  1. Doyle giving up Sweden to ride in the UK. Whether fans up and down the country like him or not, I'm sure everybody respects the loyalty Doyley has shown to our league throughout the years.

  2. What a great service Chris did for the benefit of British Speedway Not only did all get to see Emil grace the league and be the biggest attraction for many a year but persevering to get that deal across the line also paved the way for the others Had the Emil deal floundered the others ate unlikely to have happened

  3. What a weird little thing to have a whinge about! Did you even read it? He says “We are looking to announce the team immediately. It is an exciting team and one we will enjoy working with and we were settled on it quite quickly by the end of the season and I am sure the fans will be delighted with it”. So now the information will be passed on to the webmaster (who probably has a full time job) to write up seven rider articles in readiness for the reveal on the official website in the coming days! What’s the issue here?

  5. Would chop my right arm off for weekly speedway, as would many I would think, given how every year we moan about a lack of fixtures. An attractive season ticket and they are onto a great thing here. Hats off to them, full of admiration. What if it works well and every club does it over the next few years.

  6. "We have had our first meeting and it was brilliant. It was great to hear from every tracks' delegates that the sport is superbly led, and that each meeting they attend is truly an amazing event that simply couldn't be improved, and provides incredible value for money"... "It was noted though that all the delegates clearly felt that more guests were needed to add more credibility to the league, so that is something we can definitely look at improving"..

  7. Don’t know what all the fuss about a 3pm start time. Yeah working full time and life gets in the way some weeks but if you’re really a supporter you’ll be there when you can. As for it clashing with the Reds and amateur rugby, I know what I’d prefer to go and watch. Instead of all the negativity flying around in the world atm can we just have some positive thinking for a change. Get behind the promotion, behind our 7 riders whoever’s they may be, and support the comets.

  8. It doesn’t matter how you try to spin it Jason has been one of the most loyal GP riders to UK speedway. There is no team in the league who would not want him in their team. Both Jason and Emil have bought plenty of entertainment to the fans at Ipswich . More so than than any other riders in recent years ( although Jason if you are reading this you have yet to do full lap of the stockcar track on 1 wheel)!

  10. Just going by the stats Buttons. Over all meetings last season, Doyle 10.53 at Foxhall, Emil 9.76

  11. They will want at least 2 'big' headlines for the papers i would have thought! Great to see Doyle back at Foxhall he is surely one of the most exciting about - if he misses the gate watching him reel them in is highlight of the meeting for me.

  15. If Etheridge is signed again you might as well just write off another season the bloke is useless home and away. I have faith Dickson is switched on enough to not make that mistake.

  16. Any Panthers fans who go to Kings Lynn should be ashamed of themselves. They are the sort of people who would sell their mothers for £1. Buster is a vulture.

  17. Can't see Dan lowering himself to those kind of levels tbh. Leaving BV for KL is the equivalent of leaving Kate Moss for Vanessa Feltz.

  18. Agreed entirely. No protected heats just let the riders compete, some will succeed sime will fail thats how the sport (should) work. The reduced limit is almost doing what its supposed to which is bringing new riders in and pushing those at the top creaming the easy money out.

  19. Might be closer than you think . Apparently Feltz gives a good blow.... dry

  20. You're welcome After all scunthorpe did beat the pie ratsin the final which made me smile, also Simon Lambert guested for Plymouth at Birmingham and was totally committed and offered advice to the youngsters in the Plymouth team . Think I'm going mad!!!!!

  21. It was because Workington AND Lakeside(main/chosen race night) changed some of their race nights from Saturday to Friday & other teams, not just Friday night racing teams but their opponents as well, but because Godfrey's name was in the memo for teams to change back to their original race night, he gets all the blame.(remember it is or was a BSPA vote + promoters that vetoed the change) As usual. It used to be Buster, as head honcho, but now Rob. Many Thanks. See as above but you have a "bee in your bonnet" & will not change similar to others. You just have tunnel vision & do not see the bigger picture.

  22. I'm not exactly a rob Godfrey fan but in fairness to him he has been instrumental in enabling workington to enter the Championship and advising them on the best way forward apparently.

  25. A couple of weekends in Poland hopefully this year, not got much appetite for the racing in the country right now. The penny has really dropped now the team building discussion has started and I don’t have a team to follow anymore, it’s sad.

  26. Hundreds of non league football clubs in England and Wales already successfully use this type of stand. Always thought it would be great to have put a few on the starting straight at Buxton. Need a good foundation but many positives. Various sizes and sponsor opportunities, being a couple.

  29. Phil Morris, will not be prepared to allow clubs "yes people" to continue for very long as a Voice representative if all they do is say "everything is great at my club" nor will he tolerate folk who see this as a forum to moan, complain about everything being rotten to the core as far as Premiership speedway is concerned. He will be looking to work with representatives who take a balanced view to the current situation and can provide feedback on current topics and potential additional concepts for the near and far future. This is a great idea and should be applauded not shot at.

  32. Berwick have edited their post to add a challenge match, so it must be 3 groups of 3? Shame they didn't answer my query / thank me for pointing out their error!

  33. Have they maybe made an error surely £16 online & £18 pay at gate would have been more like it for concessions

  35. And 4 meetings out of one months disposable income is a lot different now than in the halcyon days of the sport.. Satellite TV, Mobile Phones, Internet, Gas, Electric, Water, Car and Home insurance, Modern Car ownership, fuel prices, house prices/mortgages, home mod cons such as fridge freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers etc etc etc all have a much larger impact to the disposable spend left after all has been paid for.. Add in inflation running ahead of wage increases and you have a serious challenge on your hands to get fans attending weekly, regularly through the seaaon.. And throw in the fair few "Mickey Mouse" meetings, which get ran, and which can reduce attendances, as well as the cost for so many hiring tracks, and weekly Speedway would be a big risk...

  36. Whats the point of getting wolves fans in for free? I thought the whole idea getting more fans in was to MAKE MORE MONEY.

  37. All this chatter about free buses, oh the traffic is bad, where do you park . I wonder if some actually want speedway in Birmingham or just to moan about it.

  38. No doubt each club’s biggest happy clapper will be appointed to these roles.

  39. Birmingham did something similar to that a couple of years ago with Coventry and Cradley fans and by all accounts it did not go down well with their own fans, who questioned why they had to pay more while other clubs fans had a discount. Understandable that they want more fans in, but you don't want to get the regular ones backs up in the process.

  40. Not forgetting that on Oct 17 when they turned down the AEPG/DHL shambles, they pointed out their responsibilities as elected officials and referenced the importance of a 100 or so objections (despite details man Butterfield saying that multiples were from single addresses), and the wishes of the local community as well the strong opposition in the room. Well they've now got 1000s of objections, AEPG have rubbished PCC and the local community, and Peterborough Speedway has mobilised its opposition. When AEPG play their next card it is certainly going to be interesting.

  41. He owns Henlow. The rest he just has a lease from the stadium owners. And he's not a bookmaker, but a punter and big greyhound owner (the largest in the country I believe).

  44. The NDL lads will certainly pack a punch to any meeting. Their talent maybe raw at times, and their times maybe a second slower, but they don't hold back. These guys are the future of British Speedway and without a directive of developing them, then unfortunately there wont be any speedway. From what I have witnessed this year, the only difference at times was the name on the back of the race suit! As the racing /entertainment was no different to any Premiership or Championship meeting. Its great to see the likes of Woffy, Holder, Harris, and Sayfutdinov, but Boughen, Harrison, Mcgurk, and Hagon are more than capable of providing the same entertainment. Therefore the same value for money.
    1 point
  45. Why should having 2 NDL riders mean less entertainment? Losing Ryan Douglas is certainly a big loss as he is a guarantee of big points but whoever the new 1-7 are can still provide entertaining racing - and that applies to any club.

  46. I’m told from a reliable source he’s offered a considerable sum if a suitable site is found. Not sure we should be mocking him for that to be honest.
