  1. Tarasenko, musielak and Basso. That’s dreadful luck or maybe a common denominator of somebody or something that’s upsetting those riders. Hmmmm

  2. Why does someone always ask this on every thread where a meeting is shown on eurosport? Gets a bit boring after a while. We know it affects attendance....

  3. I can't believe all these people slagging Cardiff off and not attending. It's the biggest showpiece event in our sport (or at least it used to be) and all many can do on here is moan about everything to do with it... well I hope you're all happy it seems you've got what you all wanted! You'll be moaning about ticket prices at Belle Vue next year, complaining you've got soaked to the skin in the rain and complaining that there's nothing to do around the stadium. £23 for a world class event in a state of the art stadium... with a roof! And all you can do is moan because you've lost your sense of adventure for 1 day of your life and need a comfy bed for a night instead of driving there and back in one go or staying somewhere away from Cardiff... you ought to be ashamed of yourselves! Remember where it was before Cardiff? Hackney, Bradford, Coventry... you don't know what you've had until it's gone. Well done everybody that stopped going!

  4. Very funny...although you might find Millik and Pawlicki hold that title!! 😃

  5. They have. The influx of GP riders has increased Premiership clubs' costs alarmingly.

  7. In the end a much better match than expected - KL had a good go ultimately not strong enough and last 3 heats saw the Aces run away with it a bit which belies the effort the Stars made - Hope you enjoyed it!

  10. Wimbledon is part houses, part football ground. Hackney became the media centre for the Olympics, which I believe has now been converted to residential use. London White City is now BBC offices. Harringay is a supermarket, New Cross housing and a park and Walthamstow is housing. Wembley is still Wembley, just a very different Wembley.

  12. Make tv matches cheaper, surely it's the only way to attract the fans?

  13. I have to say that for such a great track where great racing is almost guaranteed, it was a shame to see such an empty stadium on Eurosport. It is not good for the sport to attract a new audience (or even keep the old audience) when the best stadium in the country looks near empty. I felt the same during SON when the temporary stand was up and empty each night until the final and then only a smattering of people. Sadly the sport in the UK continues on the decline in terms of attracting people's disposable income and possibly because they are trying to use a formula that has been used for 50+ years that has brought about its decline. They need to look for ways of making speedway great again or at least stopping its decline.

  14. I particularly enjoyed his debut at Peterborough. The former world champion managed quite easily to get a Audi 0-0-0-0

  15. @stevebrum Please provide an explanation for Lindgren. Birmingham's decision to sign Lindgren ahead of Laguta looks like the biggest mistake in the history of British Speedway.

  16. Each to their own but are these people cutting off their nose to spite their face? Averages are an abstract concept that don't actually make that much difference on track. There has been some good racing and obviously excellent results so what's not to like? Guys going round fractions of a second faster don't necessarily mean it's a better product!

  17. They did just that when Joe Screen signed for Glasgow in June 2010 and he wasn’t permitted to ride in the Pairs the following month. My recollection, possibly flawed, was it was a stitch up to stop Glasgow winning the Pairs. Which they did the following year. With James Grieves. And, of course, Joe Screen

  18. Lindgren has been a big disappointment it has to be said.

  19. Well it should be. Clubs will never have a better chance than this. “The team that finishes top deserve it”. Nope, not this year if as expected Ipswich now miss out.

  21. We always tend to park at Newport train station. Cuts out the hassle of having to drive in and out of Cardiff and finding a space. Regular trains for the short hop into Cardiff and the station is right in the centre so only a short walk to the stadium.

  30. The averages are the other way round, you get a 5% uplift at home not away so it is 6.92 home and 6.59 away for Nicolai and 7.23 home and 6.89 away for Ben

  31. Sorry, but that is absolute tosh... yes there was dust, but it was not anywhere near bad enough that you couldn't see the racing. As you stated, you weren't there 🙄

  32. Ironically Laguta must have been the worst signing of 2023.

  33. Didn't Tatum say last night that Emil's footrest snapped prior to the crash ? It would have been a big factor.

  34. Just think what the score could, not would have been as you put it,had Klindt been riding or Musielak decided to return. All if's,but's and maybe's but the score is what it is and that's a fact.

  36. Yeah Starke a good signing if at reserve and reliable for at 6/7 points a meeting from 5 rides, as opposed to the 1/2 points we were often getting combined. To put into context of how poor our reserves have been prior to signing Starke.. 53+10 from 110 rides (McGurk + Liebmann combined) Starke - 23+4 from 22 rides so far on his own...

  37. We will never be like Poland. And we shouldn’t even try being. Of course we want to be like them but when old Doris next to you complains to the stewards because you cursed a few bad words and shouted loudly you don’t stand a chance

  39. Plumes of dust from heat one. Blue groove from heat 8. Compare that to Belle vue who had neither. the riders need a decent stage to perform.

  40. Speedway in Poland isn't as big as football.. It is very big in certain towns and cities, but nationally not on the level of football overall.. Volleyball, Basketball and Handball are all very well supported Polish sports too.. Polish Speedway does well as it doesn't run it's leagues in the ridiculous way that the UK does, hence thousands of fans can emotionally, and tribally, invest into their team, and sponsors and TV support it knowing it is bonus fide sports championship that all teams race for..

  41. Unfortunately the Polish scene knocks spots off the UK presentation and any rider worth his salt would rather ride in front of a packed crowd with an atmosphere that is second to none compared to the sparse speedway support that turns up at a UK stadia. Those that ride in Poland and frequent UK teams/tracks are simply topping up the pension. If you are a regular who watches on Kergel then you will understand the phrase chalk and cheese when watch weekend racing from Poland versus what is served up from the UK Clubs. The UK broadcaster cannot ever offer a comparable form of entertainment no matter who are the commentators and if they had any sense they would quietly part the sport in some dark corner and leave it to BSN to show the best bits from the lower leagues.

  42. To be honest I can’t believe the side Glasgow assembled at the beginning of the season. That would not be a side to equal last seasons success and can’t believe the management couldn’t see it.

  45. I have attended 32 meetings in the UK so far this season. The racing has been mixed as you would expect. One thing I have noticed is the amount of meetings that start later than advertised. Often it appears for no reason. As someone who attends meeting on public transport this is an important factor to me. However whenever I attend a Leicester meeting, 3 times so far, 2 x Lions and a Cubs meeting they start on time. That is the first race at the publicised start time, the parade, minutes applause etc. happens before this. I don't know who is responsible for the timing, but they should be congratulated for their professionalism & doing a good job.

  46. Maybe he got a 28 day ban from disclosing the contract info?.. Must admit, I did read the SS interview on, I think, the Sunday, where he couldnt wait to return... And by the Tuesday he wasn't coming back...!! A strange situation.. But, it is UK Speedway where you can get banned for not getting paid and, therefore, "witholding your services" when you (quite understandably), decide, "sod this lark".... It is ran "uniquely" as a team sport (in the UK)...

  47. Probably the best service out there, I subscribe and at the minute there's virtually a match every night. Highly recommended and I've not seen it on any other services since 2023.
