  1. Spoke to Vinnie Ford at length last night at Leicester, he wearing his Poole jacket and I asked him why he isn't wearing a Leicester one? He said that at Leicester even if you ride for them you have to pay for your own! At Poole they are handed out to the riders. It pains me to say this but Vinnie was comparing Poole and Leicester on how he's been treated and it was night n day. He loves Poole, he said everybody there looks after him and he would love to be back next year although he said he hasn't been offered a deal yet. He does have offers from other clubs though. Just thought you pirates may appreciate the kind words from a young promising rider. Even Joe T said he likes Poole as well. Good luck for the finals Pirates!

  2. Firstly Well Done to the patched up Ipswich team, on putting on good fight, the earlier part of the meeting they gave us a bit of squeaky bum time. It will be interesting to see if Emil comes back for the Play Offs and if he is then it gives them some hope in the Play Offs. But for us its another piece of silverware, and we have been pretty successful in the 4 seasons we join the Premiership. 2021 Play Off Semi Finalist (4th in the league) 2022 Play Off Finalist and KO Cup winners (1st in the league) 2023 Play Off winners and KO Cup runners up. (3rd in the league) 2024 KO Cup winners and Play Off Semi Finalist (1st in the league) Not bad record to have.

  3. Rew was outstanding. He’s made great strides this year and reading Hawkins’ positive comments regarding Rew and next season it looks like he’ll almost certainly be back which is great news

  4. I think this actually sums up maybe the Ipswich issue - having either not been able to replace Doyle or deciding not too - they probably and reasonably felt they could get by with the team riding well and Emil covering the big heats - it was of course working until Emil got injured. The same could have happened to the Tigers, they have covered Tai pretty well with either R/R or guests - but if say Jack or Chris H had got injured (like Jack did last year) then who knows what might have happened, thankfully for Sheffield he hasnt! However Pickering has been sensational this last month or so - his performance at the NSS was really one to see!

  5. Well you don’t really did you Riss was unfit & Thompson was out injured last year. This year with King out injured we won at your place & missing Doyle we lost by 2 in Yorkshire, beat you at home with Ellis & King missing. But hats off you have managed to beat us when it matters with half our side missing 😂

  6. Magic Janowski recently had this to say in an interview with RedBull.com, Translation taken from Sportowefakty. The Polish representative talked about his return to the British Isles, where he races in the colours of the Oxford Spires. Naturally, the question was asked about continuing his career in Premiership where Maciej Janowski said I want to continue competing because I feel good there. He confirmed that if the squad is close to the vision that was discussed, he will stay at Oxford.

  7. Yes I agree, most of his big scores are away. His relaxed armchair style doesn’t work at Redcar, maybe a year away on loan??If so, going to need a complete new team next year.Need a team planner who knows what they are doing!!

  8. If thems the rules, then they should be out, that's why we have cut off dates... now show me the rules that say they just make the pay off fixtures up as they see fit. You don't seem to understand the concept of a rule book in professional sports.

  9. Should be the first name in their team, and they should be doing everything humanly possible to get him back on his steal of a 7.02 average. Will 100% kick on next season and be the 8.00 assessed rider he was brought in on

  10. I've noticed the flaw in my prediction. Need a TM competent enough to give him 7 rides 🙈

  11. I have only had a quick look at the main change but it is clear that AEPG have decided to try to completely ignore the existence of the speedway. The main relevant section that they have blanked is in the most importrant document in the system - The National Planning Policy Framework. When we object to the application we are advised that the main thread should be in relation to the NPPF. The document is here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/669a25e9a3c2a28abb50d2b4/NPPF_December_2023.pdf For us, the main area of interest is around Section 16 starting at paragraph 195 onwards where it deals with heritage assets. There can be both designated heritage assets and non-designated heritage assets and the speedway can be assumed to be one of these. I seem to remember the councillors trying to get designation for it along the way. Para 207 onwards is very important and we should find words to raise against the loss of a very long held speedway facility as a result of this proposed development. There are some words about not being allowed to destroy an asset to avoid it. This is the section of the NPPF that resulted in that section in the Local Plan about providing a new facility, so is important in the end-fight. We have got good support from the SCB etc that we can use to strengthen the heritage nature of the speeday and link it to the NPPF. I will be away for a couple of weeks, but when I get back I will have anothher go at my official objection.

  13. You have take into account the GSAs each team were replacing:- Edinburgh : Sedgmen( 8.32) with Dan Thompson(7.28), Thomson( 6.86) with Joe Thompson(5.78) Glasgow : Flint(6.82) with Barker(6.32), Garrad(2.00) with Perry(2.00) Statistically, Edinburgh appear to have lost more potential points than Glasgow, but both sides were both restricted in their guest choices because of availability, & also the 7 day rule, in the case of Edinburgh. Only other options imo for Edinburgh would have been Kerr & Vuolas for the Thompson twins & also Vuolas for Barker for Glasgow.

  14. AEPG plans to be considered by councillors on October 15 If you objected to the East of England development then I guess that you've received an e-mail from planningcontrol@peterborough.gov.uk This has hit the local press today https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/people/30-days-more-consultation-as-decision-day-looms-for-east-of-england-showground-development-plans-4772020 Overall they reportedly have changed nothing of significance and Peterborough Speedway is gone, can permanently expire within the city of Peterborough and take its small selfish cohort of speedway fans with it. If you objected then I suggest that you quickly reiterate your position to counter the letters from friends and family that Butterfield is allegedly going to produce. If you haven't objected then give it a go and bump up the numbers. It's simple and painless: Planning Application 23/00412/OUT is where Peterborough Speedway sits. Planning Application 23/00400/OUT is the unagreed part of the development outside of the local plan which means that with the addition of this scheme AEPG can't meet the EoES part of their obligations within LP36 & LP30 Just a reminder of the objections from BSP Ltd/SCB: Sept 2023 http://plandocs.peterborough.gov.uk/PublicDocuments/01321287.pdf May 2024 http://plandocs.peterborough.gov.uk/PublicDocuments/01342678.pdf

  15. Meeting changed after the heat 6 gate swing where Sheffield got a run of the more favourable 1 & 3 that Ipswich had early doors. Ipswich defo put the pressure on, but the meeting sort of evened out after that. Following a stinker at Owlerton on Monday and bike failure in Ht1 I think Howarth had a massive night after that and that’s gone a bit unnoticed with focus being on points Pickering and Ch Holder scored

  16. Totally agreed, and I don't think anyone is disputing that losing your 1 and 5 is a massive blow to any team. However, it's interesting that you have named Pickering in that list as he has only really come into form in the last month or so and is on an average of about 7. It's almost as if people are forgetting that Sheffield have also ridden half the season without their number 5 who was injured only a month after Doyle.

  23. Noticed Cookie withdrew @ Leicester tonight, apparently with a shoulder injury. If unfit for Saturday, Comets could get Josh Pickering as his GSA of 9.07 would exactly match Craig's with the +5% home meeting enhancement. Would imagine JP would be sensational round there.

  27. No pay offs provided for. They are just in Old Bob's imagination. It doesn't take much to find anomalies in the Regulations if you look for them.

  28. Congratulations to Oxford. Those who predicted the changes would affect their chances either haven’t seen the Bears ride much this season or Boughen ride at Redcar. It was all downhill after Masters was somehow allowed in the re-run of Heat 1 after sliding off and taking Wright out and then Wright messing up bend 3 on lap 4 and dropping points. Oxford far too good for the Bears who surrendered without much of a fight. Don’t let the draw fool you in thinking this was close. Boughen superb, fair play young fella, hell of a future if he keeps progressing. Redcar must be his favourite track so if he wants to keep progressing he should consider a move north…. Watched on the stream and wish I hadn’t bothered tbh.

  30. It's always made up bollox so the end of the season (every end of season it appears), having some more made up bollox has a certain wonderful synergy... Hope Ipswich get through with 5 cherry picked guests, 5 in one match, and 5 different ones in the other. (If ten riders are still available), and that Emil rides in Poland this weekend but doesn't ride over here at all... The smell of boilt pee on here would be hilarious..... And then watch him get a 28 day ban that he serves in December.

  31. To be pedantic, there is no stated cut off date in the regs. That doesn't change your point, but it is something that needs tightening up

  43. As far as I see it the only advantage is that if there is a superheat you get home advantage. I think promoter's want second leg because they get a bigger crowd to see the trophy actually decided.

  44. Only just caught up on this meeting. A decent meeting with a close scoreline to keep it interesting. However why the nonsense at the start talking about who finishes top and that Leicester could go top with 2 wins only for the Morris interview talking about why Leicester were given top spot and yet no mention of the fact that they now cannot top the table? Speedway really does make an embarrassment of itself.
