  1. From Cllr Julie Stevenson of Orton Waterville (27/11/23) - on Facebook: IMPORTANT NEWS: SAVE PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY As part of the ongoing effort to protect Peterborough’s speedway track and team (Peterborough Panthers), Orton Waterville Parish Council is to debate whether it is in the public interest to register the track as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). If the parish council votes in favour of initiating the ACV registration process, it may put a halt to any intentions to destroy the speedway track. What is an ACV? The Localism Act of 2011 created a provision that allows ‘defined community groups’, such as parish councils, to ask their local authority to list assets that meet the relevant criteria as being of ‘community value’. The Localism Act defines an asset of community value if: Its actual or current use (or there is a time in the recent past when its use) furthers the social wellbeing or social interests of the local community, and It is realistic to think that there can continue to be (or it is realistic to think that there is a time in the next five years) non-ancillary use of the asset that would further the social wellbeing or social interests of the local community. The debate will take place between members of the parish council during a meeting of Orton Waterville parish council on Wednesday 29th November 2023. If the decision is taken to register the track as an ACV, the next step will be for the parish council to ask Peterborough City Council to initiate the registration process.

  2. As with the Tarasenko situation, it's absolutely hilarious to see Poole fans getting their knickers in a twist with this type of thing. The exact type of stuff Poole happily did for years and years.

  3. Funny that our current Idiot owner is splashing the cash at King's Lynn like he has his love back for them...I wonder where he got that from...

  4. I wish the team well, but 'Spires' is a really naff name imo...

  5. The track and fence isn’t really a great problem, the grandstand and lights are the most important and with the recent council planning noting that LP 30 applies to speedway , the removal of the fence and track on AEPG orders hasn’t gone down to well with anyone least of all the council planners or Sports England.

  7. Did I not watch Ben cook top scoring in the CRC at Redcar?

  8. Yes mate, I do agree he should increase his average. He’s had some horrendous luck and I was probably harsh on him earlier. I trust Rob’s judgement so if that’s what he thinks is the best option, it’s good enough for me.

  10. I think a 100% fit MPT should put something on his 5.13(if he is fit). Having said that we have over a point to play with. Agree with Thomson, but considering the trouble we was in at the back end of last season, i'll take that team, with room for a change maybe, at some time.

  11. Brilliant side and the balance looks right already. The weak links of Riss and Hume replaced by a Heat Leader / Team GB member on a false average as well as a better reserve whether it's Flint, Jenkins or Barker.

  12. 5.87 with GB reduction I believe

  13. Tom Johnson, who wrote a column in the meeting programmes. He was a journalist with the Express & Star newspaper, based in Wolverhampton. He acted as an umpire in the Provincial League in 1964 when ACU referees were not available due to the league being outlawed. In 1989 I sat next to Tom at the end of season Cradley Heath dinner, when we were both guests. Free meals are the best.

  17. Think all the meetings Tom was doing caught up with him towards the end of last season The amount of travelling on himself and wear and tear on his equipment. Next season he's added another League I wouldn't be surprised if his average drops. Dont know the reason he was released couldn't have just been his average otherwise we could have kept James Maybe Mark thought he was taking to much on

  18. No, we will not ever visit Kings Lynn again, obvious the AEPG gold coins have financed TM deal.

  19. Hook should still be a 4 I think and just didn’t use him due to him being let go mid season but you never know what might happen. Nielsen looks a good average if you can keep him fit but it’s a huge if.

  20. He'll have the second highest average if Poole team is the same as what's rumoured. Although we would have one of the strongest second strings in Zach Cook.

  26. Absolutely, in the last half a dozen seasons Swindon, Lynn and Dad's Army P'boro have all finished top of the pile having been predicted to finish bottom. In such a small league if things go your way you can have a very good season.

  27. It will, but as a supporter that won’t stop there. The dissection of how and why it was lost will rumble on. Certainly will for me anyway until we exorcise that ghost and actually win it! We had Emil on an assessed 8.00 who put over two points on his average, and yet we failed to take advantage because of poor or non decisions by Chris Louis. It’s all well and good having a sly dig at Sheffield calling them the “pick n mix” Tigers and proudly beating his chest that we “finished with the same seven as press day”, but who has the Premiership trophy in the cabinet and who doesn’t? Ask any supporter if they’d rather have the “we were loyal to our riders” trophy or the actual Premiership trophy and I’m pretty sure what 99% of them would say. Great for the riders themselves, someone mentioned that Musielak contacted Louis for a team place and that doesn’t surprise me. I’d bet my last Rolo that Louis had more riders asking for a team place this year than any other promoter. He’ll be a riders wet dream because they’ll know like Riss this year, that if they run in to problems or poor form, they’ll be supported and not binned off like at other clubs. But again, do you want to win or not? If you do, you have to be more ruthless. Poole have made harsh and unpopular decisions for donkeys years, dropping riders that didn’t deserve to be to make multiple changes that strengthened their overall team, but look at their trophy cabinet! Winners. Some clubs don’t have much of a budget so struggle to compete, Louis doesn’t have that excuse either. Even when we dropped a division we had one of, if not THE biggest budgets in the Championship, and we couldn’t win a title in that division either. Only one team can win obviously and no team has a god given right to win, but he has to get this monkey off his back sooner rather than later because we haven’t won a league title under his watch well over a decade after he took over from Tiger despite being lucky enough to have a budget to help him. Winning the Cup was great, but that’s the only (major) trophy he’s won. It’s a poor record. Some will say it’s not all about winning and it’s the racing that counts, but I’ve never been one of those. It’s Sport, it’s about winning and losing. I’ve heard some people say their team lost but they walked away happy because it was a good meeting. I’ve never understood that either. I’ve NEVER walked out of Foxhall on the back of a defeat happy regardless of how decent the meeting was! That’s the last I’ll say on 2023 on to next year and try again!

  33. Whatever side Monarchs declare for 2024, without any any malice intended, I hope the Promotion realise that retaining a 29 year old Australian who in 13 matches, 40 rides, achieved a match average of 0.70(excldg BPs) which included only two 3rd places in 16 rides @ home, would dismay the home support. Some I know are seriously considering whether to attend, or even pay for the stream, if we end up with another uncompetitive starting lineup for 2024.

  34. Team I would like to see at Redcar, next season. Hope I have got the averages right, with British reductions Danny King 8.41 Charles Wright 7.80 Thom Jorgensen 6.30 Connor Bailey 5.22 Jason Edwards 4.55 Jake Mulford 3.06 Connor Coles 2.63 Equals 37.97

  37. Think I'd rather see Worrall in the team than that whinge bag Wright think the only dingle I would have now would be Flint as Becker Masters and Douglas seem to be heading to Leicester

  38. Probably the only one that would be.

  39. Yep, he is on the up, knows how to ride inside and outside and pass people, plus team ride - much more engaging to watch.

  40. Not much between them but probably be a good idea for Tom to have a fresh start somewhere else, his progression has stalled slightly in the last 18 months.

  41. I don’t think anyone is belittling him but you need to look at the facts whether you or Mr Tolley agrees, they’ve been in the championship for 2 seasons and truthfully put out poor sides each season, on numerous occasions he’s came out and said crowds aren’t good enough. So he moves up a league higher rider costs but perhaps no increase in people through the turnstiles that is a huge risk for anyone to take. I don’t know if they are banking on attracting some wolves fans but if he is that’s a risky strategy imo and there’s only so much losing money someone can take.

  42. I think he's clearly good enough to be a number 5, especially in a weaker league. Even if he's not it's a 7 man team, so one rider "out of position" won't hurt Poole. There will probably be several riders racing in a higher position next year, compared to 2023. I also note that Scunthorpe won the KOC with a number 5 on a 7.16 average.

  43. If we start the season with Zagar as number 1 we are finished before we even start . This has the LR stamp all over it . Stefan Neilson will no doubt be our number 6 . I have no problem with Zagar been in the team . What average would he come in on ? surely he is no where near his last average ability ? Which means we would be chucking a couple of points away straight off .
