factor. I would suggest that apart from replacing number ones there should be a pool of riders to choose guests from who don't ride in the same division abs aren't going to ride for you one week and against you the next.it needs reigning in.

  9. It wasn’t speedy, they posted that tweet on the Friday, showing the pictures of the track on the afternoon of race day a few hours before the meeting. Still don’t know how they got that meeting on! And unless my memory is playing tricks, the track rode superbly that evening.

  10. I can’t see may Bears fans bothering with the stream in the circumstances. To keep up with the spirit of it, I’ll see if I can get a guest to watch it for me instead.

  11. Sports England guy was useless didn't know how many riders were in a team, sounded like he had never been to speedway despite living in manchester.

  12. Cant remember a limit....you also had unlimited ts if 6 points behind lol..and the crowds were packed..The sport in terms of Mickey Mouse is the same as it ever was when the sport was massive..People over state the importance.. Its pretty simple with speedway..As the teams have weaken so have the crowds. .

  13. Guests have been a thing since I have been following the sport. The only difference is, back then it was very rare that a rider would be missing unless they were genuinely injured. Mike Coles, Phil Morris, Brent Werner, Neville Tatum, Colin White and Jan Pedersen were all regular guests for Newport in 1999 when Anders Henriksson and then Frank Smart were out injured. It has always been the case. What gets on my nerves is when riders are apparently injured, then ride in Sweden on a Tuesday and then are unfit to ride on a Wednesday for their British club before riding in Poland on the Sunday. There are only two solutions to stop all this. Either pay what Poland do OR ban any rider who races in Poland. Sadly, either option looks about as likely as Manchester United winning in Munich this evening!

  14. Maybe their QC is labouring the point as a filibuster tactic to prevent Matt Ford giving evidence at a crucial time, whilst the developers objectively have the upper hand.

  17. The rules weren't intended to allow it to happen hence the original attempt to sign him was rejected. It was only when Lemon threatened legal action because the rules were so poorly written that it was finally allowed. No one was allowed to due it in the years prior and no one's allowed to do it now. That's why it's such a sore point with many.

  19. The second part is true but practice starts with out helmets is banned with a £100 fine & has been in the rules before so is not a new one. You can have a clutch malfunction( happened not long ago) or can flip a bike during a practice start & land on your head.

  21. Yes, I listened to it again this morning and he did indeed say at least £1m a year is invested into British Speedway by Eurosport. Whether that means the clubs get to see the readies or not i don't know. This makes me think quite differently about the value of Eurosport to our sport, it is quite clearly still very valuable. It may not be the top notch coverage that the speedway purist may want (but then what ever is?) but it is still a very valuable income stream to the sport. Makes you wonder what Sky Sports & BT Sport were paying and where on earth they spaffed all the money?

  25. Sorry Steve got to say you av gone beyond negativity this time. Get behind the boyz otherwise find another team to support. The odds may be in Scorpions favour but can you imagine Middlo or Havvy giving a team talk like yours?! No matter the team you support or the odds on winning you are called a supporter so please do that simple thing. Poole will do their upmost to overcome Scunny and I'm behind them all the way to win on Friday & I'm expecting nothing else. If anyone can we can C'MON THE BOYZZZZZ PIRATES TO WIN

  26. There was a time when you had to name a number 8 when using R/R. Many instances recently where teams usingR/R have suffered further injuries in a meeting and been forced to track only one rider in a race.

  29. I haven't been following this in depth but of course I wish Coventry all the best. Used to love my visits there to watch the Robins! I hear that Clarke Osborne's name has come up during the meeting and he's said that houses should be built as speedway is a dying sport or something along those lines. What a joke of a comment from a man who has formed Swindon Motor Sports to build a new all purpose stadium for the Robins to ride at!!!!! It's almost like he doesn't actually intend to do this!! This guy clearly gets a kick out of killing speedway clubs. Makes me want to see Coventry back on track more than ever now!!

  32. Not ambiguous? What's long term? 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years? And what is proof? What if you get two conflicting doctors opinions? After all we know that all the existence of a sick note proves, is that someone was able to find a tame doctor to issue one?

  33. Bit of a quandary for Oxford! Will Jenkins and Atkins ride in the NDLRC and take a ban? Or will the powers off speedway do something to alleviate it?

  37. Maybe a wet track would suit Ipswich, it certainly didn't suit Belle Vue in the cup at Wolves.

  43. Redcar have no riders in the NDLRC. Bailey is in Poland and Harrison is only a guest for Redcar anyway. It’s just a case of if Jenkins and Atkins are willing to take a one match NDL ban to represent Oxford in the Championship

  44. There's a bit of a grey area regarding the fixture clash with the NDLRC at Worky........ While CabDirect Championship matches usually take precedence over NDL-level events, the NDLRC is (I presume) a BSP Ltd "purchased Event" and the rule-book says: 010.5 FACILITIES A team may utilise a facility to cover the absence of a rider(s) who is: - e) engaged elsewhere at a BSP LTD shared or purchased event. Which I think -- only think -- means the nominated riders from Redcar and Oxford will be at Northside...........
