  1. Doyle giving up Sweden to ride in the UK. Whether fans up and down the country like him or not, I'm sure everybody respects the loyalty Doyley has shown to our league throughout the years.

  2. What a great service Chris did for the benefit of British Speedway Not only did all get to see Emil grace the league and be the biggest attraction for many a year but persevering to get that deal across the line also paved the way for the others Had the Emil deal floundered the others ate unlikely to have happened

  3. What a weird little thing to have a whinge about! Did you even read it? He says “We are looking to announce the team immediately. It is an exciting team and one we will enjoy working with and we were settled on it quite quickly by the end of the season and I am sure the fans will be delighted with it”. So now the information will be passed on to the webmaster (who probably has a full time job) to write up seven rider articles in readiness for the reveal on the official website in the coming days! What’s the issue here?

  5. Would chop my right arm off for weekly speedway, as would many I would think, given how every year we moan about a lack of fixtures. An attractive season ticket and they are onto a great thing here. Hats off to them, full of admiration. What if it works well and every club does it over the next few years.

  6. "We have had our first meeting and it was brilliant. It was great to hear from every tracks' delegates that the sport is superbly led, and that each meeting they attend is truly an amazing event that simply couldn't be improved, and provides incredible value for money"... "It was noted though that all the delegates clearly felt that more guests were needed to add more credibility to the league, so that is something we can definitely look at improving"..

  7. Don’t know what all the fuss about a 3pm start time. Yeah working full time and life gets in the way some weeks but if you’re really a supporter you’ll be there when you can. As for it clashing with the Reds and amateur rugby, I know what I’d prefer to go and watch. Instead of all the negativity flying around in the world atm can we just have some positive thinking for a change. Get behind the promotion, behind our 7 riders whoever’s they may be, and support the comets.

  8. It doesn’t matter how you try to spin it Jason has been one of the most loyal GP riders to UK speedway. There is no team in the league who would not want him in their team. Both Jason and Emil have bought plenty of entertainment to the fans at Ipswich . More so than than any other riders in recent years ( although Jason if you are reading this you have yet to do full lap of the stockcar track on 1 wheel)!

  9. He'll be fine if he wears a Sheffield racejacket under his Berwick one

  10. Just going by the stats Buttons. Over all meetings last season, Doyle 10.53 at Foxhall, Emil 9.76

  11. They will want at least 2 'big' headlines for the papers i would have thought! Great to see Doyle back at Foxhall he is surely one of the most exciting about - if he misses the gate watching him reel them in is highlight of the meeting for me.

  15. If Etheridge is signed again you might as well just write off another season the bloke is useless home and away. I have faith Dickson is switched on enough to not make that mistake.

  16. Any Panthers fans who go to Kings Lynn should be ashamed of themselves. They are the sort of people who would sell their mothers for £1. Buster is a vulture.

  17. Can't see Dan lowering himself to those kind of levels tbh. Leaving BV for KL is the equivalent of leaving Kate Moss for Vanessa Feltz.

  18. Agreed entirely. No protected heats just let the riders compete, some will succeed sime will fail thats how the sport (should) work. The reduced limit is almost doing what its supposed to which is bringing new riders in and pushing those at the top creaming the easy money out.

  19. I think under Stewart Dickson you’ll see a better version of Etheridge this year or he’ll struggle to keep his place.

  20. That's preposterous, he clearly wouldn't fit at reserve alongside Kyle Legault.

  21. Several jungle drums are suggesting Tom Brennan!! If true, that would keep Zach Cook at 2nd string (assuming he and Lawson are still in!?) but wouldn't leave that many points for the final 3!

  22. Might be closer than you think . Apparently Feltz gives a good blow.... dry

  24. I'm not sure it's about "loyalty to British Speedway" with Doyle at all. He lives reasonably local & stated many times he wants more family time throughout the season. Riding for Ipswich gives him exactly that. Nothing more, nothing less.

  25. It was because Workington AND Lakeside(main/chosen race night) changed some of their race nights from Saturday to Friday & other teams, not just Friday night racing teams but their opponents as well, but because Godfrey's name was in the memo for teams to change back to their original race night, he gets all the blame.(remember it is or was a BSPA vote + promoters that vetoed the change) As usual. It used to be Buster, as head honcho, but now Rob. Many Thanks. See as above but you have a "bee in your bonnet" & will not change similar to others. You just have tunnel vision & do not see the bigger picture.

  26. I'm not exactly a rob Godfrey fan but in fairness to him he has been instrumental in enabling workington to enter the Championship and advising them on the best way forward apparently.

  27. I'm sure that many feel the same and for others the penny has yet to drop. The local rag posts that Lyon and Basso have jumped ship and others are likely to follow. Who gives a flying **** (and that's not Ryan)? Any Peterborough Speedway supporter who puts another penny in Chapman's coffers in 2024 (unless he choose to clarify to our satisfaction what he's been playing at during 2023) really does need to have a serious word with themselves. When we had the misfortune of Chapman taking over 5 years ago it was reported that "Two winters ago he played a significant role in keeping the sport at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester by introducing new owners to Belle Vue." - which begs the question as to what he's been buggering about at all season and why he's allegedly still clinging on to sod all? The only challenge and focus for Peterborough supporters now is to keep the opposition going with significant numbers despite having nothing to follow in 2024. When/if PCC get round to the planning applications then strong opposition is going to be crucial to saving the club.

  30. 100% he’s box office. He and Emil are a good mix. Doyle the better rider at Foxhall so helps the home form, Emil the better away rider so helps on the travels.

  34. Berwick have edited their post to add a challenge match, so it must be 3 groups of 3? Shame they didn't answer my query / thank me for pointing out their error!

  35. Have they maybe made an error surely £16 online & £18 pay at gate would have been more like it for concessions

  36. And 4 meetings out of one months disposable income is a lot different now than in the halcyon days of the sport.. Satellite TV, Mobile Phones, Internet, Gas, Electric, Water, Car and Home insurance, Modern Car ownership, fuel prices, house prices/mortgages, home mod cons such as fridge freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers etc etc etc all have a much larger impact to the disposable spend left after all has been paid for.. Add in inflation running ahead of wage increases and you have a serious challenge on your hands to get fans attending weekly, regularly through the seaaon.. And throw in the fair few "Mickey Mouse" meetings, which get ran, and which can reduce attendances, as well as the cost for so many hiring tracks, and weekly Speedway would be a big risk...

  38. That’s great a real positive step, hopefully it will provide something far better than the old what the fans think page on the British speedway site. Just for old times & a laugh here is my favourite……. From the first race it became obvious that, despite this being a testimonial, the riders meant business. As they jostled for position around the tight bends, every sinew straining to keep control of the sliding back wheels, the crowd roared on their favourite, struggling to be heard over the deep growl of the engines. The blur of sound and colour, as they passed only yards away, was replaced by the one sensation that, for me, made the whole experience real. The exhaust fumes from the methanol fuel forced their way up my nostrils and left an overpowering but not unpleasant lingering smell reminiscent of cooking oil. It was at this point that I felt a connection with my fellow spectators, as if I had just experienced some rite of passage, which no amount of armchair viewing could bestow upon

  39. The fast track format was horrible. If the riders are in the meeting they have to be in the meeting properly. And no differing ways of calculating averages for me, it’s just unnecessary complication.

  42. And what about Doyle giving double middle fingers to the crowd when he was booed as he went up for his losers medal ?

  43. It is a lowering of standard absolutely. But it is being framed as such to re-establish the difference in levels between the top and second division. Something that it is important to do as there have been too many blurred lines between the two for around a decade now. The problem for customers will be that they won’t see that reflected in the pricing. Overall I think it’s a good move for the sport but again has been done in a bit of a wishy-washy manner.

  44. Got to love all the negativity from people. British speedway supporters are the gift that will keep giving.

  46. I’m told from a reliable source he’s offered a considerable sum if a suitable site is found. Not sure we should be mocking him for that to be honest.

  47. The British leagues should be having British youngsters at 6+7 also British U24 in the team, instead of all the foreign riders imo
